I have my other half Jon (@gettheedgeuk www.gettheedgeuk.co.uk) to thank for today's blog! He showed me an amazing man doing ordinary work in an extraordinary way, thus transforming the mundane into the magnificant! The You tube video above is of the awe inspiring Billy Clean..... who must be the happiest street sweeper I've ever seen! Imagine putting that amount of love and joy into your work every day? It doesn't matter what your vocation happens to be, you can choose to be ordinary or as in Billy Clean's case extraordinary! If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.’” What makes the difference ? It's all about attitude! You choose every morning if you will face the day with positivity or negativity. In Billy Clean's case, quite obviously he chooses to carry out his work positively, bringing joy not only to himself , but to everyone he meets. The streets he sweeps have become his stage, he has chosen a starring role, he is really sharing his love of life with everyone who should pass down his street. Bringing a little more happiness to those he serves. Act as if what you do makes a difference.  Well I've spent all morning doing the housework. And do you know what, it's been an absolute joy! Really, I'm serious, I've savoured every moment of it. incense burning, uplifting music and a time to really nurture our home. Sometimes we can all get too busy to really nurture our environment, be it our home or our workplace, but it's just an outer display; a representation of what's going on with our inner space. I love tending to the nurturing of our home, as in turn its nurturing me. This morning I took great pleasure in going out into the garden to cut some fresh yellow roses for the vase in the hallway. So now when we return home we are welcomed by the freshness of the buds breaking into bloom..... think about it, if our environment is displaying what's going on, on the inside, then my yellow roses tell me that my confidence, knowledge, self esteem, authenticity and personal power are beginning to bloom! For those of you who know me, you'll know that I always look for the meaning and symbolism in everything that I notice around me. The clues are there if you just open your eyes enough to see. "Seeing" seems to be a topic for me this week. For those of you that receive the Get a Life! newsletter, you'll know that "Seeing" ..... really seeing...... has featured in this month's writing too. I had a long discussion with a good friend of mine just a few days ago about the energy of nurture. It doesn't matter if you're male or female,the feminine energy of nurture is so important. We so take forgranted at times the importance of expressing this energy. For me it can be something as simple as taking pleasure in doing the housework, knowing that I am lovingly nurturing our home and therefore ourselves. Being a reflexologist and a Solestry reader, a sure sign of you not engaging with the nurturing energy is neglecting your feet! ( For me the Feet are a reflection of the person- or in other words, the sole is a reflection of the Soul ) So go ahead, check out the condition of your feet..... what do they say about you ??? Afterall, they're carrying you through life... that's got to count for some effort to nurture them surely? In simple terms, if we do not nurture our environment, our homes and ourselves we don't have the capacity to grow. Just in the same way a gardener nurture's their seedlings, or a parent nurture's their child..... nurture is imperative for growth! So I urge you today....... Stop and take a look around you.... your car,your office, your desk,your home...... what do you notice? How does your outer nurturing reflect your inner nurturing? I saw this song quoted in my friend's facebook status this morning, it took me back to being a teenager,such a great song, with lots of feel-good memories! As I watched the beginning of the you tube video, it shows the band imprisoned and unhappy in a prison cell, then it shows how easily they can simply; and with little effort, push down the walls that contain them and be free. It got me to thinking................ How many times do we put up false walls, feeling we're trapped, stuck or are prevented in some way of being free? Often, just like in the video, we're simply a prisioner of our own limiting beliefs and thoughts. We keep ourselves imprisoned - when in truth even if in the worst case senario our body were imprisoned, our mind and spirit are always free. For most of us thankfully we have our liberty and freedom, but I urge you today to consider these questions: Where in your life do you limit your freedom to be all that you can be? What restricts you from having a "Fantastic day" today and every day? What trully holds you back,what locks you in? If you were free to be YOU, what would be different ? Perhaps your "Fantastic day" needs a little more defined clarity.... afterall, how can you move towards your desired "Fantastic day" If you don't have a clear vision of what it is? So maybe its an opportunity to stop, get out a pen and paper and write down, draw, express and create your "Fantastic day" . I urge you to take just a few moments now to create your "Fantastic day" really get into the feeling of it....... What do you notice? What emotions do you