So I thought I'd take some time to write a new blog post today. I've had a blissful return to my roots this past weekend teaching Reiki first degree. When I say a return to my roots of course the Reiki principles are a way of being everyday, its never far from my thoughts, but I am aware that I have given much of my time and energy these past few months to my other hat as a trainer in the business World. Of course I've still been working with clients both therapeutically and in coaching, as well as teaching Reiki from time to time, but I haven't , if I'm honest given my full attention to this side of me in the way I have in previous years.
I love teaching Reiki. Each time I do I remember just how rewarding it is, I have been known to say I could do this every day! That said I do enjoy the variety of my work, just last week I was involved in delivering #InspireNewark which was a wonderful day for the local business community, which also raised much need funds for Beaumond House Community Hospice.
Having worked over the weekend I purposely booked in very little for today, just to give myself some time to contemplate. And so, here I am, thinking what shall I write about?
Yesterday was World happiness day, I could write about that.... but I have written about that in previous years....... I could write about Reiki, as It's so current in my awareness from the weekend..... but I've also written about that before too......
So as I sat down just a few short minutes ago I was blank..... call it writers block if you like....... searching for inspiration but nothing came.
So again, I went back to my roots... and pulled some cards to stimulate thought.
Now the thing that jumped out to me was the wise old guy on the middle card otherwise known as Laozi (also Lao-Tzu /ˈlaʊˈdzʌ/ or Lao-Tze, "Old Master") who was an ancient Chinese philosopher and writer. He is known as the reputed author of the Tao Te Ching and the founder of philosophical Taoism, and as a deity in religious Taoism and traditional Chinese religions.
He was also the guy who is quoted with writing the title of this blog.
"If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading".
Hmmm...... now that made me stop and sit up. Especially as he's showing up on the "Life Purpose" card, he's a writer and he's also got the sands of time running in front of him, a big clock behind him, you could be forgiven for translating that as THE TIME IS NOW and TIME IS PRECIOUS or even TIME IS RUNNING OUT.
That coupled with the babies appearing in both of the other two cards ( now I'm way past birthing real babies at 48) I see that as telling me I have a new baby as in a new project to nurture and take care of.
You may also notice that Laozi is writing..... I do have another book bubbling, but since the start of the year I've not made any progress on my initial ideas and discussions with potential contributors. You may also notice the open window... suggesting a open window of opportunity , with the timing being NOW!
There's a pretty strong message I'm being presented with here.... where am I putting my energy?
Have I drifted way off course and need to change direction, if I don't want to find myself miles away from my true purpose... Oh boy, something tells me I'd better take notice.
With Stork showing up as a totem; one of the most ancient and powerful symbols of birth.
Quoted from http://www.linsdomain.com
Stork reflects a connection to emotions and the creation sybology of Water. Stork can help us understand our emotions. It is sacred to the goddess Juno, who oversees home, children and family. It is good luck to have a stork totem. Stork is linked to the mysteries of sacred dance. This dance can awaken primal forces and energies.
Call on stork when you begin a new project, new relationship or new job.
When you see a Stork, ask yourself if you need to go back to basics?
Have you lost touch with your family roots?
Are you taking time of birth the projects within your life?
And what about all that gold showing up? Quoted from http://www.empower-yourself-with-color-psychology.com/color-gold.html
The colour gold is the colour of success, achievement and triumph. Associated with abundance and prosperity.
This colour is linked to masculine energy and the power of the sun.
Optimistic and positive, gold adds richness and warmth to everything with which it is associated - it illuminates and enhances other things around it.
At the uppermost level, this is a colour which is associated with higher ideals, wisdom, understanding and enlightenment. It inspires knowledge, spirituality and a deep understanding of the self and the soul.
You may also notice the Winged heart above the Laozi. Quoted from http://cristinamcallister.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/symbol-spotlight-winged-heart.html
The heart has long been a symbol for the soul, the seat of emotions, our inner selves. It can mean sincerity, truthfulness, charity and mercy. It has also come to represent Love, both romantic and platonic.
Wings represent speed, freedom, elevation, aspiration, divinity and transcendence. They are also associated with mystical and magical beings – fairies, angels, dragons, Pegasus. To the alchemists, wings connoted achievement of a higher state of being. There is also the mythical theme of “earning one’s wings”, an achievement gained through heroic efforts or bravery, valor and service.
Combining these two powerful symbols, the winged heart represents the freedom to love, to feel, to courageously rise above the mundane and reach full potential. It is a sign of joyful optimism and a representation of the free spirit.
It is the symbol of the Sufi religious movement, an Islamic sect dedicated to seeking truth and facilitating understanding among people. They believe that the heart is the link between the body and the soul, hovering between the realms of matter and spirit. The winged heart indicates the heart’s desire to rise toward heaven, borrowing the ancient Egyptian’s association between wings and spiritual transformation and transcendence.
It's a symbol that expresses the desire to uplift and inspire, to fulfill ones potential and live a life of freedom, filled with joy and love.
Some pretty strong messages showing up wouldn't you say?
I wonder how many of you reading this can resonate with some of these messages?
I wonder have you raised your head to look around and find you've drifted of course?
And if so..... where do you need to go back to basics, back to your roots?
What no longer serves you, what can you let go of?
And as I've said many times before, what you focus on grows.... so, I guess I like you perhaps, need to check my trajectory, realign my aims, and readjust me focus.
Until next time,

I know.. the mention of chocolate and you stopped scrolling through posts. I'd be just the same, the mere mention of dark or raw chocolate, in my case and I'm right there. Although if your preference is of the milk variety that's all good too.
My point being is just that.... BEING and the words in the paragraph above RIGHT THERE... or more precisely RIGHT HERE NOW.
So now I've got you're attention....
I wonder ... are you a Dr Who? you know, a time lord... time traveler.... dwelling in the past or the future for the most part of your day, week... month .....LIFE!
Well this might come as a bit of a revelation.... come closer... I have something really important to say. LIFE IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.
Or as the late, great John Lennon wisely said " Life is what's happening whilst we're busy doing other things" or words to that effect.
I wonder, are you deliberating over an important decision. Ruminating , pondering... perhaps? Or maybe you're in procrastination, in avoidance of being present, jumping in an out of your own personal Tardis, sonic screwdriver in hand, never actually reaching the NOW where its all going on. In a constant state of distraction , on a stress inducing treadmill of thoughts and unhelpful habits.
Well let me share something with you.....at the point of making any decision it's always; without exception, made in the moment, in the NOW. Yes, of course you might spend weeks, even months cogitating ,debating, hypothesising, but when it comes down to it ,all choices and decisions are made in the present moment.
How would it be then, if you had more clarity, calmness and presence in the now in order to make those choices?
If you were able to be a conscious decision-maker, able to take decisive action right now?
I'm hazarding a guess , that might just be to your advantage, right?
How about being more mindful?
I'm not talking mind full here... which is the constant state of most people in business, wouldn't you agree?
I'm talking mindfulness...
Mindfulness is both ‘a state of conscious awareness’ and ‘a practice’ that enables you to attain a calm, relaxed, confident and conscious state. These two meanings of the word are commonly used interchangeably. However, what’s important is that mindfulness is something that you do. The value of mindfulness as a movement, as a concept or set of ideas, is discovered through practice.
Mindfulness as a practice is an integrative set of principles and techniques that helps you change the way you think and feel about yourself, your experiences, and the world around you.
In essence, Mindfulness can be summed up, very simply, in the following way, ‘being aware of the present moment without wishing it were different’.
Whilst effective practice has many different aspects that enable individuals to find their own ways of embracing and embodying the benefits, the most fundamental principle of mindful practice is that of ‘The Forever Now’, which expresses the truth that the present moment is the only place where anything ever happens. All experience, decisions and actions take place now.
So....I know what you're thinking ....... what on Earth has this to do with chocolate?
Well why not find out for yourself?
Join us for #inspirenewark our "Inspire Day" where John Armitage will be unveiling the magic mixture of mindfulness and chocolate and experience for yourself the power of mindful leadership.

It's international women's day, so I started the day by sharing the late, great Maya Angelou's poem "Phenomenal woman" on facebook. It's one of my personal favourites, describing the absolute wonder of a woman.... Of women everywhere.
We are quite phenomenal us women to be fair, we as a rule, often wear many hats and juggle lots of job titles.....Business owner , leader, colleague, mother, sister, wife, girlfriend, lover ... (not that the men folk aren't pretty marvelous too of course).
Many of you will know I've done much of my work with women over the years and in the most part I've found there is a difference in the energy between working with men and women.
That said I've often said I'm a supporter of people, regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation or faith. I am a supporter of fairness, in fact its one of my soul felt values.
So after all those years of campaigning for fairness, from the suffragette movement; at the turn of the century, to the ford sewing machinists strike of 1968 in Dagenham.... you'd really expect parity between the sexes would you not?
I'm wondering then, why all the phenomenal women out there in the UK will earn potentially £300,000 less than men over their working life.
According to The Guardian in an article published yesterday:
Figures show a gap of £5,732, or 24%, in average full-time annual salaries between women and men – more than four decades after the Equal Pay Act of 1970 was introduced.
Over a career of 52 years, that gap translates into a lifetime earnings shortfall of £298,064 for female employees, according to the analysis by the recruitment company Robert Half.
I wonder how equal is equal?
Personally I've only once or twice in my working life come across inconsistencies in pay with my male colleagues. But sadly it seems the gap still exists.
So today as we recognise #internationalwomensday I hope we reach a time where we can celebrate the differences and the equality of all of the phenomenal women and men out there. We all deserve to be recognised for our gifts, be they the same, similar or different..... be we women, men or transgender...I think that such recognition of equality would be something to really celebrate don't you ?
And Ladies.... this is for you.....the beautiful words of Maya Angelou...

Many people think that success leads to happiness, but actually it's the other way around. A decade of research in positive psychology and neuroscience has found that happiness is the precursor of success - not the result itself.
Research within businesses has also proven that happiness and optimism actually fuel performance and achievement, giving companies a competitive edge.
Your mind is a powerful tool and with the right development can be programmed; just like a computer, to think and act more positively.
Every moment of every day we're having thoughts, in fact it's estimated that on average we process between 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts a day.
But what are those thoughts feeding you?
Fruit or poison?
Not only that, what about your boss, your colleagues, the culture of your business?
Is that nurturing positivity or conversely breeding negativity and unhappiness?
The London Evening Standard recently ran an article stating that 80% of Londoners are "Unhappy at work". This statistic was the output of a survey undertaken for "The Best You" magazine and revealed that only 17.6 per cent of men and women in the UK's capital were content at work, with many blaming their unhappiness on bad management and bullying.
