We all have them, even me, those days when for no reason whatsoever you just feel grumpy. You can blame being tired, or hormones, or tripping over the cat.... but ultimately its a choice.... yes we just choose "Grumpy" over "Happy". Thinking of Grumpy and Happy remind me of a well know fairtytale "Snow White and the seven dwarfs" and in particular a song from this Disney classic... With a smile and a song Life is just a bright sunny day Your cares fade away And your heart is young With a smile and a song All the world seems to waken anew Rejoicing with you As the song is sung There's no use in grumbling When the raindrops come tumbling Remember, you're the one Who can fill the world with sunshine When you smile and you sing Everything is in tune and it's spring And life flows along With a smile and a song The verse that stands out for me is: "There's no use in grumbling When the raindrops come tumbling Remember, you're the one Who can fill the world with sunshine" Its so true... I have to admit I was sooooo grumpy this morning, in fact I gave myself a good talking to, I know that it's always a choice to be grumpy or happy! Happiness depends upon ourselves. Aristotle It was as a result of thinking to myself what on Earth is there to be grumpy about, there's so much to be happy about that this blog came about. Now I could have carried on with my "Grumpy old bag" head on throughout the whole day, if I had wanted to choose that... wouldn't have made for a great day for me or anyone around me.... so as Snow white so skillfully sang "With a smile and a song, Life is just a bright sunny day"... Well the sun is now up and shining on the inside of me today.... how about you? There is something quite magical I find in being childlike... for me a love of disney films in this instance. I find it hard to be grumpy whilst being a big kid and singing along to Snow white and the seven dwarfs. So whenever I get a grumpy moment, not only do I ask myself some quality questions about just what there is to be grumpy about, but i find play and chlidlike expression shifts me through from Grumpy to Happy in seconds flat! Try it, see how happy you become by singing a kids song, nursery ryhme or by snuggling on the sofa with a good old cartoon! ( I now have visions of adults across the country making a den in their front rooms and watching old disney movies..... and do you know what? That thought makes me smile with blissful happiness) Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. Mohandas Gandhi Have a "Happy" day! Until next time make every moment count, Lisa xx
