In today's episode I chat with Owen Lewis, Human Rights Advocate, Social Entrepreneur and one of Lincolnshire's 30 under 30.
Owen is a passionate human rights advocate and social entrepreneur identified as one of Lincolnshire’s 30 Under 30 Rising Stars by The Lincolnite in 2019. Their work focuses on creating and empowering inclusive communities, building better communication and using our voices to create social change.
Owen has led workshops across Europe focused on gender identity, sexual orientation, disability and race. They have worked in South Sudanese refugee camps and hospitals and works with global environment defenders as part of an international charity.
To learn more about Owen's work visit:
On the horizon.
And a song I don't know from Melanie C "On the horizon".
The first line jumps out at me today:
"People see different things when they look on the horizon"
Very apt right now perhaps ? 🤔
Let's see what shows up in our cards....
First card today is 11 Justice.
Master number 11 symbolises connection to a higher source of wisdom. It is intuitive to the point of being psychic, channeling its knowledge and meaning from a spiritual source.
Number 11's duty is to use this gift of awareness to deliver cosmic truths that encourage humanity.
It is a channel for truth and answers to reach us and help us on our way.
An interesting idea when we consider our potential interpretations of our horizon.
Justice represents balance in all if it's guises.... she weighs the balance, holding her sword of truth.
The sword symbolises the use of the conscious and logical mind. The scales represent fair and impartial judgement.
In all choices we make now we are being asked to consider this balance.
Our second card today sees a quick return of 6 The Lovers.
Today they appear to me to be caught up in a whirlwind, they seem to be in a situation in which a lot of things are happening very quickly and are very difficult for them to control and so they hang on to one another in the eye of the storm.
Whirlwinds represent the mother goddess in life and associated with rebirth due to the “spiral” shape.
The eye of the storm is symbolic as the key to rebirth as well as spiritual enlightenment.
Whilst all around them maybe being deconstructed ( in the storm) they are cocooned in the centre, preparing for rebirth into a simpler, calmer and more meaningful life.
Our final card today us the 2 of wands ( wands representative of the fire element and action)
She looks longingly out of her window to the horizon. The globe in front of her.
What is on her horizon I wonder 🤔?
I guess that is a matter of what she sees... or does not see.
There is much orange in the card, her zest and passion for life is present and yet her face seems dulled by her longing without action.
She is presented with a choice. What will she choose?
I guess this is our dilemma right now...
Which horizon are we setting a course towards ? And is it one we are choosing ?
And from the universal comms team we have Illenium & sound remedy spirals featuring king deco. ( another new one on me)
The beginning of the video looks a little like our first card today interestingly enough.
"Remember when our paradise was green grape vines and leaves" from the lyrics reminds me of our recent period of staying at home and treasuring nature more, and noticing nature more.... will we remember?
So let's see what our cards can illuminate for us today.
First card today is 16 The Tower. ... ah more sudden change I here you cry ! ( more plot twists than a Hollywood B movie in 2020 right ?)
In truth it feels like this story of transformation is speeding up right now.
Each day something new, each day another change, a new instruction, a shift in information. ( don't wear masks, wear masks if you want, masks aren't necessary, masks are mandatory) you get the idea.....
In the chaos of change we can either be consumed by the energy, or we can harness the energy to flow into the new, riding the flow and surfing the wave.
I guess all we can do is to expect the unexpected....
And have faith that all will be ok in the end... I think 2020 has been a lesson in this to be fair.
The 80s song by Toyah comes to mind "It's a mystery "
"Somewhere in the distance, hidden from view.
Suspended in the atmosphere, waiting to come through.
Sometimes it's so far away, sometimes it's very near.
Sound being carried by the wind, just loud enough to hear.
Feel its power within me, bells ringing in my head.
So often I have heard its cry, but forgotten what it said.
It's a mystery, it's a mystery, I'm still searching for a clue.
It's a mystery to me
shot in the dark
The big question mark in history
Is it a mystery to you?"
"It can lift you to the heavens
Put your troubles in the past"
Well I think 2020 will certainly be that big question mark in history, maybe it is to lift us into a new era and leave behind our troubles? Only time and distance will tell.
Our second card today is 6 The Lovers... funny as I type this I can hear the blind date music playing, courtesy of the universal comms team 😆... and Cilla saying " Surprise, surprise" ... I know two different shows... I don't make the rules of how this stuff comes to me .
This kind of suggests on the back of the previous card that we don't know what we don't know yet, we are being presented with choices to make at short notice( surprise, surprise) without all of the information, ( blind date).
I guess we're either going all in.... or not.... and with all that orange in the card, it suggests that we must follow our gut instinct to make that choice.
Our gut instinct is the physical reaction we have to the world around and inside of us.
When we experience an overwhelming “gut feeling,” our body is carrying out a primal response to subconscious information.
The ultimate purpose of our gut instinct is to protect us. As our gut instinct is the most ancient and primal “sixth sense” we have, it is the one we can rely upon the most.
Our final card today is the 4 of swords (swords representative of the air element and of thought, mind and intellect )
And so to rest .... a time to curl up in our nest , nurtured and safe, to rest and heal...
Chiron, the wounded healer , has entered a retrograde cycle in Aries right now, it means we are able to go within to tend our own wounds and reflect on how we have used them as a source of power and healing.
The poet Rumi says that "The wound is where the light enters you."
Along with finding the light from our wounds, this is also a time to think about the things that still pain us and how we may be able to create some space for ourselves, in order that we may heal and transform them into growth, power and light.
“The pain of our experience becomes our greatest teacher and the lesson we learn is who we truly are beyond our wounds.“
- Linda Star Wolf and Ruby Falconer.
Under this energy, we can allow our wounds to help us take action for a brighter future.
In today's episode I chat with author, yoga and mindfulness teacher Brett Moran, who now lives on a beautiful island off of the coast of Thailand, where he runs yoga and meditation retreats.
A far cry from his earlier life as a drug dealer, addict and prison inmate, he shares his transformational journey from as he puts it "crack to coconuts"

Wild is the wind.
And from the universal comms team, David Bowie and of course the song of the same title "Wild is the wind", I was trying to remember if the team had given this song before, well no matter it's here again if so. The haunting sound of my idol Bowie.
The lyrics that stand out for me today are:
"For my love is like the wind and wild is the wind,
Wild is the wind.
Let the wind blow through your heart, for wild is the wind,
Wild is the wind.
Don't you know you're
The phrase "Blow away the cobwebs" comes to mind, this of course meaning, to banish a state of lethargy or to refresh oneself. Blowing the cobwebs away brings an energetic and lively feeling, putting a spring in our step and making us feel alive.
Lets see how this is mirrored in our cards for today.
First card out today is the 8 of pentacles ( pentacles representative of the earth element and manifestation)
Many hours of work and study have gone into this young woman's progress. It is a labour of love, she is truly on purpose, she is moving ever closer to fulfilling a soul-full life.
We can see in the card, she is taking a moment of reflection as she gazes into the candle flame of a green candle, related to the earth element, growth, personal goals and healing.
There is a feeling of forward movement in the colours and design of the card, all towards that radiant light ahead.
We see the depiction of many moons above her, this has been some time in the making. All of the hard work is paying off.
Her left ankle is crossed over her right. She is still emotionally holding back, almost waiting with baited breath for the outcome of her heartfelt efforts thus far.
Our second card today is the 3 of swords ( swords representative of the air element and of thought, mind and intellect)
It looks at first glance, a deeply emotional card and yet it is from the air element, so very much ruling thoughts. How we are thinking about what is lost causes more pain than the reality of what is.
This can also be a card of new inspiration. What was before, has maybe changed,is not as was planned. Maybe all of the efforts of the past may feel pointless and yet, if we just take a different look at the image, we could say that the heart is suspending the girl, whilst it may have been a painful journey, her heart sustains her and uplifts her.
If she can get out of her head and those negative thought patterns, she could potentially feel her way into a new way of being.