The survey also found that 20 per cent of women and 25 per cent of men said that they suffered from depression, with the majority of men declining to seek professional help. A very worrying statement when you consider that suicide is the biggest killer of men under 25 in the UK.
Of course fruitful thoughts plant seeds that help us to blossom, positively effecting not only our psychology but also our physiology.
Happy thoughts boost our endorphins, serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin.
Shawn Achor (Harvard Business Review 2011) estimated that intelligence and technical skills contribute only 25% of your job success. The other 75% determining long term job success depends on your ability to positively adapt to the world. He found that:
5 Top tips for business leaders to create happy people, happy workplaces and improve results:
“Watch your thoughts, they become words;
watch your words, they become actions;
watch your actions, they become habits;
watch your habits, they become character;
watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

"A Course in Miracles (also referred to as ACIM or the Course) is a book written and edited by Helen Schucman, with portions transcribed and edited by William Thetford, containing a self-study curriculum to bring about what it calls a "spiritual transformation".
Schucman believed that an "inner voice", which she identified as Jesus, guided her writing.
Throughout the 1980s annual sales of the book steadily increased each year; however the largest growth in sales occurred in 1992 after Marianne Williamson discussed the book on The Oprah Winfrey Show, with more than two million volumes sold "- Source Wikipedia
As the winning of the ticket followed my 48th birthday - yes I know I'm hurtling toward that half century ...It was a very timely gift for a day trip to The Light ... yes that really is the apt name of the venue hosting the event!
(I must at this point say a huge thank you to Melvyn Carlile of MBS festival for the ticket)
So, I find myself in a crowd of other #spiritjunkies awaiting the appearance of this beautiful blonde haired guru. The audience is mixed, but more heavily weighted to women... which does mean that the men do get special attention from the baying crowd a little later.
It turns out that people have traveled from all over the world to be there, pretty impressive effort don't you think? ... I've only had to jump on the fast train from Newark and take a cab ( Due to the fact I thought I'd get a slightly later train having been in London just the previous day... even though the venue really is in walking distance in truth.. I did walk back just in case you're wondering)
Anyway I digress....
To rousing applause Gabby enters the stage, a slip of a thing, she's soft and feminine and has a glow about her, she speaks with a gorgeous American accent, and even from where I'm sitting she has an aura about her that's already likable.
Without much ado, I find myself dancing and gyrating along with a couple of hundred strangers to her opening gambit .... "Sweet home Alabama" Everyone is grooving away as Gabby works the crowd into a frenzy.
As we sing the last few bars of the song, the energy in the room is palpable. We're certainly off to a great start to the day, even for us reserved Brits ( some of whom are glancing furtively around to ensure they're not the only ones making fools of themselves).
Among the audience I notice some familiar faces... the fabulous Jo Westwood and Lucy Sheridan new Hay House authors of #higherselfie, I meet a wonderful woman called Zara who works in banking, a beautiful soul Tony; a stay at home dad who wants to rediscover who he is, apart from dad and house husband who has become lost in parenting.....
....and an unforgettable oriental guy called Toc ( not sure that's how your spell it) who it appears Gabby has seen before. He wants air time and Gabby compassionately and lovingly coaches him to be gentle with his message... he has such passion in his message against human traffickers that his tone is one of a warrior ( he's even dressed a little like one to be fair) It's amazing how generously Gabby handles the situation..... and for sure when Toc speaks gently, his message is far more powerful. He does steal the show at this point with his reference to his own energetic protection technique, that he urges us all to adopt... The Halo condom.. he suggests that we imagine a large condom like a halo above our head and then pull it down over us... reminding us that it is only 99.9 % safe as a protection against the negative energy of others. The whole audience is in fits of loving and supportive laughter at the suggestion.
Gabby sets her intention for the day.... She intends the day to be a two way conversation, making it feel like "It's just you and me" adding we're all the same. At some level we'll get our inner questions answered in the room even if we don't personally pose the question.
It's hard not to warm to Gabby's conversational style, I feel a little like I've dropped in for coffee in a scene from "Sex in the city" and I've got my very own Carrie Bradshaw ...who's found spirituality.
Gabby then asks that we set our own intent for the day, with the suggestion we allow a "Quantum shift" to occur if we're ready and hold a desire for change. All that's needed is the desire. Synchronicity will then step into play, secret doors open, subtle shifts will take place and set us on a whole new path.
I'm pretty happy with my path right now, but I'm always open to universal intervention, so I set my intent to allow divine grace to open up any doors and light any path that is of my highest and most miraculous good.
Gabby then leads us in a meditation and chant to expand the heart centre - Aad Guray Nameh
Speaking the words in advance in her gentle American accent, for us to follow There's something quite beautiful about the chant and the singer Jai Jagdeesh, as the whole audience gets into the rhythm its a beautiful sound... even though I do think I'm probably singing something completely different to the intended words... I have a little inner chuckle that I'm more likely singing about goats or something... I do also feel a fair amount of resistance coming up... my BS filter ( or maybe its just my EGO) kicks in and starts an inner dialogue along the lines of " What on Earth are you wailing about... you could be singing about any old tosh and you wouldn't even know... as could the whole audience..."
I tell my inner BS filter to "do one"... and bring myself back to the beautiful sound being produced by a couple of hundred people who probably don't know the words either... I get another little inner chuckle as I think of my step dad; who when he doesn't know the words to a song add-libs with "Scalla bundy, scalla bundy".. hence we all call him bundy... I have know idea how that all started.
Anyway, I finish the meditation more centred, connected and relaxed... with a warm inner smile, which may have been attributed to the beauty of the connection to the whole room, or perhaps the stand up comedian that showed up on my inner stage. .... either way I do now feel more at one with the World.
Gabby then says something that kind of takes me by surprise. She tells us that she's woken up... just 23 days ago. That although she's written numerous books, been on a spiritual path for the past several years, she realised that she has been chasing a quantum shift for 36 years.
This realisation it seems has caused quite a change in her approach to life. She shares how her inner voice ( what I would call my inner critic ) had back chatted her, just like many of us I guess.... Now she just tells it to "Shut the F*^K up!"
She also reminds us the "You are the dreamer of your dream and your dream isn't real"
Whenever you feel disconnected... just to simply ask "Help me bridge my thoughts back to love" or "Thank you for bridging my thoughts back to love"
Her advice is to choose to live in the happy dream not the nightmare.
We all have what Gabby calls "Universal assignments" that you may call life lessons, or life purpose agreements. Those things that keep showing up , until we show up for it!
Gabby asks us all to consider for a moment what our own universal assignments are.
Members of the audience share their stories , their own universal assignments of:
"Accepting my disability"
"Stop attracting bad men"
" I don't feel worthy of love"
and the old chestnut "I'm not good enough"
This takes us into the juice of the day... the 7 step programme.
The correlation between the 7 step programme and the famous 12 step programme of Alcoholics Anonymous is pertinent here. Gabby eludes to her own historical relationship with alcohol and drugs and that she herself is 10 years in recovery.
With this knowledge it's not surprising that several of the audience members are also in recovery, from varied addictions. As they share their stories, the support from the room is openly celebrated.
For many, Gabby is their role model and guru as a result. It has to be said she is a shinning example of someone who has changed the fault in her stars. ( or maybe that was the bigger plan all along)
So the 7 steps...
Step 1. Recognise the assignment, call it by its name- out it. Ask yourself "What is my universal assignment?"
Then be in the present moment of the now.
We're all prone to what Gabby calls "future tripping" worrying about the future.
Ask yourself " In this moment now am I ok?"
Step 2. Accept that you can't avoid the assignment.
Be prepared to show up for it. It's in your readiness the path will clear.
Show up for the party that is you.
"The wound is the place where the light enters you" ~Rumi
Step 3. Feel it to heal it.
Feel the feeling that lies underneath the assignment.
We move into another mediation/ chant ek ong kar sat gur prasad to open ourselves to our intuition - moving into the feeling, honouring it and letting it go.
Step 4.Call on compassion to clear the path.
Speak your way back compassionately.
Everything that has happened up to today is perfect.
Have a time of devotion every day.
Step 5. Ask the universe for help and rely on a power much greater than you.
Mantra- "Today I choose to be alive, present and free"
Step 6. Take care of your side of the street.
Own your part of the situation.
Clean it up quickly.
Step 7. Welcome healing and expect miracles.
After such a deep and meaningful practice it's time for our cleansed souls to shine bright with a little more dancing....
What else but a little diamond bright type of shinning Courtesy of Rihanna....
After throwing a few shapes we're energised and there's a feeling of lightness filling the room.
Gabby advises us that when you think you've surrendered, surrender some more!
She then goes on to share a very emotional and personal story.. her intent to be pregnant.
How she was putting her life on hold, planning her life around this intent. Month by month went by, every time her visit from mother nature would arrive and she wouldn't be pregnant.
She realised she wasn't living life, just chasing a dream. That her own plan was getting in the way of Gods plan.
And so she surrendered. And then surrendered some more.
Steps to spiritual surrender....
You can't show up with an agenda, show up with grace.
Step 1. Take your hands off the wheel.
"If you want me to be ( fill in the blanks) then use me"
or ask "How would you use me"
The universe will not take from you that you won't give away.
What are you not willing to give away?
This reminds me of something I once heard the Late Dr Wayne Dyer say, "Where would you have me go, what would you have me do, what would you have me say, and to who?" or the shorter version " How may I serve".
Step 2. Turn over time.
FEAR lives in past or future... Be here now, in the miracle moment.
Mantra "The light has come" ... not when some future thing/ wish/ hope has occurred.
Step 3. Giving up on the outcome.
Goals and objectives are all very good, but can interfere with God's ( universe, great spirit whatever works for you) plan.
Of course there's nothing wrong with holding a vision, just give up the plan.
As in Give up the plan.... give it up to God, the universe ... or whatever term you feel comfortable to use.. in other words "Let go and let God"
Don't focus on the plan and outcome, celebrate what you have right now, rather than obsessing with what your think you need.
Forget what you think you need. Surrender to what is for the highest good of all.
The creation of anything requires joy and surrender ( the link to pregnancy isn't lost here as a reflexologist working with couples wanting to be pregnant, the wanting and desperation can be what gets in the way, when joy and surrender is more often the answer)
Gabby then asks the audience to consider where they have experienced spiritual truth or proof of this theory. Several people , myself included pay testimony to this approach.
