Now we all talk to ourselves, it's a natural human trait. I certainly do. But here's the thing.... What does it sound like that inner voice? Is yours kind, loving, supportive... your biggest fan? your cheerleader? OR is yours the kind of inner critic I like to call THE GREMLIN? Hmmm... good question hey? Well the best way to tell is to listen to the words yours is using.... Are there words such as... You can, You're good enough, Go for it, I've got your back..... OR can you hear... Don't be stupid, you can't, you're not good enough, who do you think you are? you're going to make a fool of your self. Let's hazard a guess, if you had to say which shows up more, I'm going to bet it's your inner critic... that nagging little Gremlin... am I right? In this instance to really want to be proved wrong. However, in my experience we all give way to that inner critic from time to time, that doubting Thomas that stops us really fulfilling our true potential. This little blog is a subject matter I often talk about in my talks.....I wonder... just how long have you given head space to that little critter? I hope you're charging it a good rent, because I can't think of any other positive reason to give it any head space for so long, can you? Maybe it's time to give your inner critic the heave -ho .... lets call it an eviction from the big brother house that is your head. It's 3.44pm in the big brother house and the inner critic is being evicted.... How about imagining that little critter as a cartoon character and giving it a name... you can see it now can't you? When you look at it now... well it just looks kinda funny really, that cartoon character with that silly name. Well its time that little fella ( or gal) took a long, long holiday. After all its never had a holiday has it? not for any length of time..... that's a long time to go without having a break in my opinion.... So in truth your doing it a favour... giving it a gift no less... You're so generous after all ! That's it you can see it, bags packed, little passport in hand, waving as it takes its little sabbatical to go aggravate, berate, niggle, doubt and moan to itself to its little hearts content. As we know, when a key member of the team ( no matter how detrimental they are) is off on a break, we have to get in a replacement, a bit like getting a substitute teacher ( a good one) to cover the class... after all life is one big humongous class room and every day we're on this Earth is a school day. So guess who's coming to cover? YOUR BIGGEST FAN! Oh how exciting, your biggest fan is well.... just like a cheerleader, they'll be cheering you on from the sidelines, high fiving you at every opportunity ... I know you're picturing them right now aren't you? Take a good look at them, maybe they represent someone you admire, or someone you know, or perhaps some super hero... after all they are a part of you and we absolutely know YOU ARE A SUPER HERO! (Enter soundtrack to Wonder woman or Super man right here) I wonder how is your life different now that your biggest fan is in residence? What will you be, do and have now that you no longer have that little gremlin that you used to shack up in your loft space? Wow... the World's your lobster my friend! Anything is possible now, 'cause your biggest fan is the teacher and well that's going to make one heck of a difference. Just think of all the CANS....... No... not that sort of cans..... I mean CANS instead of CAN'TS ! As we know success comes in cans...... not can'ts. I urge you to take a moment now and consider the language your biggest fan is using. What pictures are you making in your head? Imagine the possibilities, they're limitless... the future is bright the future is ...... Oops in my excitement I got carried away there with word association.. of course other mobile networks are available :) Although I could talk here about the health benefits of vitamin C... of which there are many... but we'll talk about that in a later blog..... Seriously, your vision of the future will be so much brighter with your biggest fan in the CEO post. Life is about to get loved up, miraculous and a whole lot more positive without the neg head, energy drain that was your inner gremlin. Oh, and if it should try to return... He/ she who shall not be names... like a very undesirable character from Harry Potter... just remind it... YOU'RE ON HOLIDAY! MY BIGGEST FAN HAS EVERYTHING COVERED !!!!!! And then give yourself a big hug... be sure to keep it going for 20 seconds so all those juicy feel good vibes dance around your body ! Until next time,
Make every moment count, Lisa xxx

Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.
