Dreams and temptations. Well as is usual a song came straight to mind as I turned over the cards today... Heaven 17's Temptation. https://youtu.be/xWwtMrDX2o8 We've been in a kind of lockdown here in the UK for a week now and Facebook has started to fill up with beach pictures as a thread passes from person to person, an activity to bring a more pleasant feeling to timelines, bringing memories and dreams to mind for the viewer of beautiful vistas, long summer sunshine and distant shores.... And in truth, who wouldn't prefer that scenario to our current situation? It moves us straight into our first card for today, the 3 of wands. Showing a young woman with beautifully painted white markings on her body, which could either represent tribal markings or maybe mendhi. Every culture and region of the world uses henna tattoos in its own unique way. For Hindu weddings, henna is painted on the bride to symbolize joy, beauty, spiritual awakening and offering, while Moroccans often paint doors with henna to bring prosperity and chase away evil. Perhaps then we are seeing both the joy and the counting of our blessings for those of us lucky enough to be safely cacooned in our homes, whilst also guarding against the virus. For those essential workers it could be seen as the protection they need to go about their work in the world right now. She stands looking over the sea, which is coloured pink (of the heart centre) and the stars light the sky above her. Under her right arm she carries a surf board and 3 wands stand around her with flames burning. She appears poised to take action, her desire is burning as she looks out across this far reaching horizon. She is optimistic and ready to take the next step, her left foot is slightly raised , as though about to take an emotional step forward. Underfoot is an orange landscape, her passion is propelling her towards her dreams. In our second card today, the moon, we see a woman under water, dressed in deep blue and turquoise, her intuition is strong. She is looking up towards the light of the moon, her left arm reaching out towards the light. Above the surface two wolves howl at the moon, one black and one white. The moon is large and full, filling the sky. The woman feels caught between the light and the dark. She is caught between the known and the unknown. What is real and what is illusionary. Is she drowning in the uncertainty and illusion, or is she simply floating in the sea of emotions? Which wolf is she paying attention to ? Our current flow of emotion may ebb and flow, we may feel overwhelmed at times and yet our intuition, our inner knowing may give us great faith . The image reminds me of a baby in the womb, cushioned and protected from the world in the water, as it grows and develops ready for birth. Maybe we are in the womb of creation, awaiting birth, yet first we must grow and develop. Just as sounds and feelings in the womb are muted and muffled, we may also feel distant from the world right now, yet the time will come for us to emerge into the sun. ( the next archetype in the major acarna). Our final card for the day is the devil. It depicts a long haired young man with peircing eyes, a bare chest with a tattoo and his left hand reaching out, to us the viewer, he has string wrapped around his index finger (emotions) attached to a small figure, like a puppet of a person wearing a hood and gloves, head in hands. It appears like a Dr in gowns to me today, even showing what looks like a mask over their face. This is the need and desire for liberation, the temptation to break free, being held in your shadow, its uncomfortable and may feel uncompromising right now, yet it is in this place that we can sit with our deepest need for healing and reach transformation. It allows us to go within and illuminate the areas where we can let go and transmute negativity. It can be hard to sit with the restrictions and the limitations, yet there is a gift in embracing and sticking with it. The obvious of course, for all of the reasons that we have been instructed. And also the maybe less obvious, of what we are truly capable of, when we can truly know all aspects of ourselves. And love and accept ourselves for all that we are and all that we can become. #makingadifference #lifeisbeautiful
