Romancing the stone.
And the song of the same name by Eddie Grant... now who remembers this one ?
The lyrics are a beautiful seamless link to our red rose holding first card of today, the knight of cups.
What a handsome young man in this picture, he sits on a chair on the beach, dressed in Jean's, t-shirt and canvas pumps ( strangely I'm wearing the same lace-ups myself today!)
His left leg is outstretched forward and his right leg is bent underneath. He holds a hat over his left knee. In his right arm he holds an abundance of red roses. On his left arm he has an intricate sleeve tattoo with a heart on his upper arm.
On the beach, to the side of him is a picnic blanket, with a basket containing grapes and wine. A singing bowl sits next to what could be a love letter.
Behind him are faint Ray's of the sun and a horse ( dressed like a circus pony) can be seen, front left leg held up and bent.
He really does wear his heart on his sleeve and will stop at nothing to grasp our attention.
He is the true creative and heartfelt romantic, vulnerable yet putting his love out there regardless.
He has an abundance of love to give. He would sweep us of our feet in a heartbeat. Yet maybe in the true light of day , has unrealistic expectations of the World.
Perhaps he is showing us that as lovely as it may be to be free to fall in love with the outside World once more, it may be an unrealistic expectation right now. (sorry to disappoint)
Our second card today is the 6 of pentacles.
We see a hand above and a hand below, giving and receiving pentacles of different sizes. The infinity symbol weaves in between.
The infinity symbol holds a deep meaning for spirituality, love, beauty, and power. The mysticism of our past and the possibility for an eternal future give the infinity symbol a sense of awe and wonder.
In a world filled with distraction and complications, the infinity symbol represents a sense of simplicity and balance.
It reminds us to be conscious of where we are and the endless possibilities we have before us.
It is used to remind us of balance, focus, harmony, peace, and oneness.
The angel number 6 is associated with the energies and vibrations of selflessness and unconditional love.
The angel number 6 wants us to achieve harmony and balance in our life.
Perhaps it is reminding us of the give and take of our situation. That we have to get to that fulcrum, that tipping point before we move forward. It has to be in universal balance. It suggests that we have an infinite future so there really is no rush.
Our final card for today is The fool . Funnily enough I posted one of the gifs doing the rounds on Facebook today, which you screen shot to pick a major arcana card, numerous people picked the fool!
The macro being reflected in the micro perchance?
You will of heard me speak of my love of this archetype before. The call to adventure, the innocent explorer.
We see a girl leaning back over a cliff edge holding an amethyst point in her outstretched hand.
Amethyst is a natural tranquiliser, it relieves stress and strain, soothes irritability, balances mood swings, dispels anger, rage, fear and anxiety.
It also alleviates sadness and grief, and dissolves negativity.
Amethyst activates spiritual awareness, opens intuition and enhances these abilities.
Her hair is blowing in the breeze and she has her eyes closed as she feels the rays of the sun on her face. She is carefree and confident, completely unaware of her vulnerability.
She is full of potential, optimism and is as though she has just awakened to the world.
A little like the lure of the knight of cups.... the call to adventure into the World on this bright sunny day may be highly seductive right now, yet a little wait in the breeze whilst we daydream and contemplate the next stage of our most, wonderfully magical and epic journey can be beautifully crafted and created in our minds eye now, in readiness for the upcoming expedition into the future.
Crazy days and nights.
So the universal comms team gave me another smile with today's musical accompaniment... the mighty Kiss with " Crazy nights"
I don't even question it now, I just go with what I'm given... no matter how obscure!
The lyrics that jump out...
"That's alright, we're millions strong" ( we're all in this together)
"Sometimes days are so hard to survive, oh yeah"
"You're wound up tight, gotta let off steam"...
All of which seem to relate to our current situation. Yet we're staying strong, as her Majesty herself has said... we'll meet again!
Thankfully, in the main, despite the sunshine, people are staying home, even though it may feel like crazy days and nights right now.
So onto our cards for today.
The 9 of pentacles makes another appearance. Today though I see her focusing on one of the smaller mandalas ( pentacles) counting even the smallest of blessings.
Often in traditional interpretation of the cards, pentacles are likened to coins or money and today the phrase " take care of the penny's and the pounds will look after themselves " comes to mind.
So perhaps a strong message today to focus on one small thing that is a blessing or an abundance to be celebrated and conserved.
Our second card today is the 5 of swords.