Kindness Day UK was launched by Louise Burfitt-Dons in 2010 to mark November 13th as an annual awareness of kind deeds in the UK. The first Kindness Day was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement and is now observed in many countries, including Canada, Japan, Australia, Nigeria and United Arab Emirates. In 2009, Singapore observed the day for the first time by distributing 45,000 flowers. Last year a kindness text wave swept the UK, awards ceremonies took place in Scotland and Italy and there was a party atmosphere on Bondi Beach in Australia. In the UK many charities flagged up the day with their own individual campaigns.
It's a day to celebrate and promote kindness in all its forms. No mater where you are on World kindness day, its the day to change the World with a simple act of kindness. Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.
Kindness and Health
Kindness can bring a sense of richness and fulfilment to our lives. I can also result in making us healthier. There have been a number of studies undertaken which demonstrate the positive effects of kindness on health, both psychological and physiological. Further studies are under way, and several books have been published on the beneficial effects of kindness by top scientists. Experiments have shown that doing a kind deed for another person can make you feel more optimistic and happier, more energetic, more able to resist pain. It can make you calmer, feel more relaxed and help you sleep better. It can help you feel healthier and control your weight better. It can aid you to empathise with others and make you more creative. It can make you heady with joy and feel excited. It can help to decrease feeling lonely and depressed. It can increase your sense of self control so that you don’t feel so lonely and helpless. It can help reduce acid in the stomach leading to bloating and reduce high blood pressure. It can increase your body warmth and help you live longer. It can bring about relief from arthritis and asthma and speed up recovery from an operation. You can even use acts of kindness to relieve back pain and banish headaches. It can actual make your eyes shine and make you look more beautiful. Why does helping others make you feel so good? There are two reasons. One is because helping other people takes our mind off our own problems. Another reason is that when we carry out an act of kindness, our body rewards us by triggering chemicals called endorphins within the body creating a ‘feel good’ sensation. These are naturally occurring morphine-like substances that create a feeling of bliss within us and help to reduce the intensity of any pain messages being sent to the brain. It is not necessary to carry out major acts of kindness to gain the health benefit. In fact it has been found that brief, small, regular acts of kindness lead to the highest levels of well being. That means if we happily punctuate our day with doing small kind acts we can expect to feel good and make ourselves more popular as a result. When you choose to become a kinder person, you are helping yourself as well as the person you help. Your kindness has a ripple effect. It has the magical ability of making others who look on and see you being kind to someone feel good too. In other words, it triggers their endorphins. When you make the decision to be a kinder person, you are effectively bringing about positive social change. When you choose to do a kind deed you are actively helping to reduce world tension. You are also helping to relieve the frustrations which lead people to bully and hurt others. However, it is important that we know how to carry out kind acts. In order to gain from a kind act, or help others gain from a kind act we have to do it in a certain 2 way. If we expect something good to come of it—for example, we do something kind and we don’t get thanked—we can feel anger or disappointment. Then all the benefits are lost. Therefore it is important we do kind acts without expect anything in return. Kindness is not only something that has positive benefits just for ourselves, it is something that has a positive effect on the community. Any act of kindness will help to bring about peace in our schools, our offices, and our homes. Any act of kindness will help to bring about world peace. John Paul Flintoff gives us the happy news that you can, and you do, and you will, change the world. He won't tell us how to do it, but gives us examples of people who have changed the world through their actions, and some guidelines. First, ask yourself: "What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail"? Then, to break things into small steps, ask: "What can you do in the next 24 hours"? And, find some allies - ask people to help you. Finally, emphasize the positive. "To be truly radical is to make hope possible rather than despair convincing." ~ Raymond Williams.
So I urge you , mark it in your diary, make this World kindness day the kindest ever.... in fact why stop there?