The phrase "cutting ties" comes to mind. As we move through our lives, growing, learning, evolving, we must let go of that which no longer serves us. When we let go, we create space. This space is that of potential, of possibility.
We can think of this like a period of transition. Each day we are evolving. Learning and growing beyond what we once were. Holding on to what was, would prevent us from moving forward.
If we were to continue accumulating all of the old experiences, from every past thought, action and experience, we would be heavily weighted down by the burden of it all.
Cutting ties ( or cutting energetic chords) assists us with this transition, without the burden of carrying the weight of the past. It frees us to move forward with lightness and a sense of openness.
Our final card today is the knight of swords. Having done the hard work, the growth, the healing, followed by cutting the ties of the past we are ready to really go for it. This air element card embodying the wildness of the wind, aiding his speed in moving forward.
I hear the phrase " Wind at his back" meaning forward momentum and a boost in our prospects for success due to favorable events or circumstances.
It feels like a massive shift change is occurring in our storytelling today.
We are being propelled forwards; at speed, leaving behind what was and embracing what is now coming.
And from the universal comms team a song sprung straight into my mind, from the band America " Horse with no name".
The first verse jumped out at me:
"On the first part of the journey, I was looking at all the life.
There were plants and birds and rocks and things, there was sand and hills and rings.
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz and the sky with no clouds.
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound".
A little like mother Earth after her recent rest. We started to notice nature coming to life more, the birdsong was louder, the skies were free of planes and chemtrails and we noticed just how beautiful Gaia became when we slowed down.
We began to feel more at one with nature.
So onto our cards for today.
First card today is 0 The Fool.... poised at the very beginning of the journey.
The “Fool's journey,” begins with the fool and the childlike innocence of someone just coming into the world and ends with wholeness and fulfillment of a person who has well learned life's lessons.
The Fool is excited to go on their journey, not aware of the risks and downfalls that they may meet along the way.
The fool is the answer to the pure call to adventure. It could be said as we emerge back into the world, we are responding to our own call to adventure, after a period of reclusive weeks or months for many.
It seeds a new beginning, just like our card we find ourselves on that cliff edge, ready to take the leap of faith with wild abandon..... but take the step we must , if we are to reach our dreams for the future.
Our second card today is the 10 of wands ( wands representative of the fire element and action)
Ahh it's been a heavy load, perhaps our card today is urging us to lighten the load, streamline or delegate some of our burdens and responsibilities. The journey has been tiring and taxing , yet its another push to reach our goals.
Today I see the animal helper as a yak.
The Yak spirit animal is such a powerful spirit guide with ancient wisdom. Its presence in our life could be symbolic of being overprotective or over cautious perhaps ?
It's also symbolic of endurance. It can survive in extreme cold weather conditions, this is a reminder for us to learn how to survive and persevere.
If we put our plans to action and keep the focus regardless of the obstacles we may face, eventually we will come out victorious. Whether the conditions are favorable or not, yak suggests that we must choose to forge ahead.
Our final card for today is the 2 of cups ( cups representative of the water element and of feelings and emotions)
This is a card of connection, collaboration, love and partnership.
We see two hands held and entwined together. The rainbow of energy from water element combining together between both cups ( or singing bowls)
The intertwined hands symbolise friendship, love and hope.
The interlocked fingers signify a deeper connection both emotionally and physically.
Most of all, holding hands means, “We are stronger together than we are apart".
To walk hand in hand with someone is to walk with someone who is on our level. We are both on the same path, aligned by the same purpose, drawn together by the same meaning.
As human beings, we want to connect with one another. We want to feel the life going through someone else and have it affirmed that the same life flows through us.
We want to feel valued, to be trusted, and be able to trust, most of all, we want love.
I guess this could be symbolic of our relationship with one another and also with mother Earth, we are all ultimately headed in the same direction and life flows throughout us all and all of nature.
The journey continues, in fact it feels that we are at the start of a new fools journey, yet we are perhaps the fool returned , about to step into a new cycle of life... together, in unison as one with all of nature.
The lightening strike.
And from the universal comms team a song I haven't heard before of the same title, from Snow Patrol.
The lyrics make me think of the risk of loosing sight of the lessons we have learned during the past few months. Of taking things foregranted once more perhaps, of not taking this moment to recognise how far we've come.
Let's see what our cards suggest.
First card today is 16 The Tower, often associated with sudden or unexpected change, I can identify with this, as us therapists were told that we can return to seeing clients , albeit with some restrictions from Monday.... now that was unexpected 😳
I will be a little while longer before I am able to provided face to face appointments in truth, but this is the type of thing that is sprung on us with this energy.
What I'm specifically drawn to today is the butterflies.
Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection. Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope and life.
An orange butterfly represents passion, but it can also represent agressiveness. The appearance of an orange butterfly reminds us to stay positive.
It also looks like fireflies to me in the card , as I look at it today. As a creature of light, it should come as no surprise that the firefly is a symbol of illumination.
Fireflies produce a “blue light”, symbolic to wisdom, inspiration and healing, a gift from the universe, an inner glow of heavenly spirit energy.
Maybe something is being illuminated today ? Maybe another reminder to recognise the massive changes we have been through, changes that were thrust upon us without real preparation or warning.
Our second card is the 7 of swords ( swords representative of the air element and of thought, mind and intellect )
Again we have illumination, this time it is the light of the moon, which in our card is full.
The Moon represents powerful feminine energy. It signifies wisdom, intuition, birth, death, reincarnation, and a spiritual connection. The cyclical changes of the moon represents the rhythm of life within us.
The moon also represents our deepest personal needs. At the full moon the Sun illuminates the entire moon. This particular moon cycle signifies release and sealing of intention.
Perhaps symbolic of the letting go of the old ways of being in the world and setting our intention as we step back into the world, changed.
And yet in our card the intention that is depicted, doesn't appear a positive one, I wonder are we being misled in someway, or are we misleading ourselves that all is back to what it once was ?
Only time will tell, if we come from a place of love and an intent of a pure heart then we can be safe in the knowledge we have taken 'right action' with the information and resources available to us.
It feels like perhaps someone is being 'called out' in terms of the true intentions behind their actions.
I wonder if it is raising the questions of the balance of risk between health and economy that we find the nation, well in fact the World inbetween right now ?
Our final card today is the 9 of pentacles ( pentacles representative of the earth element and manifestation)
Ahhh.... haven't we come a long way in these past months?
It's time to recognise our successes, not just hurry on, rushing by the moment. It's a precious time to stop and appreciate the journey and just how much has been achieved.
Let's not miss this moment to celebrate our progress. As we have recently experienced, it can change without warning, so every small move forwards is to be savoured.
And from the universal comms team, an old classic from Sam Cooke "Cupid".
Looking at the lyrics, what comes to mind is a call for love above all else.
Two of the major planets in our solar system bear the names of Cupid's mother Venus (Love) and his father Mars (War).
Cupid was said to carry two arrows, one gold tipped and the other with a blunted tip of Lead .
A suggestion then of a choice between love or war.... or perhaps love or fear? Or maybe togetherness or separation?
This reminds me of a song I heard years ago, " I choose love" by Shawn Gallaway.
Looking at the lyrics of this song , we are clearly being given a choice between love or fear right now.
I can see laughter or I can see tears
I see a choice
Of love or fear
What do you choose?
I can see peace or I can see war
I can see sunshine
Or I can see a storm
What do you choose?
I choose to love with freedom fire[?]
From my heart where the light keeps shining
And I choose to feel the whole world crying for the strength that we can rise above
I choose love, I choose love
Let's see how this plays out in today's cards...
First card out today is the queen of swords ( swords representative of the air element and of the mind, thoughts and intellect)
She can seem distant or aloof, yet in truth she is simply "rising above" as in our song. She is calm ,considered and truth seeker. She doesn't get caught up in low vibrations or low energetic drama. She keeps her thoughts elevated to a higher perspective, whilst she may seem a little cool on the exterior she cares deeply for those around her and the World. She sees beyond the illusion, the masks, the gloss to witness the truth.