We see a man with eyes closed, holding his left hand to his head as though in pain ( possibly emotional turmoil) on his right shoulder sits a crow calling out.
The Crow represents a gathering of people coming together for one purpose. Perhaps a repeat of the first line of the Kiss lyrics.
The ancient addage a family that feeds together stays together is proven with this bird (perhaps a synchronicity with families staying home)
With it's five wing feathers prominently on show in flight the power of 5 comes into it's own. A possible interpretation could be Earth, Wind, Fire, Water and "YOU". 5 also translates to freedom and change.
( there's a theme unfolding... please read on )
The appearance of the crow means a sharing of wisdom, these are messengers and bringers of change, it's dark colours mean it brings messages and clues from this world.
They are able to mimic and with a superior intelligence they are able to survive in the harshest of conditions, cunning and clever.
We see several crows flying in the sky and in the background a man stands on top of a mountain.
There are streaks of red on the ascent to the top of the mountain. Perhaps suggesting that success isn't without sacrifice.
A vertical shaft of light can be seen on the right of the card, the Earth in alignment with the heavens.
Perhaps this is showing us that this is not a sprint to the winning line, that there will need to be sacrifice, (perhaps our own liberty and freedom) that we may take steps forward and then back to reach the alignment to the new world.
Yet these lessons move us ahead, always. That there will be days when we are in acceptance of this and there will be days when we feel the mental and emotional weight upon us, yet staying strong to the cause will ultimately bring us salvation.
Our final card today is The tower.
We see a tree being struck by lightning. A squirrel looks up perhaps shocked and surprised.
His gathering of nuts beside him seem to be disintegrating.
The squirrel’s most famous habit is its tendency to hide nuts “for future use”.
Their propensity to hide acorns is a lesson in being prepared.
Did you know though, that the squirrel only finds around 1 in 10 of the nuts that it hides?
( why does toilet rolls, soap and pasta spring to mind ? )
Some sources even say that most of the oak trees in the wild are the result of the squirrel’s failure to find most of the nuts he hides.
The squirrel challenges us to observe, to see the deeper meaning in all things.
It is much like the acorn it hides it may be small now, but left alone it will become a strong, sturdy oak.
( a little like the message from the 9 of pentacles)
Around the tree trunk we see 4 tan coloured butterflies.
Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection.
Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, and life.
A tan coloured butterfly symbolides a new life or a fresh start.
The Tower gives us sudden and unexpected change, change thrust upon us without warning. It is the lightning strike of enlightenment.
The falling away of the structures that we knew, to make way for a new way of being. Making way to create from a new spark so to speak.
The Tower (16) twins with 7 The Chariot , which brings us one heck of a ride. We can see this as an enlightening and invigorating or out of control. It's all a matter of perspective.
"If I could define enlightenment briefly I would say it is the quiet acceptance of what is."
- Wayne Dyer
So today's theme tune to go with the cards is "Roar" by Katie Perry.
This did bring a smile to my face, as I've had this energy myself this morning, after sharing a lovely video made by a friend.
She was talking about holistic approaches to support people through this time, some folk had some very differing views on all things holistic and were ROARING their response.
I have to say I could feel my own ROAR rising. Then I reminded myself of the four agreements ( a great practice by the way, you can read the book by the same title by Don Miguel Ruiz)
The first agreement is always be impeccable with your word. Say only what you mean and from a place of truth and love. Never use your word against another or yourself.
And the second agreement, never take anything personally. Anything anyone says or does is purely a reflection of their inner world projected out into the outer world.
With this in mind I removed the post from where I had shared it and carried on with my morning. Remembering that it is simply an opportunity to practice the agreements.
Which brings me to our first card for today the 7 of cups.
We see a young man, casually dressed , wearing a cap, he appears indecisive and perplexed.
Behind him is the sea, perhaps an ocean of possibilities. In front of him we see seven upturned singing bowls, a snake and some ladders.
We see what looks like a bat wing , the bat spirit animal is one of the most misunderstood animals because it has always been linked to darkness, death, and the underworld.
It may not look it, but the bat has a very sweet and warm nature. These creatures of the night are cute and cuddly, and they can even symbolize good luck and abundance, yet the young man in the card doesn't seem to be aware of his abundance, instead he is deep in emotion, trying to make a decision.