Her advice is to choose to learn from the teacher of love, not the teacher of fear.
Be complete, whole and in flow.
This faith is powerful stuff. Whatever your own faith ( and I'm not necessarily meaning religion here, although it might be that for you)
Gabby asks us to consider "What does faith allow you to do and be?
And from that answer form a faith statement.
Here's mine: "my faith allows me to be the limitless expression of my true spirit"
Several audience members share their own all of which are truly moving and beautiful.
Gabby leaves us with these words:
"Lean towards joy and you will be led. joy increase your success."
I'm all for that. Who could argue that the World needs a little more joy?

Well here we are we're under starters orders and we're off....... 2016 is underway.
Funny it can feel a bit like being at the starting line as a new year dawns can't it?
Of course moment by moment the start of a year, the middle of a year or the end of a year is only an illusionary line in the sand so to speak.
I don't know about you, but I do actually like the feeling of a new year, it's like a fresh new page on which to make a mark..... even if that is an illusion, if it allows for fresh ideas and a point in time from which to create a vision ( which once intended is already in motion towards manifestation in any case) then it's all good with me.
Each year as many of you will know I make a vision board ( and run a workshop for others too) I love the experience of setting my intent and creating a visual representation of those intents. There's something truly magical in the process.
And what's more, you wouldn't believe how many of the intents set out on my previous vision boards have manifested into reality.... and where they perhaps haven't ,I can see where the universe has conspired to bring me even more juicy experiences.
Now if you've been on one of my visioning workshops, you'll have no doubt seen an intent that's been set in motion for some time now in my Love and Romance area. Well I have some magical news to share with you.... on Christmas day, just in between Christmas dinner and Christmas pud, in front of my family..... my gorgeous man Jon popped the question!
If ever you were in doubt that setting your intent and being in total gratitude in every moment works, then this is it!
I could share lots and lots of magical manifestations over the years, but for me this was the biggy!
For me I prefer to use the term intent rather than goal... of course its all the same thing at the end of the day, but for me intent feels more in flow and in unfoldment, open to divine grace and the latter feels like something you're trying to reach, trying to get to, that's out of your grasp, or a term maybe used in sports and business ( sports is an alien concept to me, however when working with businesses they often respond better to the word goal or objective, and that's fine too, so I just use those words instead)
So what are your intents for this year ?
For this month?
For this week?
Right now and in the last few moments my intent has been totally focussed on writing a blog that might stimulate thought in you, that might reach out of the screen and touch something in you, maybe to share a spark to create magic in this moment and the next and the next .....
Today my intent has been on creating balance, between work, rest and play.
My intent for this week is to ease slowly and lovingly into the year.
My intent for this month is to allow space and fluidity in my diary by leaving gaps and spaces to simply be, ponder and reflect.
My intent for this year is to write my second book, to do only what makes my heart sing and spirit soar, to say no to those things that I don't love. Oh and to set a date of course!
Most of all, to keep perspective. Stay present. Experience as many moments as possible. Yes I'll reflect, yes I'll vision and plan, and I'll spend a whole lot of time being.
I'd love to hear your intents for 2016.
Until next time,
make every moment count,
As a therapist working with energy on a daily basis, I'm always interested to hear of "new" energy healing approaches I haven't come across before. I know what you're thinking, energy is energy right? And I wouldn't necessarily disagree. How we work with energy can however be applied through many different modalities.
So, earlier in the year I was blessed to speak at Melvyn Carlile's MBS event at the NEC, which was absolutely fabulous by the way and if you've never visited one of Mel's events then I'd urge you to get along to them in 2016. They're a truly magical experience.
Whilst there, before speaking, I took the opportunity to have a little mooch around. I met many friends old and new, but there were a couple of people who really caught my attention ( Like I was being given a little nudge to pay attention) One of which was Jerry Sargeant, also known as The Facilitator.
I chatted with Jerry for a short time and found he had a truly fascinating story to tell. Now I've been around the MBS world for many years , and I've heard many fantastical stories over that time I can tell you, but I have to say there was something quite unique about Jerry. So much so, I exchanged a copy of my book for a copy of one of his and went on my way..... I wanted to learn a little more about this pretty tough looking, heavily tattooed former boxer, with a healing heart and soulful eyes, the kind that holds you in a kind of otherworldly strange space, somewhat like I imagine looking into Dynamo's eyes might be (Another who I question ... can he really be of this world?) , slightly unnerving, yet mesmerising .....
On returning home I settled down to read Jerry's book.
This is what it says on the back cover to give you an idea:
"'Into the Light' - Raising the Global Vibration is a channelled exploration of the path to enlightenment and the future of global consciousness offering answers to some of the most fundamental spiritual questions we have today. Jerry will share with you his vision of a new earth and how we can raise the vibration on this planet by re-connecting with the authentic essence of all life.
The passion and inspiration will shine through and your vibration will lift as you unlock a part of you that is full of strength, power, purity and energy. People across the world are experiencing a spiritual shift as part of an evolutionary growth in global consciousness. Now, more than ever people are yearning for the answers such as why am I here? What is the meaning of life and what lies beyond? 'Into the Light' will give the answers you're looking for and so much more; covering past life regression, the make-up of the universe, the key to inner peace, the truth about extra-terrestrials, the afterlife and a first-hand narrative of Jerry's own spiritual awakening. An exciting, interesting and enlightening journey told through the channelled words of the Angel-Gabriel by author Jerry Sargeant."
What is interesting is that the book is written in a very autobiographical way. There is some level of repetition and at times it jumps back and forth, but this isn't a bad thing. It gives the feeling that this is a book that is written from the heart, in the flow of Jerry's thoughts rather than an over edited instruction manual to greater enlightenment. Its a very personal account of spiritual awakening.
Having both spoken to Jerry in person and read his book I know he's not one to shy away from talking about his experiences without trying to censor, hide or sanitise his experiences. He has had both a colourful past and an extraordinary experience of spiritual growth. Even in the MBS world not many ex fighters would speak so candidly about extra terrestrials, past lives and his connection to life in every flower, plant and tree.
There are many beautiful quotes in the book, this one stood out for me as I'm writing this blog:
"I am not on this earth by chance. I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not shrink to a grain of sand" - Og Mandino.
We're all here for a purpose so important, who are we to play it small?
Shortly after finishing his book you can imagine my delight when I received an email from Jerry, saying that I had won a free distance healing session ( I'd entered a prize draw at the show). So I arranged a suitable date to receive my healing. Before the session I spoke with Jerry on the phone, and then followed the simple instructions. I relaxed and just allowed the session to run.
I simply felt light, relaxed and warm. A feeling of nurture and safety.... a feeling of being held in a spiritual type of way. And as Jerry suggested when it was done, it was done and I just knew and got on with my day. Feeling happy and uplifted.
Following the healing Jerry emailed me with his experience:
Your 2,3 and 4 year old self came to me immediately during that healing. There was a disconnect between you and those three versions of your younger self. This was confirmed in your lower abdomen in terms of stuck energy. This has stopped you from fully stepping into your power. You are doing lots of great things and I know you know there is another level. The thing is this next level really a step into the stratosphere.
I re-connected you to these three littler version of you that were lost in another space. You were all so happy after. The stagnant/stuck energy in your lower energy centres dissipated straight away.
You are ready to unleash your greatness now Lisa, a in a major way!
Any emotions that rise, please express them fully. Zero attachment. Allow them and let them go.
I have to say that the whole experience was one of childlike wonder and a feeling of infinite possibilities. Jerry certainly has many clients singing his praises and why not? Jerry is certainly weaving his star magic and doing his bit in raising the global vibration...... and that is much needed in today's ever changing world.
If you'd like to learn more about Jerry's work or learn how to become a star magic practitioner visit:
Until next time,
make every moment count,
Welcome to the Get a Life blog today. You may find yourself here because you wanted to come along and read today's offering. You may find yourself here as you followed the divine wisdom of a Google search , or you may find yourself here completely by accident (there's no such thing by the way)
Whatever your reason.... I urge you to .....
BE HERE NOW.
How are you being today?
You may say that's an unusual question to ask. You might usually ask "How are you doing?", right?
But therein lies the issue.
We're so busy "doing" in our lives, we often forget to BE.
I have some questions for you:
Are you being on purpose?
Let's just consider that a moment, are you purposely being?
I wonder are you a time traveller? Are you a Dr Who?
I'm one, I'll bet you are too.
Take a moment now to consider just how much of your day do you spend thinking about the past? Or worrying about the future?
In fact maybe you've already done it... I mean time travelled during the time you've been reading this blog. Thinking about a conversation you had earlier, what time did you put the washing in, what you over heard in the office, or maybe anticipating the meeting you have later, or what to make for tea, or that one other "Thing" you've just remembered that must be added to your "To do" list.... it could be any number of thoughts that have popped in since you began reading... you've been playing at being a Universal time lord.... you've been Dr Who again.
Well as John Lennon once said " Life is what happens whilst you're busy doing other things" or words to that effect.
Life is happening NOW..... and again NOW..... and again NOW.... moment by moment... Just how many juicy nuggets are we missing?
I wonder, how many of us have taken the same old route to work, maybe driving the same roads, half listening to the same radio station or CD, only to arrive at our destination and not be able to recall getting there?
So, what we're suggesting here is that we're moving through life in a trance much of the time.
Hang on... So let's just check this theory out.... we're either putting in a stint of being Dr Who, universal time lord... or we're in a trance.... so I'm curious... where's life happening in all of this?
It's no wonder we sometimes struggle to fit it all in.
Now I don't know about you, but if this life of ours is our school, or our learning experience, then I guess what I'm deducing here is that half the time we're all playing truant!
Blimey, we're never going to make prefect at this rate ;)
So let me dispel a myth before we really get down to this mindful stuff...
I'm going to begin by saying being mindful doesn't mean you have to be sitting cross legged, in a lotus type position, meditating for hours on end... I'll be honest here, if that were the case, I wouldn't stand a chance. Although if that's your practice, that's fine with me.
Practice. Now there's a word.
Mindfulness is a practice. It takes practice. Continual awareness and practice.
And we all know what practice makes, don't we?
What this means is, where ever you are, whatever you're doing/ being you can be it mindfully.
Let's try it right now...
Breathe, simply breathe. Be aware of the sensation of your body being breathed. Be present with your breath. Feel the rise and fall of your chest as you breathe. Observe the difference in temperature when you breathe in and breathe out.
You can be with your breath for a few minutes.
How is it for you?
Let's try something else...