Lets make every day the kindest day ever ! Until next time, Make every moment count, Lisa xxx I may avoid watching and reading wall to wall news. But like everyone in the UK , one story has been surrounding us all in the last 24 hours, without possiblity of escape. I write today, not because I choose to give power, exposure or attention to the actions of two individuals, but because as a mother of a daughter, I believe to be around the same age as the young man who sadly lost his life, my heart hurts, it literally aches with pain for his mother and his family. Now I'm all about positivity, as anyone who reads my blog, has worked with me or knows me will tell you.I always look for the greater meaning, or the gift that we can draw from even the most saddening and difficult situaitions. It's very hard to see the gift in this horrific incedent. But we have to make good this loss, as human beings, as spiritual beings, we cannot allow this to pass without in some way learning from it. “An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind” I posted this quote; often attributed to Ghandi on my facebook status last night, a simple statement after yesterday's tragic events. So many of my friends and followers agreed, liked and commented. If there's one important lesson we can take from this, it's that if we allow FEAR in and push LOVE out, then these two individuals will have started a ripple that will go on and on, striking at the very core of life here in the UK. I include here the famous song from a true peaceful warrior of his time; John Lennon, he championed LOVE as being the answer. The lyrics ask us to Imagine all the people living life in peace... and that's where I truly feel we need to focus our energy. I understand the feelings of anger. Anger is a truly powerful force, but if we can just take the energy and channel it into LOVING action, into championing PEACE then we can make a positive stand against such violent actions. In seeing that we are all connected and all part of a greater whole, then we stand a chance of making this painful lesson have meaning, to be the seed of LOVE , not HATE or FEAR, a seed that can be the catalyst to the new, to a shift of overwhelming postive force. No matter what your, beliefs, religious, non- religious, spiritual, cultural, there is one thread that runs throughout and that is; LOVE is always the answer. If we have differences, then lets examine them, lets discuss them lovingly and with empathy, courage and a real desire to understand one another. We may not all be able to agree, we may not be more right, or more wrong than one another, but then; just then, we may be able to be respectful of each other, be in harmony and live alongside one another, in an intergrated, not segregated way. You may say I'm a dreamer Until next time,
Make every moment a loving and peaceful one, Lisa xxx “A good memory is one that can remember the Yesterday I was asked into the studio of BBC Radio Lincolnshire, to comment on the UK's 2011 census, in which one question asked was ‘How is your health in general?’ In the East Midlands the results were as follows: "General Health in England and Wales, 2011 and Comparison with 2001" compares 326 local authority areas. The worst ten include: · East Lindsey (worst in the country with 73.5% reporting good health) · Bolsover (4th worst with 74.3% reporting "good health") · Mansfield (9th worst with 75.8% reporting good health). This compares with 88.1% in good health in the "best" local authority area, Hart. Now of course demographics play a part, with a higher number of older people living in East Lindsey than there are in Hart. But is there something more at play I wondered? How much do your thoughts affect your health? In Dr David Hamilton's blog 5 Ways that Positivity and Happiness can Protect you from Illness and even help you Live Longer we can see without any doubt that positive thinking has a direct impact on our health and well-being. This I can also corroborate, from not only my own personal experience, but also from my as a therapist who has for many years specialised in the areas of stress, anxiety and depression. When clients shift their thoughts even a small amount towards a more postive viewpoint their health also improves. Dr Hamilton make's the following point: 3) Counting blessings improves happiness This is backed up by a comprehensive study. So I urge you ( along with those living in the low scoring districts of the East Midlands) to take a moment each day to count your blessings and not your worries. It's all too easy at the end of the day to lay in bed at night, just before drifting into what you hope to be a peaceful slumber, with your thoughts running over and over your worries. In this extract from WebMD we can see that worrying, has no positive effect on solving issues, but does have a detrimental effect on our daily lives: "Worrying is feeling uneasy or being overly concerned about a situation or problem. With excessive worrying, your mind and body go into overdrive as you constantly focus on "what might happen." Not only this, our subconscious mind cannot distiguish between fact or fiction, so when we run through our script of all the things that can go wrong, it stores this information as real.... and then you wonder why you wake in the night, in a cold sweat from a nightmare? How about thinking about just how great things are and will be? How about as