An illusionary sketch of a castle stands upon the sand. We can also make out a small eye mask. Perhaps asking us to consider where we maybe blinkered or building castles in the sky of our imagination.
Water flows out from a small break in one of the bowls.
Between the bowls we see mist and clouds.
Perhaps it shows us that this I a confusing and emotional journey, without clear answers as to which way to go or when we will move beyond it.
Perhaps we are feeling the ups and downs of the journey, yet we may be failing to see the abundance that we do have.
Maybe its showing us to hold a down to earth, heartfelt assessment of what we are presented with, to look beyond any current illusion or confusion.
Our next card is the king of wands.
We see a strong Male image, he is wearing an orange t shirt, the colour of the sacral chakra.
It’s the chakra that’s closely associated with emotional responses and often described as the seat of emotions, or gut instinct. It is also the seat of passion, creativity and zest for life when energy is flowing freely.
Conversly this chakra is said to be blocked by fear, especially the fear of death.
We see that his t shirt has a lizard or salamander motif.
Just like the lizard spirit animal, salamanders re-grow their limbs and tail. This represents that rebirth and regeneration they bring into our life.
The salamander guides us to use our internal resources to spur our own growth and development. It represents rebirth and regeneration being bought into our life.
In the picture we see a lion. It's truly no surprise to know that the meaning of the lion is strength.
The lion symbolism also emphasises personal power – our strength, self-confidence, courage, and assertiveness.
We see that his crown, bearing flames, sits atop of his wand. And we can just see a tattoo on his arm, also depicting a lion, reminding me of the emblem of Richard the Lionheart.
The lion emblem in this context denotes heraldry. It traditionally symbolises courage, nobility, royalty, strength, stateliness and valour, because historically it has been regarded as the "king of beasts".
I think we've got the measure of the energy of strength and power that emanates from this fiery dude!
He's a big picture kinda guy, a creative visionary, a natural born leader.
Perhaps he's encouraging us to stand strong together, hold our nerve, as we navigate towards a much bigger picture of the future.
Our final card for today, sees a quick return of yesterday's 7 of swords. The crow seems to be crying even louder today!
Crow asks us not to fear change. All of us have shadows in our lives that need purging. That deep transformation isn’t easy, so Crow steps in to support our effort with greater insights. When we need that “higher perspective”
Crow asks us to speak our truth without fear. Crow also inspires tenacity. Whatever the wall or barrier, we will eventually figure out a way to get around it.
Another important element to Crow is its voice. This bird uses its voice to warn other members of it's tribe, even those far away. In this sense, Crow gives us the gift of watchfulness and the ability to protect those we love as a result.
A timely repetition of yesterday's message to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.
Strangely, my hubby spotted a sparrowhawk in our garden just before I sat down to do today's storytelling.
Sparrowhawk - Awareness that opportunities that seem small on the surface have the potential for great growth and expansion over time.
The sparrowhawk helps us to see through to the heart of events and synchronicities that are trying to lead us to our greater goals and higher good.
So often we ignore the smaller things in life because we can't see how they could possibly be of much use to us or help us to resolve a problem. Yet when we soar high above to see where they fit in the larger scheme of things, we see how they are a jumping off point that if it were not presented to us and pursued, we could not reach that we are truly seeking.
How interesting that sparrowhawk should show up at this time, it seems very relevant to our experience right now and perhaps how we may look at this from a bigger perspective.
It was also followed by seeing a hare run across the field ( such an abundance of nature around us )
The spiritual meaning of the Hare comes from the dawn of time, the Dawn, the East and new beginnings.
The hare symbolises fertility, when the hare appears spring is close. The hare represents Eostre, Ostara, Cupid and also Aphrodite'.
The hare is the symbol for Eostre and with Eostre comes the light and fertile winds of springtime, these winds blow in from the East and bring change, harmony, love, fercundity meaning eternal quality power.
The symbolism of the hare is one of protective influence, as an animal guide it brings solitude and focus.
Maybe this is a sign that staying home in solitude allows us to gain focus and clarity to a new way forward for our life?
Hare encourages us to celebrate the new dawn, the new day and fresh opportunity.
Which reminds me of a perfect song to accompany the message... "feeling good " by Nina Simone.
I love how the signs and symbols can give us so many teachings, if only we are aware.
So onto today's cards....
As I turned them over a somewhat random song came to mind....
"Ride on time" by black box.
I wondered how this related at all... so I took a look at the lyrics and it all made sense.