We see her cup of emotion carefully protected by her feet, she may appear to be in her head and logic, yet don't be misled she has deep feeling in her heart.
She represents our independent wisdom and inner truth, she suggests that we should make up our own mind now, based on truth and not be misled by media, gossip and hearsay, but follow our own considered truth.
Our second card today is 6 The Lovers.
We see a man and a woman in a loving embrace. They look into one another's eyes...
William Shakespeare once said “The Eyes are the window to your soul” The great Roman philosopher Cicero also said, "The face is a picture of the mind as the eyes are its interpreter." In the bible Matthew reveals, "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!"
Perhaps suggesting that the truth is seated in the soul, the eyes then giving us a glimpse of the truth behind any mask.
We notice that the two figures have skin of different colour, their love and connection is deeply powerful, their souls are not limited by any differences in outward appearance, they know that they are connected, they are one, they are a part of the greater whole.
On her back we see the Celtic symbol Triskelion, a symbol comprised of three conjoined spirals with rotational symmetry, it is also called “the triple spiral”.
For the Celts, firstly it was used to represent triune/triadic/triple deities, in other words, three deities worshipped as one.
It also represents triple nature and the movement of life which is formed of past, present and future .The triskelion was also a symbol of strength in Celtic culture since it represents the will to move forward overcoming adverse conditions we might face.
The triskelion symbol looks like it is moving and in that sense, it is also considered as the symbol of progress, personal growth and improvement.
Our final card for today is the king of cups ( cups representative of the water element and of feelings and emotions)
We see our king in a meditative state. Around his crown is the light of illumination. Around his neck he wears the symbol of the fish.
A fish symbolises, creativity, rebirth, transformation, health, abundance, serenity, strength, and endurance. Connecting us with the water element, it represents the deeper awareness of the unconsciousness or higher self.
We see that he wears a ring on his middle finger of his right hand. The middle finger is symbolic of balance and order,
being in the center of the hand.
The light around his crown is drawn down to emanate from his heart.
The energy of the crown chakra describes our direct relationship with God, the Divine, heaven, universe, whatever term best describes our image of the highest spirituality we can imagine. Energy that enters the crown is very high vibrational, spiritual energy.
This Light energy brings with it the vibrational equivalent of qualities that can be embodied in human existence.
The vibrations of each of these qualities matches up with a specific chakra vibration, each chakra has the seeds of specific qualities contained within it.
So as the Light travels downward through the body, it awakens the seed of each specific quality in its corresponding chakra.
As it passes through the heart, it awakens the seed of harmony, compassion and unconditional love that already exist in our heart chakra. As the Light energy is circulated in the heart chakra, our own seed of these qualities begin to expand.
This energy radiates outward, so at first we feel the sense of harmony, compassion and unconditional love within us and then we begin emanate the energy so that people around us experience it as well. This continues, flowing throughout the web of energy by which all life is connected, eventually having an effect on all of creation.
So today seems to be all about "Love" , being love, sharing love, emanating love, adding to love in the World.
"Listen to the inner light; it will guide you. Listen to inner peace; it will feed you. Listen to inner love; it will transform you, it will divinise you, it will immortalise you".
Running up that hill.
From the universal comms team we have a song of the same title from Kate Bush.
The lyrics that jump out today are :
Ooh, there is thunder in our hearts
Is there so much hate for the ones we love?
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?
And I'd get him to swap our places
I'd be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Let's see how it threads through our cards today.
First card today is the 2 of pentacles ( pentacles representative of the earth element and manifestation)
Strangely as I look at the card today I'm drawn to the upper pentacle in the picture and it reminds me of a nucleus.
In biology, the nucleus is the central and most important constituent of cells, forming the basis for growth and activity.
From a symbolic point of view we can view the "nucleus" as showing us that we are at the core of an issue or the centre of a debate. It is a place of beginning and of inspiration.
We are in a time of energising ideas and coming to terms with issues. We may feel we are about to be challenged, with the challenger being used to having power and winning. They may use tactics such as coercion or manipulation, to impress their will .
It suggests it's time to stand our ground and believe in our selves; for in doing so, we will rise above the emotional trauma of the issue and be able to make clear, decisive choices.
It's not a time to make any hasty decisions however, or feel we must do anything that does not feel right. We are urged then perhaps, to follow our intuition, follow our heart, and be true to ourselves.
It's about finding that space of equilibrium, that inner and outer balance in the World.
Our second card today is the knight of swords, there he is running up that hill. He is swift in his action towards his goal, in his hoodie , he could be seen as a modern day super-hero
( wearing his hooded cape)
The crossbow slung over his back is generally a symbol of strength, agility and being the protector.
I'm also drawn to the soles of his trainers, covered in what looks like binary code. The binary code of ones and zeros that we are familiar with from "The Matrix" film, really does hold a deeper meaning . ( we will never watch that film trilogy in the same light again!)
The film is about an unreal, holographic, world wherein there are millions of slaves, performing a role in the society, such as doctors, teachers, lawyers, politicians etc.
They all carry on, fueling the very system that enslaves them, yet they are unaware of the truth because their “minds” are essentially still plugged into what is called the “machine.”
The Machine is what generates the matrix via Binary Code through the mind, and we see the cause and effect of "As Within So Without".
Maybe this is asking us to consider what is real and what is not, what is truth and what is not. We may have conditioned our minds to believe that the World isn't a safe place over these past months and now it may feel difficult to shake off that belief, or the opposite may be true.
Whichever is true for us, we are being given an opportunity then perhaps to reconsider our viewpoint, to find a comfortable space in which to move forwards.
From an esoteric viewpoint we can easily ascertain that 0 (zero) resembles nothing and 1 (one) resembles something.
Taking us back to the void I mentioned the other day. Out of nothing we have the opportunity create something so to speak.
Number one means new beginnings, a fresh start, achievement, optimism, insight, intuition and manifesting linked to our ideas and actions. This is doubled so that means double the power.
Number zero means"Divine energy, unity, timelessness and to continue on. When the zero accompanies any number, it increases the power of that number so in this case it's behind the number one doubled, so powerful positive new beginnings then!
Angel Number 1010 means that by listening to our inner voice and feelings, we can achieve your dreams and goals.
It suggests strongly to take action and be proactive in accomplishing our goals. This will lead you to a life of living our dreams in harmony, peace and happiness.
Our final card today is 10 The Wheel ( The 1 and zero haven't missed my attention here of course)
And with regards to running up that hill, the wheel gives us traction in the upward trajectory of course.
We see a woman keeping her balance as she spirals up and forwards .The spiral is the age-old intuitive symbol of spiritual development and our identity with the universe.
As ‘re-volution’ or ‘re-evolution’, the spiral progression is symbolic of the transpersonal route to that higher level of consciousness.
In summary then today, perhaps we may feel like we are running up that hill, still constrained by our own internal thoughts, I guess it's a question of personal discernment of how to evolve from here.
In today's episode I chat with best selling business author, motivational speaker and founder of 4 Networking, the one and only Brad Burton.

Whoomp there it is.
And what a blast from the past from the universal comms team today, reminding me of a team development day with my old Miss Selfridge crew at Drayton Manor ( you had to be there) .... It's Tag Team and "Whoomp! there it is"
I'm guessing this is a suggestion of revealing something that wasn't seen before.
Let's see shall we?
First card out today is 16. The Tower. Today I'm drawn straight to the forked lightning.
Lightning is a metaphor for human emotions such as: Fear, reverence, creativity and much more. Witnessing lightning has a tendency to churn up a whole range of internal reactions. In essence, lightning ignites our deeper selves. These bolts of energy can potentially tap into our most primal, basic emotions.
The bolt of lightning is a traditional symbol of sudden illumination and the destruction of ignorance.
Jung saw lightning as liberating the soul.