Be aware of sitting where you're sitting... maybe you're noticing your bottom on the seat beneath you, or a pressure underneath your thighs... just observe what you observe. If emotion comes up simply acknowledge it, no need to follow it, just observe...
Be aware of your body being breathed. The rise and fall of your breath. Now drop into your body, be where you are right now. Drop into your chest/ heart centre, just check in there, observe and acknowledge, no need to follow, simply observe. Now drop into your belly, just check in with your belly, observe and acknowledge, no need to follow, simply be with your belly.
How is it for you?
Now if you're getting into this "Being" maybe you'd like to "Be" with another "Being" ?
You can try this with a friend or your partner perhaps. Sit facing one another and simply breathe, be aware of your body being breathed. Droop into your body, drop into your chest/ heart centre and check in there. Drop into your belly, check in with your belly. Now simply look into the eyes of the other person and smile. Be completely present. If feeling and emotions arise, acknowledge them, no need to follow then or judge them, simply be present with the other person.
Continue this for a few minutes in silence.
What do you notice when you are completely present with the other person?
So how many times in the day do we interact with others?
How much of the time are we completely present, without our own inner dialogue and chatter taking us time travelling ?
For those of you who have read my book, you will recall that I wrote about Namaste, Shalom and Aloha, all of these greetings hold such deep meanings of peace and love, but what of Hello?
Do we really take the time to be completely present with those we greet?
Is it me or is time speeding up?
Ask scientists and they will tell us that time is in fact really speeding up...
How do we slow it down? How can we savour more juicy moments in life ?
Well when I was a small child, time was the slowest ever, a day lasted a week and a year, well surely that was a lifetime when I was 5. Now I'm 47 weeks go by in the blink of an eye, and there's whole years that I find it difficult to account for !
We're all on the conveyor belt of life, as small children at the start of the conveyor belt it seems the checkout is a distant point on the horizon, but I find as a hurtle towards my half century that the conveyor belt seems to have picked up pace and the checkout is whilst still distant, coming closer into view. I'm sure if I could have a word with that checkout operator and ask them how can I slow the conveyor belt down, what would it take for them to take their foot off the pedal......
I'm guessing their answer would be this:
"Be present, where ever you are BE ALL THERE. Savour every moment. Be mindful. Slow down. Do one thing at once, do it slowly and deliberately. Do less, leave space.Spend time each day doing nothing. When you're with another person, be completely present. Eat, walk , cook, write bake, work slowly. Have an attitude of gratitude and park all judgement."
You know its a funny thing, when you are completely present and mindful in the moment, a very interesting thing happens.... time seems to expand!
Wishing you many mindful moments today,
Until next time,
make every moment count.
I was blessed yesterday to attend the Hay House "I can do it" event in London, where I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr Eric Pearl. ( Pictured left alongside myself and the fabulous Sunita Passi, who interviewed Dr Pearl alongside me)
Eric is the man behind "Reconnective Healing" and the author of "The Reconnection" and "Solomon speaks" which he co-authored with Frederick Ponzlov.
Having recently read "The Reconnection" I was intrigued by this new
healing approach (well at least fairly new in the grand scheme of ancient energy healing techniques) , that is completely without technique and ritual that many of us have come to know and practice in other energy healing modalities.
Let's start with a little background:
Eric Pearl had no ordinary entry into the World. His mother described his birth as "Unusual", when she said unusual what that actually meant was she died whilst in labour with Eric.
An experience detailed in "The Reconnection" , of course the fact that she is able to recount the experience tells you that she did in fact live to share her story. The dying in labour; whilst a dramatic story in itself, was not however the "Unusual" part of the experience.
It was the experience that Eric's mother had after death and in between returning to life that was to become perhaps a pertinent point at the start of a journey that would lead Eric to be where he is today.
Throughout childhood Eric did experience what some would call unusual experiences with energy, for example by holding broken watches they would once again start ticking. ( quite the opposite to many energy healers who manage to create havoc with all things digital and electrical, myself included)
In his school years he didn't really fit so well with the traditional teaching methods, not unusual for a teenage boy, he struggled to apply himself until he found something that truly interested him. Which he did later on in his chosen route of study to become a Chiropractor..... and a very successful one at that. Building himself an abundant practice .
But the universe had other plans.....
Eric's World changed overnight. His gift was truly awakened.
As Eric himself says “One day I was a chiropractor and the next day I was something else,” Overnight, Eric had found the ability to connect with energy and work with it to heal people. No ritual, no technique as such, it just happened. For sometime Eric worked with his clients, not really understanding what had changed, but certainly seeing and experiencing miraculous results for his clients.
He worked with the energy to develop what is now known worldwide as Reconnective Healing.
The Hay house event:
Eric is certainly a striking figure as he enters the stage, Think LA, think glitz and glamour. Eric certainly has a a style and theatrical quirkiness about him ( which happens to appeal to me , after all why be ordinary when you can be extraordinary?). I saw that Rachel Elnaugh and Ruqayya Daville of Source TV called Eric "One sexy man ......The Elvis of Healing" in their interview ( the lovely American lady Shauna sitting next to me at the event , tells me that the LA style doesn't always translate well for us Brits)
Eric open's with a moving story of being called to the hospital bedside of a very sick lady by her medical consultant. Her husband sitting alongside her, Eric arrives and she's sleeping, he doesn't wake her but simply commences the healing. Immediately she awakens and starts chatting and laughing, herself and her husband sharing stories. ( silence is not required for Reconnective Healing)
The lady in question asks for ice cream and cheesecake from her favourite store and her husband quickly obliges to go get the desired foods. At which point as soon as he leaves the room, the colour drains from her face, muscle tone diminishes and she says to Eric... I'm going to go now.
Eric of course says " No you're not!" this batting back and forth of conversation carries on just long enough for her husband to return, at which point her colour returns and so does her smile.
Eric leaves to go home. He receives a call the next morning to say that the lady has passed.
But he'd done a healing you may say... that's not how you expected this story to end, right?
The truth of this case was that the lady had up until the healing been in a coma for 3 months, with her husband sitting by her bedside for nearly every hour of the day and night. The lady hadn't just awoken from sleep when the healing commenced. She had awoken from a coma.
The healing had facilitated the opportunity for her to share her last happy memories and goodbyes with her husband.
As Eric says....
"Sometimes healing doesn't come in the way we anticipate. Sometimes it comes in a far more powerful form"
"Healing is about the process not being attached to an outcome or results".
Eric goes on to say " There's no such thing as a physical healing, just by itself, there is healing at all levels, mind, body, spirit, emotions....and more than that Reconnective healing accelerates you onto your life course".
He also carried out a demonstration of a healing, with a woman who had restricted movement in her shoulder, enlisting the help of a woman who had been dragged to the event by her friend and in her own words thought it was all a load of rubbish ( I think the expletive may have been a little stronger to be fair) and for sure the ladies left the stage far more open to to possibilities that Reconnective Healing may give.
I'm impressed and a little surprised at the science included in both the book and the presentation. It seems to add credibility to this healing approach. Eric explaining the links with what science now believes to be true with regard to current understanding of time and space, string theory and the strands of our DNA. All mind blowing and fascinating stuff.
If you're interested , there has been lots of scientific research conducted on Reconnective Healing which can be veiwed on The Reconnection website.
One of the key questions I asked Eric was "What would you have me say, what would you have me share about your work that hasn't already been said?"
And he said, "Share what your felt, what you saw, what the people around you felt and saw".
I hope this blog has given you a flavour of my experience and maybe that of others.
What I can say, is in the quiet of a small room, with just myself, Eric and Sunita, when you are sitting face to face, eye to eye with him .....you can clearly see the genuine emotion and true passion that Eric has for the work that he is doing and his desire to share this healing approach with us all and in doing so raise the consciousness of the people on our planet right now.
It is a vocation, a true calling for Eric.
Maybe you're called too....
Eric will be holding his next Reconnective Healing Training Progammes in London at The Kia Oval from the 16th - 20th October 2015.

I'm sure you've heard the saying "Once in a blue moon" right?
But did you know that there was actually an equation to go with it?
Once in a blue moon =1.16699016 × 10-8 hertz ..... I know what you're thinking, what on Earth does that mean Lisa? ... and I have no idea, all I do know is it's not something that occurs all the time. In fact the last time we had a blue moon in July was 11 years ago!
What were you doing 11 years ago I wonder?
How much has changed in the World; yours and mine?
Of course the phrase "Once in a blue moon" has nothing to do with the actual colour of the moon, although a literal "blue moon" (the moon appearing with a tinge of blue) may occur in certain atmospheric conditions.A blue moon is an additional full moon that appears in a subdivision of a year, either the third of four full moons in a season or, a second full moon in a month of the common calendar. ( Thanks Wikipedia)
So I guess the blue moon equation just shows that its a rare event, in other words it doesn't happen very often. Full moons always signify things coming to fruition to me.......Not only that but we have the point of the year when we traditionally celebrate the first harvest, falling on the 1st of August ( this Saturday).
Seems to me we're at a powerful and pivotal point, wouldn't you say?
We've got a real opportunity to take stock, to reflect ,review and to celebrate the fruits of our labour.
If you were to stop and reflect ; on not only this first harvest of 2015, but also to look back to all that has happened since the last July blue moon 11 years ago, I wonder....
What journey have you traveled?
How far have you come?
What is your bountiful harvest ?
Wow, looking back...... in July 2004 I was planning my escape from the corporate world with a little help from the universe in the form of consultation for redundancy from my leadership role in a well known high street bank. It had been a short lived affair of only 10 months after being head hunted from the Boots group. ( read between the lines... 10 months service = no redundancy settlement).
Despite the lack of redundancy settlement , I remember the feeling of limitless opportunity in starting my first business; the multi award winning Calma Wellness Centre. It wqas a truly joyful and exciting time, full of possibility.
Boy if this blue moon has any of those same influences then BIG OPPORTUNITY and MIGHTY CHANGE is ahead!
I've come on a very long and winding road in these past 11 years.... how about you?
Wow, it's quite mind blowing to consider how far I've come. Yes there have been some amazing highs and there have been some very difficult lows weaved into those past 11 years, but you know what? Even the challenges have been a gift... for they have formed me into the person I am today.
As I consider my harvest right now I feel truly blessed and abundant on so many levels.
I urge you today to consider your past 11 year journey..... to reflect on your harvest and celebrate your blessings.
I couldn't write about the moon without mentioning some of the Astrological energy influences going on right now.....
Not only is there some amazing energy attached to this full moon, we have the astrological influences of several celestial bodies being retrograde. So this is a real time of powerful energy. If you're interested to know more about what this means for you , do take a look at the wise words of my good friend Lisa Gates.