you lay in bed tonight, just before drifting into that peaceful slumber, your recall all of the blessings from the day? Tonight I urge you to count your blessings, name them one by one and say thank you! When we show gratitude for the blessings in our life do you know what happens? We notice more and more blessings to be grateful for. Imagine what that will do for your health and wellbeing? Here's another to tip. For anyone who's been to one of my talks recently, you may have heard me say "A hug a day , keeps the doctor away!" Lots of us take our mental and physical health seriously and we try to improve our daily lives with exercise, a good diet, even supplements. But theres one simple treatment that is often over-looked and its been shown through scientific studies to be an effective way to keep our heart and mental health on target. The power of the simple hug. In fact, studies show that folks who are regularly hugged by their close friends and family have reduced heart rates, lower blood pressure, increased nerve activity and more upbeat moods. A survey of successful marriages even showed that hugging and touching (not sexual intercourse), were the key factors in keeping the relationship long-lasting. Plus, a loving hug in the morning, researchers say, can keep you buoyant throughout the day. Just a brief hug or 10 minutes of handholding with a romantic partner greatly reduces the harmful physical effects of stress. Loving contact before a tough day at work "could carry over and protect you throughout the day," says psychologist Karen Grewen with the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill who conducted the study. So what are you waiting for? Get hugging! ( an oldie but goodie- Free hugs campaign) Until next time,
Make every moment count! BIG ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) Lisa x Here we are already in September, can you believe it? Wow is time speeding up ? Now some scientists would tell us it is, some would say time is an illusion, which ever school of thought you adopt, this year does seems to be moving mighty fast. Many times this week I have been reminded just what an important time we are living in. From the CD's I've been listening to in my car ( from Hay House I can do it 2009) to articles I've read, prompts on my newsfeed ,in passing conversation or even on TV ( with the numerous reports of the US rally's for the presidency) We are at a choice point. Now , more than ever before, we are at a point where we need to make some big choices. For ourselves, our family, friends, community and our World. Maybe this is what the Mayan's were really talking about - not the end of the World, but the end of the World as we know it! Add to this reports of hurricanes, extreme weather changes, wars and fighting you could be forgiven for believing the doom-mongers of the mayan prophecies, I personally don't follow that particular train of thought, rather I feel we are at the dawning of a new world age. "Both the Hopis and Mayans recognize that we are approaching the end of a World Age... In both cases, however, the Hopi and Mayan elders do not prophesy that everything will come to an end. Rather, this is a time of transition from one World Age into another. The message they give concerns our making a choice of how we enter the future ahead. Our moving through with either resistance or acceptance will determine whether the transition will happen with cataclysmic changes or gradual peace and tranquility. The same theme can be found reflected in the prophecies of many other Native American visionaries from Black Elk to Sun Bear." — Joseph Robert Jochmans Now you could get swept along, overwhelmed, not making any choice at all ( although in truth not making a choice , is infact a choice) or you can embrace this wonderful opportunity you have been given, by being here on this Earth at this pivotal point in our history. It really is time to stand in your truth, to be authentic and live from your heart. It really does start with you and me. As Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, commonly known as Mahatma (Great soul) Gandhi simply put it " Be the change you wish to see in the World" If you haven't yet seen the Choicepoint movement then I would urge you to take a look. The Choice Point Movement is a great place to gain insights from visionaries and others, who have shared experiences through their journey of transformation. The Choicepoint movie is also available to watch I was also reminded this week of a beautiful of music from Shawn Gallaway, who is a pioneer of the conscious music movement himself. His song "I choose love" sums up the choicepoint we face globally, but it also brings it home, it starts with us; me and you! So how will you start today? Even the smallest change of choosing love will create a ripple, just like a domino effect amoung all of those around you, and in turn the ripple is carried far and wide. So here's something you could do right now..... Today we hit the magic 200 in the manifesting magical abundance for all group. It really has become a wonderful inspiring community of like-minded souls, all sharing their attitude of gratitude and spreading a blanket of kindeness. If that sounds like a place you'd feel at home then do come along and join us as we cause a ripple around the World. Until next time,
Make every moment count, Lisa x Well what a wonderful day today has been!