Maybe uncovering a mystery then, perhaps like our theme tune today revealing something that wasn't seen before.
Once revealed there is complete transformation.
The light behind the tree almost looks like a whirlwind as I look at it now. The whirlwind describes a situation in which a lot of things happen very quickly and are very difficult for us to control.
We see a squirrel in the foreground, the squirrel's cheerful activity is a reminder for us to play and enjoy life. Their propensity to hide acorns is a lesson in being prepared. The squirrel meaning is about surrendering and letting things happen, we have little control in any case so might as well be the observer.
The acorns we see in the card are symbolic of strength and power, as well as hard work and perseverance.
“The strongest oak of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It’s the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for existence against the winds and rains and the scorching sun.” ~ Napoleon Hill.
I guess this is suggesting that although there may be storms, we can stand strong in the face of whatever may come.
The second card today is the 6 of cups ( cups representative of the water element and of feelings and emotions).
A nostalgic card this one. The journey of a life stretching out across the card. This is a card of reflecting and learning from the journey, those things that give us warm fuzzy feelings and those things trigger old wounds. This is a perfect time to heal and grow from our life experiences.
I'm drawn to the bright shinning stars in the background of the card today. The word 'Supernova' comes to mind. A supernova is a powerful and luminous stellar explosion, it is of course the death of a star.
As the star explodes, chemical material created throughout the star's lifetime is blown off into space, eventually becoming part of new stars and planets. Not only does the debris create new life, but after eruption, the star's luminosity suddenly increases millions of times above its normal level.
The star seems to be relating its life story: birth, growth, death, and even afterlife, in one pivotal moment.
It could be a metaphor for our own journey, the idea of being put under great pressure to reveal a greater light. To reach the core, to uncover our essence, sometimes, we need to be challenged. Like the supernova, it can at times be painful; it but it then reveals the most amazing opportunity for us to shine brighter than ever before.
Our final card today is the 3 of swords ( swords representative of air element and of thoughts and intellect).
The words that come are "Shout, shout, let it all out" and an outpouring of thoughts and feelings follow. Whilst it can be an uncomfortable card to look at, it is in truth just a release of trapped thoughts and emotions, now being expressed to be transmuted and healed. ( think Whoomp there it is and supernova)
The red of the heart is the colour of the base or root chakra, bringing us safety, security and a firm foundation. Where we were perhaps stuck in cycles of repeating thoughts, a bit like a cognitive hamster wheel, we can now release and let go.
What we maybe had planned, the direction we were headed in before this unique time in our history may have changed beyond all recognition, we are now honouring the feeling of that disappointment perhaps, this is the opportunity to rise like a phoenix and create a new version an even better version of our life and way of being. New inspiration is on it's way.
The phoenix represents transformation, death, and rebirth in it's fire. As a powerful spiritual totem, the phoenix is the ultimate symbol of strength and renewal ( just like those acorns). As both a fire and solar symbol, the phoenix animal guide is symbolic of the sun, which “dies” in setting each night only to be reborn in rising the next morning.
So some strong themes of transformation today. Revealing that which is unseen to grow and evolve to an even greater version of ourselves and the world.
Written in the stars.
And great song from the universal comms team by Tinie Tempah featuring Eric Turner
"written in the stars "
Interesting as I just watched the latest astrology update from Pam Gregory, which is well worth a watch.
Looking at the lyrics I notice:
"Where the hells all the sanity at, damn
I used to be the kid that no one cared about
That's why you have to keep screaming 'til they hear you out
Oh written in the stars
A million miles away"
Perhaps reminding us to remain level headed in order to be heard, that there is a bigger story at play here.
Let's see how this shows up in our cards today.
The first card today is the 9 of wands (wands representative of the fire element and action)
I'm drawn straight to the halo around the flame today.
A halo around the flame indicates an approaching storm and the woman in our card certainly looks like she is set and ready, with a defiant look on her face.
She appears to me today to be in her guard. She is ready to be the light bearer and the wayshower.
Light bearers are souls that reincarnate on the Earth generally as healers in order to help other people improve their lives.
A wayshower is one who embodies the qualities that he or she wishes others to absorb and learn, who manifests these qualities in full measure so that the light that they carry can transfer to the consciousness of all who behold them.
Wayshowers are often found within challenging times and challenging circumstances, for Divine intention seeds them there with the idea of helping others move forward through these times of turbulence by showing and offering a pathway through.
Our second card today is the 3 of cups ( cups representative of the water element and of feelings and emotions)
We see three woman looking heavenward, arm in arm.
The look up at the stars above. We can see seven stars , the seven sisters of the paladies.
Pleiadean energy is associated with building healthy communities, learning to live off the land in a harmonious way and creating a sense of love and belonging.
The brightest star in the Pleiades is Alcyone and she is often viewed to be the female equivalent of Sirius.
I spoke a lot about us being in the Sirius gateway at the weekend, at the same time as the full moon eclipse .
Just like Sirius, Alcyone is a high vibrational star that is extremely powerful and potent.
If we think of Sirius as our Spiritual Sun, Alcyone could almost be like our Spiritual Moon.
In Greek, Alcyone means 'the queen who wards off evil storms'.
Alcyone is also said to bring waves of feminine energy to Earth, It represents our ability to go with the flow, to listen and trust our intuition.
Feminine energy is our ability to be patient and compassionate.
The seven sisters are at their brightest and most energetically powerful in May and November maybe a timeline being suggested here.
Our final card today is 9 The Hermit.... another 9.
9 relates to wisdom and responsibility and the ultimate goal of the number 9 is to serve humanity.
This vibration has come to serve the world and make it a better place for all to live in. 9 represents human's 'earthly lesson', which is 'forgiveness'. Number 9 learns selflessness and compassion.
It also represents karma and the universal spiritual laws.
We see our subject in a place of introspection.
She has found enlightenment and illumination. Her task now is to bring that awakened state back to her daily life.
Everything has changed and is mutable and continually shifting.
Holding her centre will require all of her acquired deep wisdom.
The words "rise above the storm" come to mind.
Which leads me to a song title of the same...
The lyrics are very interesting...
"Get the energy up, spread it all around.
Everybody's gonna get it, going through it right now.
If you're patient,
Everything will be okay.
If you're persistent,
Troubles will seem far away.
Perseverance is the key
To everything you achieve.
Seek out the truth,
Don't forget about what you believe.
Rise above the storm,
You can find what you,
Have been looking for
Climb above the clouds,
You can be the one,
To shout it out loud".
It would appear today that we have message of strong Astrological Influence right through to November (and beyond)
We are not yet out of the storm, yet we can rise above it if we can follow our intuition with love and compassion.
In today's episode I'm joined by young entrepreneur Ethan Mercer who has created the conscious clothing brand WDYW and his collaboration with the MIND charity.
We talk about his dreams, his own personal journey and he shares his top life tip.

An in-depth explanation behind the collection:
And from the universal comms team we have a song from Kelly Rowland and "Work"
The lyrics that jump out at me today :
No turning back from this party
Put you through enough to come play
Best take advantage, be all that you can be
Best take advantage, see all that you can see
Suggesting perhaps that after all we have been through and endured these past months, we had better put the work in, take the learning, take the lessons, and be the very best we can be.
Let's see how this shows up in our cards for today...
First out today is 20 Judgement. The word that comes with this card for me today is "release". It's the letting go of the old in simple terms. Letting go means having trust that things will get better. It means being brave to move forward to get to where we want to be. Letting go means accepting the things we can't change and doing something about the things we can.
“The only thing a person can ever really do is keep moving forward. Take that big leap forward without hesitation, without once looking back. Simply forget the past and forge toward the future.” – Alyson Noel
Kind of follows on from the appearance of The fool yesterday doesn't it?
Our second card today is the 3 of pentacles ( pentacles representative of the earth element and of manifestation)
We see three people working together to create a beautiful piece of macrame. In my research I was drawn to the symbology of the letters in the word Macrame ( From name echo):
'M' holds the vibration of concentration on the end results of our work.