Here's some recent snippets from Lisa's Facebook page:
Saturday 25th July
Venus turns Retrograde until early September making these next few months a time to think about whether your relationships are meaningful and practical for you. Questions to ask yourself are:
Are you both showing your love by helping each other out and supporting each other's routine and work status?
Are you both showing enough affection?
Is one of you trying to take too much control, criticizing or telling the other what to do?
Are either of you expecting perfection?
Sunday 26th July
Uranus joins Venus, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto in Retrograde status. Uranus stays retrograde until Christmas Day when it will turn direct again. Its position in Aries indicates revolt from any repressive situation and beginning again planning your life the way YOU want it to be. Therefore from this day it is the time for thinking about what you should do but not acting upon it until Christmas or after.
Think about if you have enough independence and freedom to do whatever you think is necessary. Have you been seeking approval from people who now have too much control, or influence over you. Maybe you need more freedom connected with finances? Think and ponder over these themes.
So it's time to get composing. Choose your own song. Set the tempo on your own dance floor.
Today I urge you to consider :
If you were to be headlining Glastonbury this year what would be your soundtrack? ( What's your music saying about you)
Who would be dancing alongside you in synch with your rhythm ? ( who would you be loving and who would be loving you)
What's the vibe on your dance floor? ( the beat and tempo of your life)
And who is the DJ? ( Are you a co-creator or are you following someone else's song)
Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.
I wonder, how was your learning experience? I mean when you were back in school?
For me I have fond and not so fond memories of primary school, which for what it's worth I believe shapes you more than middle or upper school ever will.
I was blessed to go to Willowbrook in Keyworth, as the name suggests , there was a brook and willow trees, along with a nature reserve, peacock and peahen, dicks, geese, rabbits, Guinea pigs, gerbils and hamsters to name but a few of the menagerie. I remember nature walks, learning to read and write, how to tell the time, how to take care of creatures of fur and feather and interpretive dance to a BBC radio programme in my knickers and vest!
We had a quite corner, story time, bottles of milk at breaktime and trips to Twycross zoo, Eyam well dressings and saying my evening prayers before putting my chair up on the table and leaving for the day.
I also remember slipping on the freshly polish parquet flooring and breaking both of my front teeth ( still have porcelain crowns to this day), kiss chase which with vampire teeth was never successful, boys putting daddy long legs down my summer dress and my very oddly coloured shoes that my mum thought it would be cool to dye.
I have so many memories of those early school years, that would shape me into the person I am today. My teachers were encouraging and caring and learning was fun.
I then progressed to middle school from the age of 10 til 13. Howarth Cross in Rochdale. Again a wonderful school, strict of course with Mr Kershaw ( dad of Liz and Andy) as our headmaster. It was the teachers that really made the school, many of which I'm still connected to all these years later. What makes it stand out in my memory is the ethos of encouragement and inclusion. A real feeling of building you up, not keeping you down... although I dare say Andrew Dixon would maybe not agree with the frequency of which he got the cane in class ( sorry Andrew, I'm no longer in contact but hoping that things worked our for you in adult life... despite the Benylin bottle at the back of lessons in the library)
But here's the rub.....
I can hardly remember anything from my upper school... some of the people maybe, but nothing of the lessons, the exams, my O levels... not a jot!
Why am I sharing this you might ask?
Well of recent I've had several referrals for young people taking their GCSE's, stressed unhappy, convinced that if they don't get straight A's all the way then they're a failure and work will be elusive for them, let alone the expectation that "EVERYBODY GOES TO UNIVERSITY"
Now I'm not for one moment suggesting that all schools and all youngsters feel this way, but I'm finding myself having more and more conversations on this topic and feeling alarmed by the level of low self confidence, low self esteem and low self worth in so many young people.
The alarming level of self harm.
It's almost impossible to say how many young people are self-harming. This is because very few teenagers tell anyone what's going on, so it's incredibly difficult to keep records or have an accurate idea of scale. It is thought that around 13% of young people may try to hurt themselves on purpose at some point between the ages of 11 and 16, but the actual figure could be much higher. In 2014, figures were published suggesting a 70% increase in 10-14 year olds attending A&E for self-harm related reasons over the preceding 2 years.
I'm wondering what changed?
OK, so I'm heading towards the half century ( blimey did I say that out loud?) And exams have always been stressful for people right? But something has changed. The way our children are learning has changed. The pressures have changed. The way we communicate has changed. The pressures that come with technology/ social media/ the internet has added a whole level of anxiety and peer pressure expectation for our youngsters that we have no precedent for.
In contrast I have many friends who home educate their children. Its a big decision and commitment to home educate and not for all children or all families. Contrary to what may be perceived that doesn't mean that home educated children don't learn, or don't socialise with others, it just means they approach learning in a different way. In fact those youngsters I know who have been home educated appear to be happy, bright, articulate, socially confident and emotionally resilient.
It does make me think that perhaps something in the current approach and system isn't working so well for many children .
Looking back on my school days now; I don't know about you but eventually you forget it all. First you forget everything you learned ( that you don't have use for in every day life) - the dates of wars, logarithms and how to write an essay on Henry the IV part one. You especially forget the stuff you didn't really learn, but memorised the night before to cram for your exams. You forget the names of all but one or two of your favourite teachers. You forget the timetable and which lessons you had to sit where. You forget the spats, the upsets, the humiliations and the end of the world break ups. Then eventually you get on with your adult life and it all fades into the memory bank.... which of course is s selective filing cabinet that gathers dust except for the really meaningful stuff, the stuff that shapes us.... which in truth all comes down to the perception of our memory of the experience.
I can't help but feel its time for change.
Isn't it time we built our young people up? Raised their self esteem and self worth. Helped them to understand how their thoughts effect their experience of life. How to process their emotions positively, healthily and with encouragement.
On many occasions when we've been running our leadership retreat in Get the Edge (our sister or brother... which ever you prefer ....company) participants have often said- I wish my son or daughter could come on this. I've learned so much about myself, they should teach this stuff in schools!
Hold that thought... and watch this space....
"Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious". ~ Stephen Hawking.
As some of you may know I often pop along to BBC Radio Lincolnshire to review the morning papers. I always seek to share up lifting stories from the daily press. My last visit to Scott and Carla ( the shows hosts) was no exception. I found a lovely little piece about looking up to the sky, stargazing uplifting ones heart and spirit. I guess by contemplating the infinity of space we realise how insignificant our troubles truly are in comparison, that we are a mere speck of dust in time in the stars and galaxies above us.
I find the concept mind blowing, just how huge the universe is .... is well simply beyond my comprehension. It would be so easy to believe that we're so tiny that we're somehow not a part of it, but of course that simply isn't true.
Quoted from Physics.org:
We are all made of stardust. It sounds like a line from a poem, but there is some solid science behind this statement too: almost every element on Earth was formed at the heart of a star.
Next time you’re out gazing at stars twinkling in the night sky, spare a thought for the tumultuous reactions they play host to. It’s easy to forget that stars owe their light to the energy released by nuclear fusion reactions at their cores. These are the very same reactions which created chemical elements like carbon or iron - the building blocks which make up the world around us.
We're not separate from the stars we are a part of them!
The ancient civilizations certainly knew this .
Quoted from About.com:
There are clues hidden in the archaeological findings of pre-history that show that the heavens inspired and shaped the beliefs of the earliest civilizations. The first peoples saw that the Moon was linked to the tides and to women’s monthly cycles. Later they observed a belt of fixed stars (constellations), along with five prominent ones (planets) that had their own irregular movements.Gradually, the early sky gazers noticed patterns, and began associating them with events happening around them.
"Astrology is a language. If you understand this language the sky speaks to you". ~ Dane Rudhyar

Astrology is also a powerful tool in business. Did you know the Biggest Corporations use astrology to launch new products or know when to advertise?
J.P. Morgan once famously said that millionaires don’t need astrologers, but billionaires do.
J.P. Morgan thought there was more to the market than timing, and he used astrologers to help guide him in that timing in his businesses and investments.
Its true, astrology can improve your Profits.
Business Astrology gives you an advantage over your rivals because you will know when to be prepared for the challenges ahead or when to maximise the taking of opportunities.
Businesses are seen as entities in themselves in Astrology, and therefore a chart is plotted based on the business incorporation date or the start of trading. Sometimes the owner or directors charts can be analysed in parallel to analyse their key input to a business forecast.
Areas that can be investigated:
Back in Ancient Times all the monarchs were trained in basic astrology and kept court astrologists to tell them what to expect, how best to plan, and who best to work with on mutual goals. Even wars were planned out using astrology!
I don't know about you but if JP Morgan and Einstein were supporters of the magical art of stargazing then I'd be crazy not to want to understand the story of my life written as in the stars.
So I leave you today with some stargazing......I urge you this evening to look up and experience the vastness and limitlessness of the universe......... we may only be here for what may seem like a millisecond in time and space, yet we are a part of something much, much bigger than we can ever understand. We are all connected , you, me and the stars - In our being here we touch each others lives in this wonderfully weaved blanket of sparkling lights that is our galaxy.
The sun is shinning here at Holly House as I type. The snowdrops have made an appearance in the garden and well.... I feel I have a real spring in my step. I wonder... do you have a spring in your step?
I had several reflexology sessions this week with a lovely clients and each an every time I give this treatment, even after all of these years, I'm reminded of just how powerful this ancient healing technique is. If anything is going to give you a spring in your step it's the love and care of honouring our feet, after all they carry us through life
No matter where the variety of my work leads me (and as many of you will know my work is very varied), I am always drawn back to Reflexology. My relationship with this amazing therapy started many years ago, after my own experience of having treatment having suffered both post natal depression after the birth of my daughter 22 years ago and subsequently Myalgic Encephalopathy ( M.E). So miraculous were the results( I was totally cured) I then went on to train as a reflexologist myself.
No wonder then that I have a long term love affair with this amazing healing art.
The Sole as a reflection of the Soul.
Every moment and every event of every man's life on earth plants something in his soul.
Caring and focusing on the feet isn’t new, from ancient times the ritual of foot washing has been carried out in many cultures, all over the world. Giving great love, care and attention to honouring the feet has been a part of life for many centuries.
“To humble oneself by kneeling before another and being in service to his or her body, mind and spirit is a great gift”
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic treatment based on the principle that there are areas and points on the feet, hands, and ears that map via the nervous system to corresponding parts of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas and points it stimulates the movement of energy along the nerve channels, and helps to restore homeostasis (balance) in the whole body. Not only that reflexology works on the mind, body and spirit.