The lines that jumped out at me were :
"And time won't take
My love away"
Suggesting perhaps that even though we may be apart for a time from one another, the love remains strong.
And then the next line that stood out was :
"You're such a, you're such a hot temptation"
Which bought my attention to what we've been hearing on the TV and the radio... that the sun will be out this weekend, with tomorrow, Sunday being the hottest day of the year so far. The temptation to step out into the world and flout the instruction to stay home may be huge... yet as the lyrics go on to say : "Just don't move".
It's amazing how the universal comms team make sure their message is heard !
Our first card today is the 9 of pentacles.
Let's start with the numerology...
9 is wisdom and responsibility, and the ultimate goal of the number 9 is to serve humanity. ...
Number 9 learns selflessness and compassion. People with the 9 energy work without motive and their purpose is for the greatest good of all.
They have a protective energy and they have great power and love in their soul.
Another nod to keeping the instruction of stay at home , protect the NHS , save lives right there hey ?
So let's take s deeper look at the 9 if pentacles.
We see a smiling young woman, dressed in white , reaching up with her left arm to hold steady a mandala ( pentacle) on top of which balances a bird wings outstretched.
Drying herbs hang down along with different coloured and sized mandalas ( pentacles)
A coldron containing a large green mandala ( pentacle) sits in the background , again surrounded by herbs.
Sage and basil jump out at me.
Burning sage — also known as smudging — is an ancient spiritual ritual.
The most-used types of sage have antimicrobial properties. This means they keep infectious bacteria, viruses, and fungi at bay.
Smudging has long been used to connect to the spiritual realm or enhance intuition.
For healers and laypeople in traditional cultures, burning sage is used to achieve a healing state — or to solve or reflect upon spiritual dilemmas.
This may have some scientific basis, too. Certain types of sage, including salvia sages and white prairie sage, contain thujone.
Research shows that thujone is mildly psychoactive. It’s actually found in many plants used in cultural spiritual rituals to enhance intuition.
Smudging may also be used as a ritual tool to rid yourself — or your space — of negativity. This includes past traumas, bad experiences, or negative energies from others.
This may help you establish a positive environment for meditation or another ritual. Choosing to sit and let go of negative thoughts in a ritual like this sets your intention and dedication to self-improvement.
Choosing to engage in ritual can be the beginning of your change in mindset.
Basil is also known as St. Joseph’s Wort.
St. Joseph signifys a way or path of life, that is guided through, faith, hope and charity.
Perhaps a reminder to us to keep positive, keep hope alive and support one another.
The card suggests a realisation of the abundance around us. Much to be thankful and grateful for.
Our second card today is the 7 of swords.
In numerology 7's are secretive, mysterious, stand-offish, intuitive and introspective. An unworldly attitude means most 7's need to be 'protected'. The 7 vibration represents rest, contemplation, spirituality, sensitivity, sympathy and mastery. 7 is a number of the 'mind'.
The card shows a figure appearing to be up to no good , carrying a knife in the light of the moon
Around him are crows calling out. In the background are the silhouettes of city buildings. The landscape looks cold, with snow underfoot.
With any card, there are no good or bad cards, they are neutral. It is purely the perception of the viewer in the context of the unfolding story.
In our story today, it feels as though this is a reminder, to take only what is needed. To be selfless rather than selfish.
Perhaps we are being asked to keep the highest of vibration, the best of intentions and not be drawn into conspiracy, illusions and deceptions.
Our final card for today is the 10 of pentacles.
We see a happy family gathering, a playful and merry scene. Patterns hang down and bright pentacles are around the picture. A large mandala ( pentacle) sits in the centre, with the tree of life depicted.
The Tree of life is considered to be a map of the universe and the psyche, the order of the creation of the cosmos, and a path to spiritual illumination.
The card shows us a sense of community, abundance and the legacy we pass from generation to generation.
Perhaps a repeating message that out of this challenging time we will emerge more abundant in our sense of community, family and be creating a more compassionate, caring and kind world to pass onto future generations.
Wow , now that was a long one today!
"Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success, and love; it will all come back to you in abundance. This is the law of nature". -Steve Maraboli.
"When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears".
Well the universal comms team dug deep with today's song ! From way back in the recesses of my mind they pulled a classic "Run for home" by Lindisfarne . I'm not certain which part is more poignant, the title ... run for home.... or the groups name ... Lindisfarne.
