Love your shoes 07/14/2010
When writing I always ask for guidance about what to write, what will be of most use to you the reader? This guidance comes in many forms, sometimes a thought that comes to mind, a symbol or sign...... for this entry the guidance has come in the form of a pair of shoes! Recently my gorgeous partner Jon bought me some new sandals for the summer. They’re very pretty , with flower shapes running through the front, in a gold colour..... so pleased have I been with them I’ve worn them often over the past couple of weeks. I thought I’d really paid attention, noticed the detail of their design...... Until I asked for guidance on what to write today! It was just now as I took them off, I noticed that on the inside there’s gold lettering....it reads “Love your shoes”.... I couldn’t believe I hadn’t noticed this detail. I sat for a moment wondering what on Earth “Love your shoes” had to do with this blog. Then, like a bolt of lightning it came to me....... of course! Standing in someone else's shoes for a second, it suddenly dawns on you. ~Mel Gibson Your feet and your shoes carry you through life. Shoes in this case are a metaphor for your life journey. Actors such as Mel Gibson above get the opportunity to “Try on” many pairs of shoes in their career; they step into the life and journey of the characters they portray. Of course it’s not really like living the life of their characters, but it does make you think. Wherever you shoes are headed right now, with you wearing them you are making a choice, you are starting with a single step.... what direction are you going in? Maybe you’re not happy with your lot.......Imagine this if you were to try on someone else’s shoes, who would you choose? And more importantly why? Now for a moment think of someone less fortunate than yourself.....................really try to imagine what it might be like to walk in their shoes for a day.................. Are your shoes feeling a little more comfy right now? I found this quote from Billy Bob Thornton which I found to be very thought provoking...... When people wear shoes that don't fit them, it says something about their soul. ~Billy Bob Thornton When we try to squeeze into shoes that don’t fit us, it hurts, it’s painful, and it takes all of our focus and energy just noticing how very uncomfortable it feels. It’s just the same in our life! When we try to “Fit” into a role, relationship, job, environment, or way of being that isn’t truly us, our spirit feels hurt, in pain, our focus and energy becomes tunneled into noticing just how very uncomfortable it feels. So today I urge you to consider..... How much do you love your shoes? If you could change them for something more fitting and comfortable what would they look and feel like? And just for fun...... If you were a pair of shoes......what would they be? ....... What does that tell you about your soul’s longing? Until next time make every moment count! Lisa x Add Comment | ArchivesOctober 2011 |
