Following on from yesterday's blog, after a night of unspeakable destruction, I am heartened to see that human kindness prevails.
A ripple truly has begun, with #riotcleanup the wonders of Twitter and facebook, have proved that social media can be a force for good. What this world needs is a new kind of army - the army of the kind. ~Cleveland Amory Our Prime Minister has long held a belief that our "Big society" can pull together in our time of need, I'm not certain that this was the catalyst that he was expecting, but for sure the "Big society" has taken the reins. I am moved to sadness by the stories I have heard over the past 72 hours, but filled with joy at the response of ordinary people doing extraordinary things in the name of community, love and kindness. I asked you to start a ripple yesterday, I put out an intent that the word and feeling would spread. I asked that each person pour positive loving, caring kindness into the energetic melting pot. People have done just that. Of course I know the media have to report on the negativity of the situation, but please I ask that the media now flood the airwaves with the positivity in the face of the adversity, that so many communities have faced. The everyday kindness of the back roads more than makes up for the acts of greed in the headlines. ~Charles Kuralt, On the Road With Charles Kuralt Sometimes the actions of those around us shake us to the core, this time it has shook us from a bumbling sleep, It's been a wake up call for us all. Instead of breeding more fear, communities are gathering together in what can only be likened to a wartime camaraderie. ca·ma·ra·de·rie/ˌkäm(ə)ˈrädərē/ Noun: Mutual trust and friendship among people Kindness and love win every time. My heart goes out to those who have lost their homes and their livelyhoods, to the children and the elderly who are unable to sleep peacefully in their beds, but if out of the actions of the last three nights, we can find the gift of kindness, then not all has been lost. Thank you to those helping with the clear up, you have restored my faith in the innate kindness that is within human kind. Until next time... keep the ripple of positivity going, make every moment count, Lisa xxx