The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, commonly known as Holy Island is a tidal island off the northeast coast of England.
Possibly the holiest site of Anglo-Saxon England, Lindisfarne was founded by St. Aidan, (one of two patron saints of firefighters) an Irish monk.
A little later in time Saint Cuthbert; a 6th-century hermit, became the bishop of Lindisfarne. He was known as performer of healing miracles.
Maybe we need to enlist the help of old Cuthbert today.
So with a seamless link ( you couldn't make it up) our first card for today is The Hierophant ( The high priest).
We see a laughing man, sitting at the bottom of a steep staircase. He is casually dressed in a grey t shirt ( stuckness) and cropped sweat pants. His long hair falls down onto his right shoulder. His head is surrounded by many symbols from religions and Faiths across time.
The stairs rise up behind him to a bright point of light in the heavens.a backdrop awash with hues of pink .
A beautiful mandala surrounds the top of the card, where the staircase appears to continue infinitum.
Perhaps we are shown the many beliefs that we hold, those that we were once stuck in and those that we are now being enlightened to.
Maybe we are learning to live within a new structure, a new paradigm, a new way of being and experiencing life.
There is great opportunity for enlightenment shown in this card. And although the journey is a steep one, it is a bright future .
Our second card today is the knight of swords.
Depicting a young man, wearing a hoodie, shorts and trainers . He wears a watch on his right wrist, perhaps he feels under pressure of time.
He has a cross bow slung over his back and he is running and making haste towards an unattended motorbike.
The skies are heavy with grey clouds and a large bird flies overhead. He has determination in his stride. He rushes towards the motorbike ready to zoom off into the distance.
He is determined to achieve his goal. He is focused like the arrow he carries on his back.
Perhaps we are being asked to stay focused on a successful road through. Keep our energy high and our trajectory strong. Maybe this is our home run?
The birds eye view keeping us focused on the bigger picture, so as not to get pulled down into the minutia.
Our final card today is the 3 of pentacles.
We see three people creating a tapestry together, all with a part to play and a contribution to make.
The three pentacles remind me of a traffic light system, and the words " ready, set, go" come to mind.
The angel number 3 has the energy of kindness, joy, creativity, and imagination. It represents inspiration, creation, manifestation, and growth. It symbolizes the interconnectedness of your body, mind, and spirit, and is carefully aligned with the divine energy.
The number three stands out as one of the most prominent numbers featured in Scripture. It tends to symbolise harmony and wholeness, as we will explore.
If we explore the meaning in the Hebrew we see that it has a deeper meaning.
Three, shelosh[f.], sheloshah [m.] means harmony, new life, and completeness.
In numerology the number 3 resonates with the energies of optimism and joy, inspiration and creativity, speech and communication, good taste, imagination and intelligence, sociability and society, friendliness, kindness and compassion.
So perhaps we are being presented with a shift to a greater connection, a more harmonious community.
A kinder and more compassionate World.
“Ask yourself: Have you been kind today? Make kindness your modus operandi and change your world. ”- Annie Lennox
And as for the song ... run for home...
I'll leave you with this quote ( author unknown)
“Home is where our story begins…”
Awakening the heart.
I actually smiled to myself with this morning's song that came with the cards.
It is the classic from my hero David Bowie , Starman. https://youtu.be/tRcPA7Fzebw
For a moment I thought, oh blimey I cant include that, readers will think I'm going to talk about alien visitations .... I'm not by the way.... well I dont think so as I type as I storytell.
The very next cosmic fax ( see what I did there ? ;) ) was the song Star trekking, by The firm .... honestly you couldn't make it up !
I think the universal comms team are having a bit of a laugh with me today. ( well I am wearing flamingos, what can I tell you).
So onto our first card of the day , the ace of cups. We see a woman, wearing a blue vest top, holding a bowl (cup) with both of her palms facing one another , in the centre of which is a heart. She holds it in front of her chest in the area of the heart chakra and a rainbow of colours swirls around it and rays of light emanate from its centre. Water overflows to the bottom rim of the cup.
Behind her it is dark, in front of her it is full of this rainbow of light.
Her cup is full to overflowing with the energy of unconditional love, it is as though her heart has fully awakened and she can communicate this out into the world.
Perhaps we are moving beyond the dark into the light, with more compassion, connection, love and an awakening to what we truly love and care for.