The karma of 'A' is linked to ambitious ideas and being inspired by new discoveries.
C can become fixated by ideas and in all likelihood will demonstrate a more practical than emotional position.
With 'R' resonating with the intensity of the number 9, it is considered to be driven by peace, in whatever forms this may come up.
Within the 'A' there is a yearning for creating opportunities for ourselves and those dear to us.
In an unbalanced state, the 'M' is very erratic, prone to conflict and holding grudges.
The effect of 'E' may come across as complicated in a group of people or in the wider community, offering many recommendations, when in truth all they wish for is offer a helping hand.
Quite interesting, if you consider this in the context of our story.
I guess the message is how do we all work together harmoniously, with our many quirks and different ideas of the way forward? Perhaps it is in the collective assets of the whole we can achieve something beautiful and amazing. It just takes us to recognise the many differences as gifts to be celebrated.
Our final card for today if the ace of wands, ( wands representative of the fire element and action)
With a little research I discover that the net around the head of our subject is representative of "Indra's net".
Indra’s Net symbolises the universe as a web of connections and interdependencies among all its members, wherein every member is both a manifestation of the whole and inseparable from the whole.
The net is said to be infinite, and to spread in all directions with no beginning or end. At each node of the net is a jewel, so arranged that every jewel reflects all the other jewels. No jewel exists by itself independently of the rest. Everything is related to everything else; nothing is isolated.
Each jewel of Indra’s Net includes the reflections of all the other jewels; the significance of this symbolism is that each entity in the universe contains within itself the entire universe. This idea, rather than positing interdependence among separately existing entities, asserts that the whole does not owe its existence to the coming together of individual parts that have independent existence.
Indeed, the existence of each individual part is contingent upon, and relative to, the existence of the whole and of all the other parts. Yet, paradoxically, each individual part also ‘contains’ the whole within itself. Put simply, the whole and the parts are inseparable.
A beautiful card then to follow on from the 3 of pentacles today, another reminder that in simple terms we are all part of the greater whole and the greater whole if a part of each and every one of us.
We are one.
And one are we.
The world in our hands.
Blimey the universal comms team have dug into the archives today ... with a song from Laurie London
"He's got the whole world in his hands"...
I'm transported back to infant school assembly for this one.
This version is way before my time though with a 1958 rendition.
As the title implies, the song is suggests that God/ creator/ universe/ higher power ( insert your own preference) is in control of all aspects of creation and we should take comfort in his/ her/ their presence.
From the birds in the air and the fish in the sea to "little bitsy babies" and grown-up gamblin' men, everything is in the hands of a greater influence.
Of course there's a religious connotation to this well known song, however in the context of our storytelling today , it perhaps implies that there are things we can effect and things that outside of our influence or control and that as long as we do our bit ( the bit we can influence) then we can take comfort in the knowledge that we are doing and being all that we can in any given moment and circumstance, all else we can only let go and let God/ creator/universe/ higher power ....( add your own word) .... handle the rest.
Let's see what our cards add to this thought.
First out today is 0 The Fool. Leaning over that cliff edge we can see this young woman is on the cusp of a new beginning, ( see the seeds of life down below?) all it takes is a leap of faith.... a nice little seamless link perhaps to today's soundtrack?
She holds a beginners mind. Curious and open to all possibilities, not yet hindered by conditioning or doubt.
She holds an amethyst point in her hand. Amethyst is known as one of the master crystals when it comes to spirituality.
It is a powerful protection stone creating a bubble around the carrier, warding off negative energy.
Amethyst assists in encouraging our growth towards our higher potential and spiritual expansion. It also brings peace, insight and calmness.
Perhaps suggesting that although we find ourselves at the point of stepping out into the unknown ( that void again) , not knowing if we will fall or be held in saftey ....we have to hold faith that all will be well, as we move forward in this next chapter.
Our second card today is the queen of wands.( wands representative of the fire element and action)
She holds the spark in her hand , she's ready to step into her purpose. She is choosing love over fear, it's a time for bold action.
It's he time to shine that's for sure, her passion is palpable.
She's ready to create some magic.
As we step out over that cliff edge , we are in new uncharted territory, it's going to call on all of our creativity, inspiration, purpose and passion. We might not get it spot on from the get go, yet we're asked to give it our best regardless.
Our final card today is a return of the king of wands. He's the ultimate visonary , an entrepreneurial leader, charismatic with a strong presence in the world.
Wow what a combination the fool and both the queen and king of wands.... get ready for a new compelling vision folks, we are in for an adventure and there's no doubt.
Turning dreams and ideas into almost immediate action, this is going to be a very interesting time ......maverick....yes, quite possibly .... well let's be honest... most definitely.
That void just became a Time warp... thrusting us forward faster than we imagined possible.
It's like we just stepped into a vortex , like the ones in star trek and old space movies.... one that moves us through time and space at the speed of light.
Interesting times ahead, best buckle up !
And from the universal comms team, another new song to me One Republic and "Connection"
Some very interesting lyrics with this one....
"These days my waves get lost in the oceans
Seven billion swimmers, man I'm going through the motions
Sent up a flare, I need love and devotion
Traded for some faces that I never know, notion
Maybe I should try to find the old me
Take me to the places and the people that know me
Tryin' to disconnect, thinking maybe you could show me
If there's so many people here, then why am I so lonely?
Can I get a connection?
I'm just tryin' to paint the picture for me
Something I could give a damn about at maybe 40
Years and I be ready and willing and able to edit the story
'Cause there's so many people here to be so damn lonely
Can I get a connection?"
A strong feeling from these lyrics of a message of needing a greater more meaningful connection both with ourselves and between us all here on planet Earth perhaps?
So let's see how this threads through our cards today, all from the major arcana!
First out today is 17 The star, this is especially interesting as we are in the energy of not only the lunar eclipse early tomorrow morning, but also the Sirius gateway.
Every year during the first week of July, a sacred gateway of energy is activated between Earth and the star Sirius, bringing heightened vibrations and spiritual advancements, a time where all of humanity can raise their levels of consciousness.
At this time, the Sun and the Earth are the furthest away from each other, making way for the energy of another to be thrust into the limelight. This star shines 23 times brighter than our own Sun and is known as Sirius or Earth’s “Spiritual Sun”.
Sirius has long been revered by many ancient cultures and was believed to be the gateway to heaven. In Ancient Egypt, Sirius was considered to be the star of the goddess Isis, who ruled over death and rebirth.
Sirius itself holds the energy of freedom and is all about expanding our awareness so we can let go of limitations.
So in our card we can see a woman looking heavenward towards the brightest star in the sky, could this be Sirius I wonder?
It feels a time of advancement in our consciousness and connection to universal energy..... Take a closer look at the card... what do you see? ;)
Our second card today is 6 The Lovers. Now there's a depiction of soulful connection if ever you needed one.
The film Avatar comes to mind today with this card. If you've never seen this film, it may be one for the watch list this weekend, a truly beautiful film, with I believe, a deeper message.
Within this storyline we witness the depiction of a spiritually interconnected eco-system, the story revealsthat the goal of the Mother Goddess is not to “take sides” in any war, but to “protect only the balance of life.”
I'm also drawn to the Merkaba in between the two people, I've mentioned this before, but if this is a first-time read then I'll give you a little more insight.
The Merkaba, translates literally to light, spirit, body.
The Merkaba Symbol is a shape made of 2 intersecting tetrahedrons that spin in opposite directions, creating a 3-dimensional energy field.
We can activate this vehicle of light around our own body with practiced meditation and breathing techniques.
The merkaba is said to provide protection and transport our consciousness to higher dimensions. The merkaba shape reminds us of the potential power we can wield when we unite our own energies in pursuit of connection and growth.
( there's that connection word again).
Our final card today is 15 The Devil. I know many folk don't like to see this card, but as I've said many times there are no good or bad cards, they all have duality weaved within them.