experience? What exactly is your "Fantastic day"? Are you surprised? When I pose this type of question to most people, they really want something that is just within reach! And its something totally available to them with just a few changes to their thoughts (remembering that thoughts become things!) Now you have got a clear picture of your "Fantastic day" you can consider: What is currently taking you further away from your "Fantastic day"? What would take you closer toward it? The Charity MIND has just launched its latest campaign Taking care of business: mental health at work. Having experienced workplace stress myself in the past and having seen the effects on others in a similar situation,I wanted to bring MIND's work to the attention of my blog readers. Mind week 15-22 May 2010 Learn more about the campaign. Mind today presents compelling new evidence that the recession has had a devastating effect on the wellbeing of British workers. The charity has found that since the recession 1 in 10 workers have sought support from their doctors and 7% have started taking antidepressants for stress and mental health problems directly caused by the pressures of recession on their workplace. The findings, which launch Mind’s campaign Taking Care of Business, coincide with new government statistics showing the biggest rise in antidepressant prescriptions ever, with a record 39.1 million issued in 2009, up from 35.9 million in 2008. Mind’s Populus poll of 2050 workers found that as a direct result of recession:

Well the talk of the day is all about the election here in the UK. Its on the TV, on the radio ,in the papers and it's what everyone's talking about, tweeting about and facebooking! Regardless of your politics every angle has a spin but none of the talk is what you could term as "Happy talk". As you've heard me say many times before, where focus goes, energy flows. Whilst of course the election is important, of course it matters.... but I thought today was a key time to write today's blog "Happy talk" If we take "Captain Sensible's" sensible advice and consider the wonderful words from South Pacific.... Happy talkin', talkin Happy talk Talk about things you'd like to do You've got to have a dream If you don't have a dream How you gonna have a dream come true Why not try this today..... Focus your energy on your dreams,be inspired and inspiring, let your talk be happy..... because what you focus on is what is drawn towards you, where your thoughts and talk go is where your energy flows and thats what will manifest in your reality...... I'd urge you not to get caught up in the confusion and doubt that may be the chatter going on around you. Instead I'd urge you to start a change yourself.... be the leader of the "Happy talk" change today. This blog took a while to write..... maily due to the fact I couldn't remember who sang the song I wanted to include! But thanks to good old Google and the help of my Twitter friends, I eventually found the you tube video, so I could "Shine on" and hopefully brighten up your day! I did want to include the original version, however the video was unsuitable to include in the blog..... may have caused a lot of traffic to the website but not of the variety I'd be hoping for! lol..... Anyways, I had already written my blog for today..... Make a wish...... but I felt compelled to write this one too. It really came about as a result of such lovely feedback I'd received on"Make a Wish" when I posted it as a blog on http://www.psychicknight.com/profiles/blogs/make-a-wish It struct me that we sometimes under estimate how much we can touch others at the heart of them in the simplest ways, by simply sharing our light. By that I mean sharing our uplifting thoughts, a smile, a kind word.....our positivity and support. ~ Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Make a Wish! This is a magical moment,this moment right NOW! I urge you to stop what you're doing and consider this....... What would you wish for right now? As children we made wishes all the time, blowing out candles on our birthday cake, blowing on dandelion heads, watching the seeds spread far and wide, carrying with them our wishes. Magical manifestation was never in question as a child. With all our heart we would blow breath and life into our wishes. So why then as adults do we stop? So, here's you chance..... Make a wish.... state right now your desire.... phrase it as if it were already real, step into the the manifestation of it, try it on for size. What does it feel like to have this wish come true? Feel it in the very heart of you! Do you feel the excitement and joy? How are you different now your wish has come true? How great is life now your wish has come true? Now feel grateful for this wish coming true, appreciate every little piece of it! Gives thanks for it! Now comes the magic.....ask your inner guide ( I like to call it "My bright spark") to show you when opportunities come up that take you towards your wish..... ask for that nudge when the moment comes to follow and take action..... every step is a step closer to your wish! And now, simply let it go! Just like blowing the candles or the Dandelion head, let your wish drift out on the wind! The magic is already happening! Let me know when your wish comes true!
