Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach When wondering what to write about today I was as; I often do, listening to music on you tube. As one piece of uplifting music ended I flicked onto the You tube page to choose another video. Out of the page jumped the Four seasons by Vivaldi. It reminded me of years gone by, when I had recently moved back to the Vale of Belvoir after many years away in the mill towns of the North west of England. I was instantly transported back to particular morning, there had been a hoarfrost, and the view across the Vale was stunning as I drove along the lanes on my way to work. I recall, just as though I was transported back to that very moment, that Vivaldi's Four seasons was playing as I meandered through the crisp white landscape. I recall thinking how truly blessed I was to live in such a beautiful place, with pheasants, rabbits and birds of prey a common sight. I made a emotional and mental imprint, saving a precious moment for future days, such as today! The combination of such soul stirring music and being surrounded by the beauty of nature truly moved me. So much so, I can actually close my eyes right now, listen to the music and be right there, in that uplifted emotional state. I can actually feel my soul lift and my heart soar. Isn't it amazing how music can have such a profound effect? Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons. You will find it is to the soul what a water bath is to the body. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes Isn't it interesting that a piece of music can transport us mind , body and spirit across all space and time? It's as though our life constantly has a soundtrack playing in the background! For every stage of life, for every precious moment, there's music playing! Have a little think about it, recall right now a significant event in your life... I'll bet there's a piece of music that accompanies it, right? Since ancient times In cultures and faiths from around the World, music is a intergral part of life. It weaves together communities, in praise, in sacred chant,in fun and joy, bringing together groups of people to become friends. I recently watched the amazingly inspirational Gareth Malone, sharing the joy of music in the television series "The choir- sing while you work". What a fantastic idea! Without exception, the workplaces were transformed by the sharing of music, not only for those actually singing, but alsofor those sharing in their absoulte uplifting happiness. Employees and directors alike, side by side, simply ( well not that simply, was pretty advanced harmonies from what I could tell!) sharing a love of music. And it truly stirred their souls and the souls of everyone that heard them. For those of you reading that didn't see the series, I've included a snippet below. "Note" how much fun they're all having ! ( excise the pun there ;)) Music is the universal language of mankind. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Outre-Mer If you're anything like me, music actually moves me to tears, I recall someone once telling me that at the begiining of the stage show "The Lion King" there is a particular bar of music that moves the whole audience to tears... Yes, I cried at that point in the show, I admit it! I actually cry at X factor! ( there I said it out loud) Watch this and tell me it doesnt move you, just a little ...... the beautiful Ella Henderson ( and a Lincolnshire Gal too!) So no matter if you're singing whilst you work, or listening to music as you go about your day, I urge you to allow music to stir your soul today! And consider this... feel free to share here on the comments if you feel so drawn.... What is the theme tune to your life right now? Mine would be: Vaughan Williams - The Lark ascending , a truly uplifting combination of beautiful notes :) Until next time,
Make every moment count! Lisa x

As a classically trained pianist who taught for many years, then became a therapist, music is a source of joy and support! Vivaldi has long been a favourite of mine. We even had a beautiful lilac point Siamese called Vivaldi who was a great asset in my healing work.