The ancient art of Solestry.
I also practice Solestry, also known as Podomany or Pedomancy is relative to palmistry. It has a long history in Iran, formerly known as Persia, and has also been a popular form of divination in China for centuries.
Reading a person’s feet can show their personality, emotions, health and other issues past and present. Reading the feet is simply an observation of your thought forms manifest on your feet.
It's amazing the feet have told , it's just like reading an autobiography in many case
Why would you read the feet I hear you ask..... For what purpose?
I find that for many clients it can be deeply cathartic, as Solestry can uncover old patterns that no longer serve us and by acknowledging them and releasing them a client can feel lighter and happier, more focused and in balance.
I often combine Reflexology, Solestry and Metamorphic Technique into my treatments, as I find that this is a powerful combination to facilitate transformation and growth.
Metamorphic Technique is a unique approach to transformation and growth.
We all have great potential, but due to limiting beliefs that we hold about ourselves and our lives, we tend to get ourselves stuck in particular patterns that keep us from fully realising that potential. These patterns can show up in various ways - physical or mental illness, emotional problems, limiting attitudes or repeating patterns of response or behaviour.
The Metamorphic Technique offers us a new and fascinating way to look at life and also offers us the possibility of changing it. It is during the 9 months of gestation that the potentials of the human life are established. The use of this technique acts as a catalyst to the client's own life force energy, which can transform any old, negative or unhelpful patterning which was established during our most fundamental formative time - the prenatal period.
The practice of the Metamorphic Technique involves a light touch along the spinal reflex points on feet, hands and head. I tend to work on the feet predominantly. Many of my clients go into a deeply relaxed state whilst receiving this technique.
So, if you're looking to get that spring in your step, a focus on the care and love of your feet is essential.
If you'd like to know more or want to experience a therapy session I'd be delighted to hear from you.
Until next time,
make every moment count.
“If what I say resonates with you, it is merely because we are both branches on the same tree.”
W. B. Yeats
Are you a time traveler? Living your life in the past or the future?
Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.
I had the pleasure of running a team away day alongside some amazing colleagues last week. The development day for the team of 36 including their managers was based around mindfulness in the workplace.
Now it's not so long ago, if you were to mention the word mindfulness in the business World you'd be considered ever so slightly odd and probably written off as a hippy, tree-hugger. Back then mindfulness was something practiced by monks in monasteries and certainly not something to be considered in the arena of serious business, right?
Well.........Times they are a changing.....
Now for me I found "The Shift" came over 10 years ago... as the wonderful Dr Wayne Dyer would describe it.. the shift from the morning of my life when it's all about ambition, to the afternoon of my life , where it's all about meaning.
I'd done the high flying, high pressure, burn-yourself-out corporate career thing and found that I was increasingly less fulfilled, increasingly more stressed and had lost the point... the meaning of what I was doing. I loved making a difference, I loved connecting with people,I wanted to do a good job....... but more and more I found myself pressured into being a corporate clone, doing just as "They" ( whoever they are) said, in the way that "They " said it should be done. It was soul destroying. And in truth that's just what it felt like... inside part of me was dying.
I was reminded of this feeling last week, whilst running the away day. As the day went on I heard more and more of the group saying " I'm a different person at work to outside of work".
Are you a different skeleton, organs, brain, blood.......Do you take off your work body when you walk out of the door at the end of your day?
The roles you play maybe be different... but are you really a different person?
Do you step into a different body at the end of your work day?
Do you zip up your Homebody as you enter the front door?
When we are being incongruent to who we are,I mean to true spirit of who we are.... our body reacts.... it actually tells us "That's not me, that's not like me" and if we keep on keeping on with the presence, the mask... guess what the body says "Enough".
It's not just our physical body, it's our mind and our emotions too. The whole of us is effected.
And if you still believe it to be separate... our Homebody gets effected ( or should I say Infected) too... we taint the whole of our wellbeing by pretending to be something that is not us.
I urge you right now to stop.
Notice your body being breathed.
Be with your breath, notice how your body feels.
Notice how it feels to be in the space where you are right now.
Notice if there is an inner dialogue. Just notice it, no need to follow it.
No need to judge or react.
Just notice your body being breathed.
Ask yourself "Who am I?"
and wait. What comes?
You may find that you have many "Roles", but when you get to the basis of it ....you're YOU, not a work YOU and a home YOU, a whole YOU that just happens to encompass many roles.
When you are mindful…You become keenly aware of yourself and your surroundings, but you simply observe these things as they are. You are aware of your own thoughts and feelings, but you do not react to them in the way that you would if you were on “autopilot”…By not labeling or judging the events and circumstances taking place around you, you are freed from your normal tendency to react to them.
I wonder..... why might it be that large organistations such as Apple, Google, Proctor and Gamble and Astra Zeneca; to name but a few, are investing in mindfulness training for their people?
I'd say that when you can be YOU, be present as YOU ( well lets face it you can't be anyone else as everyone else is already taken) then the WORLD gets the very best of YOU and your experience the very best of the WORLD.
Often when I attend networking events, as is usual on these occasions people ask me what I do, or I am asked to do my "Elevator pitch" My answer is always the same...
I help people to live and work with purpose and passion.
It matters not if I'm in my treatment room, working with a client one to one in a therapy session, or if I'm running a training day in my role withing Get the Edge, or a leadership retreat out in the woods at Hill Holt Wood... or even if I'm writing a blog or speaking at a Mind , Body and Spirit event. No matter if I'm in a corporate environment or supporting a pregnant mum.....
I'm being me. I'm helping that person, that soul, those people be the fullest version of themselves, without exception. I'm facilitating personal discovery.
In my World there is no distinction between business and tree hugging.
It's interesting to observe however that lots of suited and booted business people simply don't get the link.I'm simply not "Corporate" enough for them or I'm a bit "Out there" maybe for them to understand how I can marry "Business and Tree hugging" together (and certainly not in the same sentence). And that's OK.... I have more work to do in communicating that link....
Now I can talk about the science of it, I can use a different set of words, but it all comes down to YOU... the whole YOU, nothing but YOU.
When YOU can be completely present, no matter what role you're playing at any given moment, you will be happier, healthier and more fulfilled.
Its very simple really we're all HUMAN BEINGS not HUMAN DOINGS. When we can truly grasp that and be more us ( as appose to be more dog... sorry couldn't resist, clearly O2's marketing isn't lost on me) Then not only will business reap the rewards, but as will families, and communities.
So which are you?
Well here we are already two weeks into 2015, which for me, means I'm hurtling toward my 47th Birthday next week! Yey! Another birthday, well its far better than the alternative:)
I do however have to say I've been feeling more like 97 these past few days as the dreaded lurgy that I've been tiptoeing around and dodging since way before Christmas decided enough was enough and this dance off was over and to bed I must go ... boo hoo!
So, as I'm now on the mend after my enforced quarantine I thought I'd ease myself back in gently by writing my first blog of 2015. You may have noticed that my blog has been somewhat neglected of late, in fact even I was surprised to see my last entry was in October... blimey how did I let that happen?
Well, I won't make excuses, quite simply..... it has been very busy around here for the past months and that meant something had to give, and it was my writing.
So I asked for some inspiration of what to write for you today and the quote above appeared !
Very apt when you consider this is just the time of year when we set ourselves our big huge crazy goals. And why not... why play it small?
You know the sign of a BIG huge crazy goal is when everyone around you looks at you like you're nuts right?
But it is so true if the little nut never tried to grab a hold of the Earth, with all of it's might...... it would never have the chance to grow into an oak tree.
So , I wonder... what's you BIG, huge, crazy goal for this year?
Does it give you a fire in your belly?
Does it stir your Soul?
Maybe you don't have a goal yet?
Maybe you have just found yourself into the second week of January and it's just the same old, same old?
The new year came, you went back to work, the kids went back to school and well... nothing has changed.
Or has it?
With each and every new breath we take the World has changed. In each and every moment life is anew.
I wonder did you notice?
Maybe, you simply don't have a goal, or a dream or a desire?
As you know I'm all for living life moment by moment ( as that's where the living is going on of course) And you may have heard me say that too much time traveling and life is passing you by.
However, there is nothing wrong with having a focus... because where focus goes energy flows. Whatever you give your attention to, that's what will be getting your focus, your energy and will be manifesting by the bucket load moment by moment.
I would, as the quote above says "Find you fire". Ignite your purpose, moment by moment. Feed the fire not the fears!
What are you excited about in your life right now?
What's truly important?
What matters above all else?
Whatever it is, do that, bring your attention and your energy to it. And then anything could happen!
Blimey, if an acorn can grown into an Oak tree... what else is possible?
Until next time,
Make every moment count!
I wonder.... when you show up in life, just as you did this morning; maybe as you've been going about your day , as you maybe went into your place of work... did you take responsibility for just how you showed up?
I'm not talking about what you were wearing or if you'd combed your hair... although both of these surface appearances are an outside manifestation of what's going on inside...
That's really what I'm getting at here.
It's the inside job I'm talking about, as that's where it all starts.
We have a choice every moment of every day. We have RESPONSIBILITY - as in we have the ability to choose our response..... in every moment, in every interaction with others, in every situation.
I'd like to invite you now to take a moment to check in with your own energy.
Simply stop what you're doing and drop into your body ( yes, I know you were probably time traveling - thinking about the past or future and not being totally present , even though you're reading this blog right?)
So feel how it feels to be you, in your energy, in your body right now.......
Is it high, is it light, do you feel positive and happy?
Or is it low, heavy, negative and unhappy?
Noticing this is the first step to taking responsibility.
If your energy isn't where you want it to be- you can change it, you can take responsibility and do something about it right now.
Here's the thing:
For those of you who subscribe to my newsletter, you will have read about two very inspiring men who I was working alongside earlier this week. Andy McMenemy and Andy Reid. Both of whom choose to take responsibility daily for the energy with which they show up to life and choose a positive mindset. ( I'd urge you to read about it here )
You too can do the same. You choose you can charge yourself up or run your self down. Its all in the way you think, feel and then act.
As you may have heard me say before. Thoughts become things.
You have a thought, you attach and emotion ( energy in motion) to it - Good feelings or bad feelings and then you act accordingly - as in your free flowing behaviour will then demonstrate and play out the energy choices you've made on the inside. Be that an electrical thunderbolt or a dead battery.
Each and every one of us has an awesome power within us. We are all truly limitless, are you choosing to transmit your awesomeness out into the World?