Our next card today is the 7 of wands. We see a woman sitting on a large cushion, partly in the lotus pose.
The Lotus Pose is a frequent pose for meditation and pranayama, or breathing exercises. Breath is the purifying power in the human body; deep, slow breathing purifies and energizes our bodies.
Read more of the significance here :https://usa.inquirer.net/…/padmasana-benefits-the-lotus-pos…
Her hands are in the prayer position, as would accompany the greeting Namaste.
One translation of Namaste would be :
"My soul honours your soul. I honour the place in you where the entire Universe resides. I honour the light, love, truth, beauty and peace within you, because it is also within me. In sharing these things we are united, we are the same, we are one."
We saw Prince Charles adopting this heartfelt greeting to replace handshaking more recently.
Her head faces over her right shoulder perhaps considering a physical, practical and financial burdens, or maybe she is contemplating the past.
A sun shines over her solar plexus chakra.
The solar plexus chakra helps grow our confidence and vitality. This empowers us to follow our true path and create the life we want.
When balanced, the solar plexus chakra allows us to seize our personal power, develop our authentic self, and take responsibility for our life.
Behind her is a dream like scene of pink and orange colours, she is in a bubble of loving energy.
Below her we see seven brightly coloured sticks, pointing at her, yet she disregards them.
She is centred and grounded, whilst the outside world may seek to challenge her, still she shines.
Perhaps we are being asked to sit steady in the eye of the storm, to shine regardless. To shine our individual light out into the world no matter what others may say. After all when we shine, we give others permission to shine too.
Our final card for today is the star 17 in the major arcana, which couples with the 8th card of strength.
We see a young woman dressed in a beautiful multicoloured dress, sitting on the ground. She holds a illuminated thread or string, as though holding onto a kite, yet when we follow the thread we see it connects to the brightest star in our galaxy, the sun.
Above her we see the whole of the galaxy, it could even appear as a space ship ( oops, I said I wouldn't mention that... too late !) I wonder what our galactic neighbours would say about our World right now? ... sorry I digress... just a fleeting thought.
Perhaps this card is signifying being a part of something much bigger than just ourselves. The colours of the violet sky is awash with stars.
Violet governs the crown chakra, at the top of the head. ( funnily enough "corona" means crown)
Violet offers and inner sense of wholeness. With wholeness comes a sense of ending, completion of a process, and a promise of something new, illumination, rebirth.
This seems to be a repeating theme.
"Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious".
- Stephen Hawking
Planting the seeds of loving intent.
The song that came in with these cards today is "Sewing the seeds of love" by Tears for fears.
The opening scene of the video shows a face carved into rock with shutters opening , as if opening the mind, which seems apt to today's storytelling.
In our first card today, Justice 11 in the major acarna, we see a woman, with her eyes closed, smiling, holding what looks like a double handled sword balancing two copper pots, as in weighing scales, one side decorated with white and the other with black. Around her head is a light sky with wisps of clouds.
We can see a reflection of her that looks almost like a different person, eyes open, with a pensive look upon her face, she is surrounded by the deep earth.
This card is all about learning from our experiences, the good the bad and the ugly to coin a phrase.
It's the balancing of all of life. It represents truth, integrity and fairness. It allows us to observe cause and effect objectively.
In truth, we know life isn't always so clear cut, as simply as good versus bad, or right versus wrong. There may be many perceptions in between.
If we can perhaps move to a place of compassion and love for ourselves and others and be less quick to pass judgement we can create a more harmonious journey ahead.
In our second card the ace of pentacles, we see two hands cupping a disc, decorated with a mandala in hues of gold representing community and groups, along with a turquoise pentacle at the centre.
We can see roots sprouting from the bottom of the disc and new shoots beginning to break through at the top.
The suit of pentacles is the final suit in the minor arcana, the swords being thought and air, the thought is then followed with emotion, which is the suit of cups and the element of water, we then move to the suit of wands, with their fiery action, until we reach the earthy pentacles where we manifest into reality those lofty thoughts and ideas, through our emotional connection and subsequent actions into tangible reality.
It's as though we have the balance of the whole world in our hands right now. We hold the keys to our future existence and experience of life.
The pentacles, sometimes known as discs or coins, are often translated as money, yet in our card today we see the pentacle surrounded by the turquoise of spiritual growth and change.
Just perhaps we are changing our societal views and values of what is truly important?