Not only is the sun shinning her light high up in the sky once more, allowing us all to soak up some much needed vitamin D. But I have manifested magical abundance into my life today, and hopeful by the end of this blog, may have shared opportunity for you too to manifest magical abundance in your life and for all! A couple of weeks or more ago, I came across an interesting thread in the womenbizchat group on facebook.A wonderful lady Heather Waring had posted a link to her blog, the specific post was entitled "Experiment with your abundance bowl" Having read both the thread and the blog, it was something that really appealed to me and many others in the group. Very soon the thread was overflowing with commments and updates on peoples magical manifestations! A suggestion was made that perhaps we needed a group just for this type of topic.... so quite by accident ( or by total synchronicity) It was suggested I should start one. "Manifesting magical abundance for all" was born. At first it was myself and two other lovely ladies from the womebizchat group. I purposely didn't just add people, I wanted to allow the group to just attract and grow, and it has... Other than the amazing abundance bowl photos starting to fill the page, daily gratitude messages began to appear. Every day people are sharing the abundance they have received or witnessed, where the abundance has been "Paid forward" , what they have focussed their intent on manifesting, along with posts at the end of each day from members sharing their gratitude. The group has a life of its own, a growing energy, abundant with possibilties. I recently posted a picture of my Vision board, I did it quite some time ago now,and much has already manifest, I shared it along with some ideas and suggestions for others, should they wish to create a vision board too. I use a feng Shui bagua method when vision boarding, as I find it gives balance to all areas of life. Isn't it funny how things turn out? Some time ago you may recall I wrote about "Starting a ripple" I had a dream that it would start a ripple around the World, connecting people from all backgrounds, beliefs, faiths, and maybe even continents.... but we can never know how or when our intentions and dreams may manifest.... As is the case with "manifesting magical abundance for all!", when I had surrendered, let go of any attachement to the outcome of my intent and dream.... it happened, it manifested, the ripple has begun, maybe not how I had anticipated, maybe not in the way I had felt it might, but the univerese has found exactly the right time, with exactly the right people, with exactly the right stimulus ( thank you Heather) and so the ripple has begun and travels on! mmmm, Isn't it funny how things turn out? I found out today that I had been shortlisted for an award, exciting and wonderful in itself. I knew that I had been nominated for several catergories in the "Women inspiring women national awards" I didn't know who had nominated me in most cases and I was so humbled that so many peoaple had taken the time to make their nomination. I was very excited, I wondered if I might make the shortlist. To my absolute delight I have, but to my surprise it was for the Author/ Blogger catergory. Now I enjoy sharing my musings of life here on my blog, but you may have noticed I haven't blogged so much recently, my writing energy has gone into " Get a Life! -The guide book" ( out this year with O Books) but still I wasn't expecting to be shortlisted and recognised for my writing. As wonderful and amazing as it is, I was truly shocked and a little puzzeled, mmm I wondered what had helped manifest that particular catergory???? It was then I went to post in the Manifesting magical abundance group, to share my graitutde and feeling of abundance with my friends there, to ask if they felt they'd like to vote too :) .... I happened to look again at the post of my vision board... and then it struck me the words "Inspire" and "Writer" in the fame and recognition area of my board!!!! "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you". Where focus goes, energy flows...... and it has flowed! If ever I needed any reminder, here it is! So I thought I'd share with you this little tale, things don't always manifest in the way we expect them, but our thoughts do become things..... All we have to do is believe, form the thought, attach the energy in motion ( emotion) of a positive vibrational rate and then just get out of the way and let the universe do the rest! If you'd like to cast a vote for me, then I'd be truly grateful :) Do take a moment to take a look at all the other women who have been nominated for awards, there's some fantastic, inspiring women, doing amazing work. If you'd like to join in you can find the Manifesting magical abundance for all group HERE Until next time make every moment count, Lisa xxx |