I know I can hear some of you saying... but you don't know about my life Lisa... I have challenges, I feel stuck, I can't, I don't know how.
I do understand , at times life can be exhausting. It does take a huge amount of responsibility to show up with empowering, uplifting and positive energy.
What's the alternative?
What would you rather have?
If you ever doubt the old saying " What the mind conceives, the body can achieve" take a long hard look at my newsletter. I'm certain you'll be inspired.
Know that at the base of it, all of those words that are rambling around your head are simply words until you give them meaning. YOU choose that meaning. You choose if you attach LOVE or FEAR to those words. If you find that there old FEAR word creeping in with all of it's associated emotions, then ask yourself... If I were taking responsibility, If I loved myself enough... what would I change in my thought pattern right now to serve myself a great big helping of LOVE.
If you need a hand, I'll be there, right by your side. Imagine I'm there reminding you to ask " What would love do right now" If your energy is low, get up, move around, by moving our body we change the pattern of the thoughts we're running, look up to the sky ( it really works), take a deep breath. Dance, sing, smile ( if you smile repeatedly you can fool your body into doing it for real and release all of those happy energy hormones around your body) Pick up the phone to someone who really lifts your energy. Hug someone you love.
Wake up that sparkling, brightness!
Don't loose sight of your intention. Check inside your heart to see if the path you are traveling fits with your true hopes and aspirations. If not take action, take control, take responsibility and steer your life back on course.
I felt the need to write for you today, but I wasn't sure what about, so I pulled out my "The answer is simple" oracle cards ( there's a huge clue in the title, don't you just love the synchronicty?) and picked "Step away from the crowd", which is particularly interesting as in the past few days I have had conversations with a couple of my like-minded friends, who like myself, have found themselves feeling the need to retreat a little from the "Crowd" to get back to simplicity, to cut through the "Bu*%$"it and remove the gloss. Now, I must state for the record, this isn't about to become a negative blog or a negative statement, or a criticism of anyone, just an acknowledgement that as human beings we can get caught up in the masses, get swept along with the hype, the propaganda, the spin and the window dressing and forget that life doesn't have to be so very complicated... it can be just simple.
As many of you know I use social media to communicate and connect, I have a smart phone, a computer, I'm not removed from the high tech age that we live in. However, I like some of my friends are feeling a deep need to step away , take time out and just BE.
Turn on the TV, the radio, open a newspaper, pop onto facebook or twitter and we're bombarded with news, opinions, spin and a cacophony of noise. And that news right now isn't the most pleasant sound with which to feed our souls. That's not to say I have no feelings for the harsh realities in our World right now, but by adding to it with sadness, judgement, anger or upset will not add positive energy to myself, anyone around me or in fact to the World. (remember the butterfly effect?)
butterfly effect noun: butterfly effect; plural noun: butterfly effects
I was reminded this morning that there will be a silence at 10pm this evening (UK time) in remembrance of the beginning of the first World war. All of those souls lost their lives to give us a better chance at life. I wonder, are we making the best of that opportunity ? If we can find peace within us, if each and everyone of us can find that quiet space, that communion with our spirit, then perhaps, just maybe, we can truly seize the life that has been afforded us by those that so cruelly were lost in the great war.
It really is up to us, to step away from the crowd, to go within and find our own core truth, our own simplicity. And carrying on with the butterfly reference, and it's symbolism; this is the perfect catalyst for change and transformation.
Whilst on a recent course, myself and some of the delegates took a lunchtime stroll to find some greenery ( in central London) we were wandering around just near Covent Garden when we found Lincoln's Inn Fields. It seemed like lots of others had a similar idea, as many local workers were sitting eating lunch with their colleagues, enjoying some summer sunshine. Now we could have done just the same, we could have followed the crowd, but instead we joined in our small group and hugged the biggest tree we could find. What an uplifting experience, all from a simple act. Bringing blissful harmony and pleasure.
It made me think, perhaps we get so caught up in the hustle and bustle the noise of the crowd that we can't hear our spirit. It's healthy, no sometimes maybe it's essential to step away from the crowd. Time to allow us to check-in with our spirit and to go within. Time away from the crowd gives us the opportunity to reconnect with our spirit, to who we are to what's in tune for us.
Just imagine, if each and everyone could reconnect with their true essence, what might happen to the World we live in?
Just a thought!
Until next time,
make each moment a meaningful and peaceful one,
Did you know that we're just at the point of the first harvest of the year, known as Lughnasadh or Lammas a harvest celebration beginning at sundown on the eve of the 31st of July until sundown on August 1st and derives its name from the Irish God Lugh. In Wales, this time is known simply as Gwl Awst, the August Feast. Lugh is associated with the power of sun and light, and so fires were burned in honor of Him on this day. In addition to his associations with light, Lugh is a God of Skill and Craft, a master of all human skills. On this his feast day, it is particularly appropriate that we celebrate our own abilities and skills.
The word ‘Lammas’ is an Old English word meaning ‘Loaf Mass’ celebrating the first harvesting of crops, the first of three harvest festivals.
Earlier today I read a lovely post on facebook about Lammas /Lughnasadh from one of my most favourite little shops in Glastonbury "Starchild", I've included it below:
"The Earth is moving away slowly from the Sun, giving way to subtle changes in the weather. The ‘big easy’ feeling of the Summer comes to quite an abrupt end although there may be one last push of fertility yet to come. Things that may have been postponed earlier may surface again. It will soon become very evident what kind of fruits you will have to harvest. The winners will be those that can share the bounty of their harvests and consider the needs of others as much as their own. Harvest time is about sharing as well as stocking up your own shelves".
I wonder have you taken the time to consider your harvest? What seeds did you plant way back in the spring and are they blossoming now?
It is a time to ask ourselves: “What are my talents? What are my skills? How do I express my creativity? How do I use my abilities to re-craft my world ... to add beauty .... colour ... richness?
Oh and as I type a little spider has just run across the computer screen in perfect timing !
( Exert from What's-your- sign.com)
"The Spider is an ancient symbol of mystery, power and growth.
We take our first lesson from the ancient symbol of the Spider by contemplating its web.
Just as the Spider weaves a web, so too must we weave our own lives. The Spider symbol meaning here serves as a reminder that our choices construct our lives. When the Spider appears to us, it is a message to be mindful of the choices we are making - and ask ourselves:
Spiders do this by calling our awareness to the amazing construction of their webs. Fully functional, practical, and ingenious in design - Spider webs serve as homes, food storage, egg incubators - seemingly limitless in their functionality.
When we consider this ingenious diversity, we can also consider the web-like construct of our own lives."
How are we designing the most effective life?
Or where have we set seeds to bring us a bountiful harvest?
Is your first harvest a bountiful one? Are there changes you wish to make to ensure your harvest blossoms to its fullest?
This is a perfect time to reflect on the abundance in your life, to celebrate, to give gratitude and to share in that with those around you.
Just as the crops need tending to with loving care, with sun and rain to bring growth, so do we. Are you tending to your life with loving care? Can you take the time to bask in the sun, feel the joy of life and feed your soul ? Are you able to move with the ebb and flow, bend with the breeze and still feel you have a rich harvest?
This is the perfect time ... right now.... as you read this....
Take out some paper and a pen, or even some coloured pencils or crayons and capture all that you have to harvest.
Draw, write , doodle it matters not.... just take the time to review where you're at, what you're grateful for and to take stock of your wonderful bounty.
But what if my crops have failed? I hear you ask...
what a perfect time to choose to recognise what you do have, make changes towards what you'd rather have and celebrate the journey, as it's in the experience that the nuggets of gold are found.
Your harvest may just as importantly be your learnings, your growth, your life experiences...... harvest those, for they are the fabric of life and the golden thread that weaves your path ahead.
Until next time,
make every moment count.
Happy Harvest everyone !
Art Giser was awed by how many people could transform their lives using NLP, and he was awed how people could transform their lives using transformative energy work, intuition development and spiritual development. He began to explore combining these different areas in order to create something that was more powerful than any one system alone. The result is Energetic NLP.
Over the last 25 years, Art has continued to develop Energetic NLP into the wonderful field that it is today.
He has studied with all the developers of NLP. Leslie Cameron-Bandler became his mentor and he was part of her research team that developed Imperative Self Analysis.
He studied with incredible energy practitioners who taught from Western, Indian, Philippine and Brazilian traditions.
He has had the extreme good fortune to receive two “empowerments” directly from the Dalai Lama.
The internationally known Brazilian healer, John of God (known as “the Miracle Man of Brazil”) has been working with Art for 7 years to increase his abilities.
Art is based in San Fransisco and travels regularly to Brazil, London and Paris to teach Energetic NLP, as well as running training programs in the USA.
In this Podcast I talk with Art about his journey into Energetic NLP, what's different about this healing modality, who his own inspirational teachers have been and what's next in his World.
Of you would like to learn more about Art and his upcoming workshops here in the UK you can find out the details and dates on the Solar events website here.
I'll be attending the next level one workshop this month and sharing my experience with you all here on my blog later in July.
Until next time make every moment count,
We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.
Well I'm just off of a Google Hangout ( ooh get me all techy like!) with two very interesting people , Carol Dodsley ( whom I have know for many years now) and Chris Ogle. It was on the back of a brief facebook messaging session where Carol said have your heard of Link 4 growth ? To which I answered, no, never heard of it. Well one thing led to another as my interest was piqued and I finished up ( after some technical hitches- on a Google hangout )
Now having spoken to Chris he's a man with a big vision about - communities , as in every part of the community meeting and networking together to bring growth to their community. We're not simply talking suited and booted cuff linky ( as Brad the Guru Burton would say) but everyone, business people, local charities, unemployed, retired... I mean open to everyone! That's not all, training and forums for all, with little or no cost but your time. A real opportunity to speak and be heard..... Wow! I hear echo's of the "Big society" here.... but you know, for real.
It's an interesting concept. I know that there are some who would throw themselves into such a community whole heartdley, after all Maslow's hierarchy of needs tells us that we all need to belong, in order to feel self esteem and reach self actualization.
Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing.
Therefore this idea is not only genius but fundamental to bringing each and everyone of us fulfillment. Let alone the way it can break down barriers, hate, and misunderstanding.
If we were to go back in time, just a little way, our World; albeit maybe locally to ourselves, was built on a bedrock of community. But modern life has maybe changed that, we're in the technical age, where many of our communities are in a virtual form, which has its positive points, no one need feel isolated. But what of our real communities... you know... the ones right outside our door?
How much to you get involved with your community? Are you caught up in "go getting"... or have your considered "go- giving"? I can hear what you're saying... my life is quiet busy enough, or maybe "What's in it for me"?