What I do notice today, is the figure in the bottom right-hand corner of the card. What do you notice about him?
Yep he's wearing what looks like a face mask and gloves.... seem familiar?
Also do you notice those strings he's attached to?
Hmm he's the puppet and we see the puppeteer pulling on those strings.
We also notice that he's holding his head... maybe suggesting that his thoughts are the real challenge here.
I wonder what his conditioned response is saying to him ?
It is in the darkness that we are truly free to heal. And as the full moon is about to be thrust into the darkness of the lunar eclipse, maybe this is the perfect time to cleanse and clear all of those habits, limiting beliefs and old patterns that are holding us in a place of fear, limitation and unhelpful thinking patterns.
The Devil card today is actually inviting us to step into that void ( I wrote about this yesterday)so that we can break free of the chains that bind us, in order that we can illuminate those things that hold too much sway over our attention and find a deeper, more healthy, soulful and meaningful connection with both ourselves and the World that we inhabit.
Well some strong threads of connection today in our storytelling. It does seem like we are standing at the edge of a choice point moment.
We are perhaps being gifted the perfect alignment of energies to clear, cleanse and connect at a more truly evolved level than ever before.
Into the valley.
And I'm transported back to my youth by the universal comms team, with a song from The Skids "Into the Valley" a bit of a punkish start today!
As it's an old punk number, you could be forgiven for not being able to discipher many of the lyrics, no worries, I've looked them up for us.
Very interesting they are too... The lines that jump out are:
Realisations no virtue, but who can define
Those masses a line.
This disease is catching, from victory to stone
Out of concealment, blank and stark eyed
Why so uncertain, this culture deceives
Prophesised, brainwashed, tomorrow's demise
All systems failing,the placards unroll.
Cor blimey! could be the narrative of the past few months.
I think I'm going to just leave that there and let you make of it what you will.... I never know what's going to come out of these songs by the way.
On to our first card of the day,
So first out today is the 7 of wands ( wands representative of the fire element and of action).
We see a woman meditating, in her own little bubble. She has a bright shinning sun emanating from her solar plexus.
The symbol of the sun is an alchemy symbol. It is a symbol of origin that represents the completing of the Great Work. The sun represents life, influence, and strength.
The Solar Plexus, or Manipura, refers to the third chakra. It spins in the area around the abdomen above the belly button up to the breastbone. Meaning “lustrous gem” in Sanskrit, the Manipura chakra provides a source of personal power and relates to self-esteem, warrior energy, and the power of transformation, it's colour is that of a bright yellow sun.
In front of our subject we see multi coloured wands pointed towards her. Despite the feeling of the energy of those wands moving towards her, she is centred and resolute in that meditative position, nothing will disturb her alignment to her centred purpose.
Her power, strength and resilience comes from within, no matter what may be going on around her.
A reminder that the same is true of ourselves.
Our second card for today is the 2 of swords ( swords representative of the air element and of thought and intellect)
Well what can I say, her head's a shed!
She can't see which way she's headed and she isn't sure which way to turn. There may be some challenging decisions to be made, that simply can't be avoided, it's time to weigh up the options and move forward.
Our final card for today is 13 Death and Rebirth,' Into the void' are the words that come to mind with this card today.
The Void is the philosophical concept of nothingness manifested. It is the psychological and spiritual black hole that once stepped into eventually opens into a whole new universe.
At this point in our transformational process we come to a place that can only be called “the Void”. We cannot fully know how the future will manifest differently from what we experienced before 2020, it's organically unfolding as we go. Some aspects just as before, some transformed completely and some aspects as yet unknown.
It's what we might call "a work in progress", the benefit of the void is it's unmanifest opportunity to create "something out of nothing" in simple terms.
Whilst we were on the hamster wheel of pre- pandemic, we may have parked those opportunities in "Some day aisle (I'll)" now we have the chance to step into the unknown and create afresh... think about it being like the first blank page, of a brand new chapter, in a brand book..... we write the script.... it's totally ours to create.
And from the universal comms team, another new song I've never heard before, from Dua Lipa " Levitating"
The line from the lyrics that jumps out at me is:
"I had a premonition that we fell into a rhythm"
I wonder is that the old or new rhythm?
Let's see what our cards share ...
First card out today is 20 Judgement. I get a strong feeling of release with this card today. In religious texts the number 20 represents redemption. Interestingly of course we are in "20 20" Angel number 2020 tells us to be prepared for the changes that are coming our way. ( blimey you're not kidding)
Things will definitely change our life and we might not be happy about it at first. If we learn to trust the universal plan and flow with this spiritual journey, we will see that everything in life has its purpose.
Judgment tells a story of transition, it signifies plans, often those that have been a long in the making, coming to fruition. It suggests that this is a time that is likely to shape the next chapter of our life.
Judgement is ruled by Pluto, who is the great revealer, but often there's a dark night before any rebirth.
Pluto brings purging and releasing buried power or core truths. It's the planet of creative destruction and it's influence can feel like extended ordeals.
Pluto is similar to the energy of Lord Shiva in Hinduism.
Shiva's role is to destroy the universe in order to re-create it. Hindus believe his powers of destruction and recreation are used to destroy the illusions and imperfections of this world, paving the way for beneficial change. According to Hindu belief, this destruction is not arbitrary, but constructive.
We see a turquoise colour in the card, interestingly biblicaly speaking, turquoise means "River of God", and represents, healing, growth, prosperity and a new beginning,
Our second card today is a return of the king of wands( wands representative of the fire element and of action)
He has a mesmerising gaze as he looks out at us from the card today, he has an aura of strength about him.
The salamander on his T-shirt takes my eye today. The salamander brings to focus the power of vision and opportunities. It symbolises transition and the ability to face challenges and flourish in adversity. It promises change and enlightenment.
We see our king standing strong in the middle of the dessert. In the desert we have a wide open space with no distractions, allowing for clarity, revelation and purity.
Because it is such a difficult, threatening terrain, it represents barriers, obstacles and challenges to be overcome.
You might notice that one leg is in front of the dark barrier and one behind, perhaps suggesting that we are still working our way over the hurdles that have presented themselves.
In the background we see a majestic lion. The lion represents personal power, our strength, self-confidence, courage and assertiveness. It also signifies that we are the master of our own domain.
Our final card for today is 9 The Hermit. The number 9 is revered in Hinduism and considered a complete, perfected and divine number because it represents the end of a cycle.
The number nine is also an important number in Old Norse myths, it’s meaning is considered to be a turning point.
The angel number 9 symbolises love, faith, spiritual enlightenment, and spiritual awakening.
The Hermit suggests that we are in a phase of introspection where we are asked to draw our attention inwards and look for answers within. We are asked to take of a period of inner reflection, away from the current demands of the World.
In our card the woman appears to be levitating through the act of meditation. She is rising above the hard rocks of reality below. Again we see a card full of a turquoise colour.
Around her we see rays of light. Light is one of the most universal and fundamental symbols. It is the spiritual and the divine, it is illumination and intelligence. Light is the source of goodness and the ultimate reality, and it accompanies transcendence into the Nirvana, a transcendent state in which there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self, and the subject is released from the effects of karma and the cycle of death and rebirth .
In summary today, It feels as though we are still in the midst of that birthing process I've mentioned in previous storytelling posts, we are progressing though and with a little introspection, patience and inner strength we can make it to a better place.
There's some pretty potent cosmic energy floating around right now, can you feel it?
We have yet another eclipse coming up, this time a lunar eclipse beginning at 4.07
am and ending at 4.45 am on the 5th July ( UK time). The Capricorn full moon will reach it's fullness at 5.44 am here in the UK.
It's the perfect time to delve deep and tap into this magical cosmic energy for self reflection.
With this in mind I've put together a simple tarot /oracle spread for you to use in your personal reflective practice.
Wishing you a magical and illuminating cosmic experience,
Catch a wave.
