The sun is shinning here at Holly House as I type. The snowdrops have made an appearance in the garden and well.... I feel I have a real spring in my step. I wonder... do you have a spring in your step? I had several reflexology sessions this week with a lovely clients and each an every time I give this treatment, even after all of these years, I'm reminded of just how powerful this ancient healing technique is. If anything is going to give you a spring in your step it's the love and care of honouring our feet, after all they carry us through life No matter where the variety of my work leads me (and as many of you will know my work is very varied), I am always drawn back to Reflexology. My relationship with this amazing therapy started many years ago, after my own experience of having treatment having suffered both post natal depression after the birth of my daughter 22 years ago and subsequently Myalgic Encephalopathy ( M.E). So miraculous were the results( I was totally cured) I then went on to train as a reflexologist myself. No wonder then that I have a long term love affair with this amazing healing art. The Sole as a reflection of the Soul. Every moment and every event of every man's life on earth plants something in his soul. ~Thomas Merton Caring and focusing on the feet isn’t new, from ancient times the ritual of foot washing has been carried out in many cultures, all over the world. Giving great love, care and attention to honouring the feet has been a part of life for many centuries. “To humble oneself by kneeling before another and being in service to his or her body, mind and spirit is a great gift” What is Reflexology? Reflexology is a holistic treatment based on the principle that there are areas and points on the feet, hands, and ears that map via the nervous system to corresponding parts of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas and points it stimulates the movement of energy along the nerve channels, and helps to restore homeostasis (balance) in the whole body. Not only that reflexology works on the mind, body and spirit. The ancient art of Solestry. I also practice Solestry, also known as Podomany or Pedomancy is relative to palmistry. It has a long history in Iran, formerly known as Persia, and has also been a popular form of divination in China for centuries. Reading a person’s feet can show their personality, emotions, health and other issues past and present. Reading the feet is simply an observation of your thought forms manifest on your feet. It's amazing the feet have told , it's just like reading an autobiography in many case Why would you read the feet I hear you ask..... For what purpose? I find that for many clients it can be deeply cathartic, as Solestry can uncover old patterns that no longer serve us and by acknowledging them and releasing them a client can feel lighter and happier, more focused and in balance. I often combine Reflexology, Solestry and Metamorphic Technique into my treatments, as I find that this is a powerful combination to facilitate transformation and growth. Metamorphic Technique is a unique approach to transformation and growth. We all have great potential, but due to limiting beliefs that we hold about ourselves and our lives, we tend to get ourselves stuck in particular patterns that keep us from fully realising that potential. These patterns can show up in various ways - physical or mental illness, emotional problems, limiting attitudes or repeating patterns of response or behaviour. The Metamorphic Technique offers us a new and fascinating way to look at life and also offers us the possibility of changing it. It is during the 9 months of gestation that the potentials of the human life are established. The use of this technique acts as a catalyst to the client's own life force energy, which can transform any old, negative or unhelpful patterning which was established during our most fundamental formative time - the prenatal period. The practice of the Metamorphic Technique involves a light touch along the spinal reflex points on feet, hands and head. I tend to work on the feet predominantly. Many of my clients go into a deeply relaxed state whilst receiving this technique. So, if you're looking to get that spring in your step, a focus on the care and love of your feet is essential. If you'd like to know more or want to experience a therapy session I'd be delighted to hear from you. Until next time, make every moment count. Lisa xxx