But I wonder, what would happen if Chris's idea or something similar were to take flight? How would it change you, me and everyone around us?
What springs to mind for me, especially on today as so many remember the D-Day landings, is all of those who gave us this freedom and yet we still in the main ( not everyone I might add) bumble along bemoaning our lot.
Never underestimate the power of your actions. With one small gesture you can change a person’s life. YOU can make a difference, you can start a ripple.
Not only that, just think of all that juicy wisdom out there, hidden in all of those friends you've yet to meet... all those gorgeous nuggets of gold that are ideas, dreams and desires as yet not met!
Do we have to wait for a crisis to spring into action? Communities generally do... when the proverbial SH*T hits the fan, its amazing to witness what communities are capable of. But why wait til then?
I wonder, what difference can you make, today, right now in your community?
Unity - the state of being united or joined as a whole. The clues right there in the word.
In ancient culture it was the stories shared in communities that supported the growth of each and everyone within it. As some of you know I myself attend a Red Tent ( a gathering of women folk to share in the old ways) and I also volunteer as a women in rural enterprise network leader.... why you may ask? well to share and to make a difference, to serve and be kind.... to belong, to build my self esteem and self worth, to understand and become who I am capable of becoming. To feel fulfillment and connection. And that's all part of being human. Forget the business promotion , the closing of the sale, the doing the deal...don't get me wrong that exchange is necessary for food water and warmth, safety, security and shelter...... and hey if that comes its a lovely gift, a by product if you like, it means I can just do more and more, whilst taking care of others I also take care of myself and those near and dear to me. Everybody wins!
So today I urge you to start a ripple in your community, be the beginning of something amazing.
Wow imagine the possibilities the collaborations, the many stories to be told and heard. And as the saying goes, many hands make light work... We are after all part of the same community family :)
Until next time make every moment count,
Now we all talk to ourselves, it's a natural human trait. I certainly do. But here's the thing.... What does it sound like that inner voice? Is yours kind, loving, supportive... your biggest fan? your cheerleader? OR is yours the kind of inner critic I like to call THE GREMLIN?
Hmmm... good question hey?
Well the best way to tell is to listen to the words yours is using.... Are there words such as... You can, You're good enough, Go for it, I've got your back..... OR can you hear... Don't be stupid, you can't, you're not good enough, who do you think you are? you're going to make a fool of your self.
Let's hazard a guess, if you had to say which shows up more, I'm going to bet it's your inner critic... that nagging little Gremlin... am I right?
In this instance to really want to be proved wrong. However, in my experience we all give way to that inner critic from time to time, that doubting Thomas that stops us really fulfilling our true potential.
This little blog is a subject matter I often talk about in my talks.....I wonder... just how long have you given head space to that little critter? I hope you're charging it a good rent, because I can't think of any other positive reason to give it any head space for so long, can you?
Maybe it's time to give your inner critic the heave -ho .... lets call it an eviction from the big brother house that is your head. It's 3.44pm in the big brother house and the inner critic is being evicted....
How about imagining that little critter as a cartoon character and giving it a name... you can see it now can't you? When you look at it now... well it just looks kinda funny really, that cartoon character with that silly name. Well its time that little fella ( or gal) took a long, long holiday. After all its never had a holiday has it? not for any length of time..... that's a long time to go without having a break in my opinion.... So in truth your doing it a favour... giving it a gift no less... You're so generous after all ! That's it you can see it, bags packed, little passport in hand, waving as it takes its little sabbatical to go aggravate, berate, niggle, doubt and moan to itself to its little hearts content.
As we know, when a key member of the team ( no matter how detrimental they are) is off on a break, we have to get in a replacement, a bit like getting a substitute teacher ( a good one) to cover the class... after all life is one big humongous class room and every day we're on this Earth is a school day. So guess who's coming to cover?
YOUR BIGGEST FAN!
Oh how exciting, your biggest fan is well.... just like a cheerleader, they'll be cheering you on from the sidelines, high fiving you at every opportunity ... I know you're picturing them right now aren't you?
Take a good look at them, maybe they represent someone you admire, or someone you know, or perhaps some super hero... after all they are a part of you and we absolutely know YOU ARE A SUPER HERO!
(Enter soundtrack to Wonder woman or Super man right here)
I wonder how is your life different now that your biggest fan is in residence?
What will you be, do and have now that you no longer have that little gremlin that you used to shack up in your loft space?
Wow... the World's your lobster my friend!
Anything is possible now, 'cause your biggest fan is the teacher and well that's going to make one heck of a difference. Just think of all the CANS.......
No... not that sort of cans..... I mean CANS instead of CAN'TS !
As we know success comes in cans...... not can'ts.
I urge you to take a moment now and consider the language your biggest fan is using. What pictures are you making in your head? Imagine the possibilities, they're limitless... the future is bright the future is ......
Oops in my excitement I got carried away there with word association.. of course other mobile networks are available :)
Although I could talk here about the health benefits of vitamin C... of which there are many... but we'll talk about that in a later blog.....
Seriously, your vision of the future will be so much brighter with your biggest fan in the CEO post.
Life is about to get loved up, miraculous and a whole lot more positive without the neg head, energy drain that was your inner gremlin.
Oh, and if it should try to return... He/ she who shall not be names... like a very undesirable character from Harry Potter... just remind it... YOU'RE ON HOLIDAY! MY BIGGEST FAN HAS EVERYTHING COVERED !!!!!!
And then give yourself a big hug... be sure to keep it going for 20 seconds so all those juicy feel good vibes dance around your body !
Until next time,
Make every moment count,
Over the weekend I was book signing and speaking at the BSSK mind, body and spirit show, during the event i did have a little wander around catching up with friends, one of which was Joylina. I can't recall quite how we got onto the subject, but we discussed the amazing places in the World we have visited or would like to visit. One of the places we discussed was Bhutan, now this is somewhere as yet I've not had the pleasure of visiting, Joylina however has. She said that it's a truly beautiful place that is full of smiling happy people.
I wonder then, what is it that makes the people of Bhutan so happy?
Having done a little research maybe we can find some clues from Secretary-General of the UN Ban Ki-moon.
"Happiness may have different meanings for different people. But we can all agree that it means working to end conflict, poverty and other unfortunate conditions in which so many of our fellow human beings live."
Speaking at the High Level Meeting on "Happiness and Well-Being: Defining a New Economic Paradigm"convened during the sixty-sixth session of the General Assembly the Secretary General Ban Ki-moon stated that the world “needs a new economic paradigm that recognizes the parity between the three pillars of sustainable development. Social, economic and environmental well-being are indivisible. Together they define gross global happiness.” The meeting was convened at an initiative of Bhutan, a country which recognized the supremacy of national happiness over national income since the early 1970s and famously adopted the goal of Gross National Happiness over Gross National Product.
Now, I'd like to ask you, if I may... to imagine a place where the goal of Gross National Happiness was deemed to be more important than Gross National Product. What might it be like to live in such a place?
Imagine a place where the very landscape is considered sacred and development has more to do with the spirit rather than the stock market?
Not possible? a silly pipe dream?
Not so in Bhutan.
As a alluded to earlier in this blog, It's certainly somewhere I have on my list of places to visit!
If you think about it as humans we're all in the pursuit of happiness, everything we do is in truth a means to an end. When you break it down in some way that end shows up as being happiness!
So what stops us from just taking out the middle man, and simply choosing happiness?I understand that there are hardships, challenges, ill health, crisis and disaster....... but surely happiness in any given moment is a choice.
Life is showing up in a series of moments, and in each and every moment we can be responsible for how we feel ( as in we have response - ability).
One thing I've learned is that if you share happiness you'll feel happier. ( as you have to have it to give it away!) Now I'm not saying that when faced with difficult life experiences that its simple or easy to choose happy... but it is available, it is a choice we make. I could give personal experiences here and in some of my talks I have shared personal stories where it took every ounce of my mind , body and spirit to choose "Happy", but I'll simply ask you to consider yourself and your own experiences and see where you could pour a little happiness in :)
Happiness can be in the smallest things, a smile from a stranger, seeing the first flowers of spring, a bright sunny day, a kind word, most certainly in my world - a hug.
So take a moment now- if you will, to imagine what the World would be like if each and every one of us could share that little bit more kindness, smile more often and allow our life to be filled with happy thoughts from moment to moment.
Wow imagine if it were possible to have an international day of happiness every day, everywhere, in every town, village, street, home....you know I think it just might be possible... why not start a ripple right here and now, be the change spread the happiness, it starts with us.
So today I urge you to start that ripple of happiness... start with you, then allow a little to spill out onto those around you, to those you meet today.... and let me know what happens :)
Until next time ,
Make every moment count... and be HAPPY !
"The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of 60 minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is".
C. S. Lewis
I was thinking this morning of just how busy my life has been just recently. The days and weeks have been pretty full, I've been working with my gorgeous man on project planning for Get the Edge (our training and consultancy business)At times in the past couple of weeks I became aware of a feeling of not having enough time to fit everything in. Which of course simply isn't true, we're all give the same amount of time in every 24 hour period, its how we spend that time that counts. And I should know, I train this stuff!
It's amazing what some time away from the desk can do for you, yesterday we took a walk along the lane , what a tonic. Fresh air and being totally present seemed to have the effect of slowing time down.... really it's true, I felt like time had expanded, which indecently is a huge sign that I'd dipped out of being completely present.
I found that I noticed the details of life around me, i became much more in tune with myself and with the World around me. I know better than to get caught up in busy work for busy sake... but hey, I'm human.... I can get caught out just like the next person.
I also know when I'm present, in the moment I can achieve anything in that moment, I become limitless.
All it takes is to be present, to be in the moment, to breathe and be.
When we are present in our experience the World seems sharper somehow, brighter, everything sounds clearer and our awareness is heightened. I wonder then, what causes us to be in trance most of the day?... sleep walking in truth.
We get caught up in our head, in our busy stuff doing busy things and the eternal "To do" list.
So if you're finding that your dreams and goals seem to be on the back burner... way out into the future where you feel you cannot reach them, then maybe its time to stop, take a deep breath, be present and realise you can do anything..... but not everything.
And then just let all of those insignificant tasks just drop away. Which reminds me of a question that's really useful to ask yourself if you start to feel that there's just not enough hours in the day or you feel overwhelmed....
Will this really matter when I'm on my deathbed?
It kind of cuts through the crap doesn't it ?
Things only have meaning, when we give meaning to them!
So take time... it will pass anyway......and simply
Make every moment count!