And from the universal comms team... a great tune of the same title from The Beach Boys
" Catch a wave"
Hmmm... now looking at the lyrics , despite the sunny disposition of the song, it would suggest a little bit of a nudge to be a little circumspect right now.
"They said it wouldn't last too long, they'll eat their words with a fork and spoon".
(Perhaps a reminder that we aren't at the other side of this challenge just yet)
"And watch 'em they'll hit the road and all be surfin' soon"
As restrictions ease even further this weekend, we may be tempted to all hit the road at once, hopefully not facilitating the surfing of a second wave.
"And when they catch a wave they'll be sitting on top of the World"
Maybe pointing out that this is not a leader board we want to be at the top of.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting a downer on things... that's really not my style at all.....I guess this is just a nudge to remain mindful as we venture out.
So on to today's cards.
Our first card today is the king of pentacles ( pentacles representative of the earth element and manifestation)
Ah look at the warmth exuding from this king. He is abundant and at ease in the world 🌎.
He looks completely relaxed and at peace with his life as he reclines into his beanbag seat.
We see the wolf by his side. The Wolf will always help us stand our ground in the face of adversity.
It is a universal symbol of personal power, freedom and autonomy.
The wolf may appear in order to warn us about something we are not able to see coming or in order to help us sharpen our intuition.
When the wolf shows up in our life, we are urged to pay attention to what our gut instinct is telling us.
Perhaps a message here about whilst we may feel at ease and comfortable in the World ( as we emerge out and restrictions are lifted) We should keep in tune with what our intuition is telling us and act in accordance with our own feelings.
Our second card today is the 3 of wands ( wands representative of the fire element and action)
There she is poised and ready to catch the wave.
She's waiting for just the right moment. She's been waiting for this opportunity.
She has everything in place to go for it and yet she is a little hesitant to take the first step emotionally.
Our final card today is the 9 of cups (cups representative of the water element and of feelings and emotions)
Looks like she's hit the jackpot there, jumping for joy with a treasure chest of abundance just behind her.
She recognises the gifts of her recent experience. It has illuminated what truly brings her heartfelt joy.
The card is awash with gold. The colour gold is associated with illumination, love, compassion, courage, passion, magic and wisdom. It's the colour of success, achievement and triumph.
It is associated with higher ideals, wisdom, understanding and enlightenment. It inspires knowledge, spirituality and a deep understanding of the self and the soul.
Gold has balancing and harmonising effect on the body, mind and spirit. It is good for improving our mental attitude and emotional states. It's been called "the master healer".
As I read over the post again, what jumps out at me is the shift in us as a collective perhaps , with regards to a life of striving and material gain to survive and the contrasting gift of this experience of what in life makes truly makes us thrive.
So overall a message of following our instinct, enjoying our freedoms, yet tapping into our own inner guidance system, to make our own choices about how and when we feel is right to go riding any waves !
Have no fear.
And from the universal comms team a song from Blue Oyster Cult "Dont fear the reaper"
I can't remember if we've had this song before to be honest, it popped straight into my head as the cards turned.
Looking at the lyrics I notice the lines...
"All our times have come here but now they're gone.
Seasons don't fear the reaper, nor do the wind, the sun or the rain, we can be like they are"
The seasons don't fear change, they flow with it, trees don't try to hang on to their leaves in autumn, they simply let go, knowing that new growth will surely follow.
A message for us to flow with change rather than try to hang on to the old, or push against the transition to the new perhaps ?
Maybe, we're being urged to simply let go and allow the winds of change to bring in new growth.
Let's see how this shows up in our cards today ...
Our first card today is the 2 of swords ( swords representative of the air element and of thought and intellect)
Blindfolded without a clear vision for the way ahead , her thoughts tug her in every direction, her noisy inner dialogue adding to her confusion, not knowing which direction to take.
Today I'm drawn to the sand falling from her grasp and the phrase
"the sands of time" comes to mind.
The phrase "sands of time" is from a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
It describes the mark that great people leave on history.
Time is like evershifting sand, it is never at a standstill. Yet in those mires of sand, some people leave their mark, and are remembered for their actions and achievements.
Perhaps this poses a question to us, what mark will we leave ?
I'm also drawn to the tattoo on her forearm, the air element symbol with the cross of two flags.... the words "cross keys" drop in...
Crossed keys represent the metaphorical keys of Saint Peter and symbolise the keys of heaven, or the keys of the kingdom of Heaven.
Perhaps we are at a gateway ?
I'm also drawn to the crossroads on the ground behind our subject. Just as though it demonstrates 'X marks the spot', a phrase that means this is the exact location, for the thing that we are looking for can be found exactly here.
Interestingly, it was also a term used historically in the army by firing squads, x being pinned to the heart of those put before the squad. A pretty grim thought to include here, yet metaphorically perhaps it points us to a death of old habits and ways of being in order that a rebirth and resurrection of our lives can emerge.
Our second card seems to follow this storyline as it's 13 Death and rebirth.
Alot jumps out at me today in this card, the starburst and the words that follow " hitch your wagon to a star"
Meaning, always aspire to do great things; Do not set pessimistic goals. (From Ralph Waldo Emerson's essay, "Civilization.")
Suggesting that as a Civilization we focus on the positive possibilities for our collective future, rather than mourn the negative losses of our historical past.
I'm also aware of the scythe today, I've never noticed it in this particular imagery of this major arcana card before.
In ancient times, the scythe was the emblem of the God Saturn, which represented the nature of the cycles of time.
The scythe symbolised not only impermanence, but the nature of the life cycle, this tool of the harvest depicts the necessity of death for the renewal of life.
When I write this I'm referring to this purely from a metaphorical standpoint, in terms of our ways of living and being as humans in relationship with one another and with nature.
I'm of course not making reference to the awful, tragic and painful losses of the pandemic .
If we can see beyond the veil; as yet possibly an inexplicable or concealed place in the future, that we cannot yet conceive or vision ( a little like our woman in the 2 of swords at the beginning of our post)
Then we might be able to imagine what is possible beyond the mysteries of our current state, perhaps we can glimpse a greater existence for ourselves after this unprecidented chapter in our history.
Another song comes to mind here The Belle Stars and " Sign of the times".
I think the title says it all really .
Our final card today is the 4 of wands ( wands representative of the fire element and action)
We see two young women in Festival surroundings. They are dancing and flowing with the energy and the song.
These lyrics come to mind....
"Like a flower bending in the breeze
Bend with me, sway with ease"...
Suggesting once more that we are called to flow rather than push against now.
Yet more song lyrics flow...
Though I know that evening's empire has returned into sand
Vanished from my hand
Left me blindly here to stand but still not sleeping
( a throw back maybe to our first card )
My weariness amazes me, I'm branded on my feet
I have no one to meet
And the ancient empty street's too dead for dreaming....
A reference to our recent isolation and the weariness of the ongoing challenges perhaps?
This card suggests that once we get to the other side of this experience, there will be time of celebration ....
I'm not saying it's showing us a full scale Glastonbury festival in the card, but it is showing us the joy of connection and ease of flow returning.
The woman are still energetically connected to the recent past and so it will take a little more time and space ( social distancing maybe?) to reach the new world..... But it is coming.
Dance to the beat of your own drum.
And a song I've never heard before from the universal comms team
"Drum" by MØ
Looking at the lyrics what jumps out is :
"Have no cares in the world, have no fears, have no money"
A suggestion that no matter what now, don't have worries or fears.
And the line about 'have no money', well that could be literal for individuals, organisations, countries after this global experience.
Or, I don't know about you, but I've found there's not much use for cash going on right now... payments being made online or by tap and go.... so perhaps there's a suggestion here of a cashless society maybe ?
"What we had, was it good, I will always remember"
A letting go of life the way it was before 2020...
"And now we're changing direction, I'll never forget "....
Things being different now maybe.... I was chatting on the phone with a friend last night, we were talking about watching the coverage of Glastonbury on TV from previous years, as a result of not being able to go ahead this year.... there was a pause in our conversation.... both of us wondering when that would actually be possible again.... would it ever ? Would we be saying.... do you remember when we used to have festivals... and as my friend mentioned ' buffets' !
The lyrics continue....
"I wanna elevate
Dance, to the beat of your drum
To the beat of your heart"
Are we shifting into a new energy and way of being now ?
Are we more connected, within ourselves our needs, wants and desires? And with the needs of the collective?
Maybe we've woken up to life a little since being at home, having the foundations of our lives that we maybe took foregranted shift beneath our feet.
A few people I've spoken to have expressed a reluctance to get back on the old hamster wheel, now that they have had a slower pace of life, allowing them to truly reflect on what's important to them and what adds meaning and purpose to their life.
Perhaps they have become aware of their own drum beat , what truly sustains them at a heartfelt level.
So let's see how this links through our cards for today...
First card out is the three of swords (swords representative of the air element and of thought and intellect)
Ahh, her heart is pulled in all directions. The overwhelming pain and confusion in this card is palpable.
The words " I don't want to" drop into my mind.
Linking to the theme of our song this morning, it feels like this woman is feeling the strain of the shifts and changes...
Like a parent who has had quality time with their young children, now having to return to work, or a child going back to school and leaving the safety of being at home.... or the feeling of commitment to needing to return to the 9 to 5 , to get back on the hamster wheel when the heart and head is screaming no !
It feels a challenging card today for sure.
Our second card today is the page of pentacles (pentacles representative of the earth element and manifestation)
Today I see our subject standing firm, in balance and in alignment with her true nature. A bit like she's making a stand ( albeit with gentle grace) it feels as though she is embracing and honouring a new cycle of life. I get the feeling of her honouring her true needs, a beginning of new ways of being. A determination to maintain the balance she has begun to enjoy.
When I think of this in context of the theme threading through our storytelling today, its as though she is resolute that she is going to rise above the inner pain and inner conflict of the past and start on a new venture that protects her new found balance and equilibrium.
This card is suggesting then perhaps, that we look for ways to change the way we lived and worked before.
This could mean a career change, self-sufficiency, flexible or home working.. or much more.... I guess anything that maintains the positive aspects of our experiences recently and negates any old worn out, soul sapping ways of being we may have had pre- January 2020.
Our final card today is the knight of wands ( wands representative of the fire element and action)
Wow, look at her, she's ecstatic, she is most certainly moving to the beat of her own drum. She's on fire with passion, purpose and energy. She is ready to journey on forward with renewed vigour.
Following on from our previous cards it appears she's taken courageous steps to follow her own dreams, her own passions and is now focusing her energy in the direction of pursuing that.
Perhaps this suggests that instead of just hopelessly falling back into old patterns, we can respond to that call to adventure and really go for it now, there's a strong thread here of tapping into our own heart's wisdom and taking action to follow what brings us joy and balance.
I wonder what might this now make possible?

And you might notice we have an extra card today. As I laid them down I noticed that the king of wands was standing behind The Emperor.... more of that to unfold...
The universal comms team came up with the word "Power" and of course the first listed song with this title on YouTube was Little Mix and "Power"... and boy what a song and video of raw power !
Let's see how this shows up in our cards ...
First out today is the 2 of pentacles ( pentacles representative of the earth element and manifestation)
I hear the phrase "The duality of opposites"
Well she doesn't seem to know if she's coming or going, she's trying to get balance and is feeling a little stuck and frustrated.
Passions are running high....with all of that deep sacral orange in the card.
Orange is the colour of creativity and sexuality.
In balance it brings joy, and enthusiasm, promoting a general sense of wellness.
When this Chakra is blocked we experience: guilt, restlessness, confusion and lack desire or pleasure(read pent up frustration).
So what's going on with the pairing of 4 The Emperor and the king of wands (wands representative of the fire element and action)
Well a potent combination following on from the energy of our first card.
They both have a strong presence and power. They both share the Astrological Influence of Aries.
Aries is a passionate, motivated and confident leader who builds community with their relentless determination.
Direct in their approach, they often get frustrated by exhaustive details and unnecessary nuances.
So pop the authoritative structure of The Emperor and the driven entrepreneurial style of the king of wands and together they are a force to be reckoned with.
An alternative view of this might be that as the king of wands came out behind The Emperor, he might be pushing The Emperor, bringing out his desire for power over not empowerment.
Together a potent force to be reckoned with, apart there's a potential for them to go head to head becoming forceful, territorial or tribal in the pursuit of their views and ideas, then a conflict could ensue that would be just like a powder keg of energy ready to go off.
Looking at our third card today 16 The Tower , I'm wondering just how this pent up energy is actually going to manifest itself.
Let's just say there is nothing subtle about this bolt of lightening.
The good news is that
In every chaos there is an order hidden within it.
What we see as a chaos, is actually driven by a very disciplined and dedicated order of things.
"What we need to do is focus on the stuff before us, make our way through this chaos, and that order will sort itself out for us".
- Sapan Saxena
Just when all seemed to be moving onto firmer foundations.... the next shift of our foundations occurs.
Divine intervention kicks in and new enlightenment is revealed.
“Chaos is the backdrop for hidden wonderment and success.” — Jon Kolko
Pretty "Power - full" cards today.... things are about to get even more transformational and interesting perhaps ?
Pack up your troubles.
As soon as I turned the first card this morning, the song started playing in my head from the universal comms team!
"Pack up your troubles" by The Andrew Sisters.
"Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag, and Smile, Smile, Smile" is the full name of a World War I marching song, from 1915 .
It became the stiff-upper-lip anthem of World War One.
It may well have an upbeat feel to the melody, of course in truth of course it was designed to boost morale and galvanise the troops of young men going into the horrors of the trenches.
I've also just realised that today is armed forces day !
Blimey that's a bit of a heavy start to today's storytelling.
Let's see how this one plays out ..
First card out today is the 10 of wands (wands representative of the fire element and action)
Wow some heavy burdens being carried there by the ox.
Thankfully, the ox teaches us how to bear hard burdens, with grace and poise.
It's crescent-shaped horns gives the ox the ability to bridge between two worlds, that of sun and moon, masculine and feminine and that of intuition and reason.
Its appears to have been a long journey to reach this point, tenacity is required to push on through. Also an acknowledgement of what is no longer needed, what no longer serves us and can be shed so that we can lighten the load as we move forward.
Our next card today is the ace of wands, another fire card.
There is a spark of creation in this card. The netting around the head of our subject reminds me of interconnection today, how one idea leads to another... it gives me a feeling of pure potential.
The phrase " from little acorns, great oaks do grow".
There's a feeling of momentum gathering behind this card.
Which is interesting as we move to our final card for today the knight of swords ( swords representative of the air element and of thought and intellect)
It looks as though that energy has transferred from our previous card and now our knight has picked up the idea and is quite literally running with it .
And how focused is he ?
The bird flying above makes me think of a fighter jet today.
Jets are a symbol of power and of being in motion and action.
It reminds us that we need to focus on the direction of our life as well as our adaptability.
Ahead we see a motorbike parked up, by the side of the dirt track.
The motorbike represents speed, a need for speed, taking action, making an effort, to achieve successful outcomes.
Beyond the bike there doesn't appear to be any track ahead, perhaps suggesting that we are forging a whole new, unchartered path into the future.
We can see some storm clouds over head, perhaps suggesting that things will be unsettled in life, for a little while longer, yet the blue skies are still there after any short lived storm has passed.... and up above the clouds the sun continues to shine.
In summary today, perhaps its time we shed those heavy loads we have maybe been carrying.
New ideas of how things could be have begun to germinate and now is the time to take action towards nuturing them into blossom.
With all change inevitably comes a level of uncertainty and possible discomfort (as we step out of our collective comfort zone)
Yet if we remember that we are forging a new path and with that will always come trial and error, its simply informing our collective learning experience as we move forward together.