Perhaps we are putting more emphasis on relationships, time and community in what we want to manifest ?
Perhaps we are setting new seeds for the future in terms of what has true worth?
In our final card today, the ace of swords, we see a woman eyes closed, deep in thought.
Her mind is depicted as a spiral staircase, likened to the Fibonacci sequence.
The Fibonacci sequence represents a new paradigm in predicting spiritual experience.
With a shaft of light through its centre of the staircase we see her moment of "enlightenment" .
Around the outside of the staircase we see signs, symbols and sums as she works through detailed and concise workings out.
We see symbols from Kabbalah, astrology ancient symbolism and equations.
We can see a raven flying out ahead.
Raven marks a moment to pause and give serious consideration to the messages coming your way. It marks a moment in time when something is about to transform.
This magical bird has the additional symbolic value of cleansing.
Perhaps there are outdated and unhealthy patterns and beliefs that we need to purge?
Let this sage master “call” to the quarters of creation with your intention.
Raven encourages rebirth or renewal. It also asks that we share our truth.
It is the personification of Mercury, and denotes delivering information to others.
This may be something mundane like guidance in their protection or something deeply spiritual.
You will have noticed the repetition of the number 1 in today's cards.
Angel number 1 is the angel number that we are likely to see often on our spiritual journey.
We are likely to encounter new beginnings all of the time. Yet seeing angel number 1 again and again means that the universe is offering us a new beginning, or clean slate.
In numerology, the characteristics of 1 that are most marked include independence, self-sufficiency and self-determination.
When the number 1 appears again and again in this way, we are receiving a message that we are at the beginning of a new cycle in life.
“Sometimes we can only find our true direction when we let the wind of change carry us.”Mimi Novic.
It ain't what you do it's the way that you do it.
I'm sure we all know a song about that don't we ? ;)
So that's today's theme tune sorted then!
Maybe we get used to a certain way of being, a series of repetitious habits that form our every day life. We do things in a set pattern; on the whole, perhaps small spontaneous actions pepper our existence from time to time.
I'm sure some will read this and think, no that's not me, I'm always spontaneous, open to the new , embracing changes. And of course that may well be true, to a point.
Perhaps there are a certain amount of repeated patterns in all of our lives, even the most adventurous among us?
As human beings, we tend to be making judgements from moment to moment, about what fits and what doesnt to our routines, ways of being and what feels right, or wrong for us.
We may like to believe we're not judgemental, yet fundamentally it is part of being human, we discern right from wrong through our own filters, formed out of our conditioning, our beliefs, our values and our personality.
Which brings me onto our first card today Judgement.
In the card we see a woman with her essence light and free. Her higher self, the spirit and soul of her being when not constrained by her everyday human experience.
Where as in the physical her arms are held in front of her, in her true essence we see a posture that suggests total freedom. When she can let go of outside influence, she can be totally free to shine. She has awakened to her true spirit.
Perhaps this time of stillness in the World has allowed her to reflect on her true nature, free of the shackles of a life full of distractions and business or busy-ness.
The realisation of self.
In our second card today the 10 of cups we see two women embracing as they watch children playing in the sea. They sit on an unending hammock of rainbow colours on a beach beautiful sandy beach.
10 singing bowls of different colours float above them and in the top corner we see a bass clef.
Maybe it is representing the dance to the music of life, or perhaps as it relates to the bottom notes in music it is signifying the balance of the lower chakras, all earthly needs being met and passions fulfilled.
This card brings a wholesome, loving, family feel to today's storytelling. A feeling of community, love and togetherness.
Our final card today is a personal favourite archetype of mine, the fool.
We see a young woman dressed in yellow, holding onto a wand with her right hand, with an amethyst crystal in her left hand.
Amethyst is a stone of spiritual protection and purification; cleansing one's energy field of negative influences and attachments.
It creates a resonant shield of spiritual Light around the body. Additionally, it acts as a barrier against lower energies, psychic attack, geopathic stress, and unhealthy environments.
She leans over a cliff edge above a pool of water with the flower of life covering the surface.
The Flower of Life symbol is that it is believed to represent the cycle of creation.
It is said to hold the most significant and sacred patterns of the universe
and is the harbinger of all life and existence—from molecules and atoms to planets and galaxies.
The young woman is carefree and not at all concerned by the cliff edge she leans from.
She may at first glance appear foolish, yet perhaps this is simply innocence and wonder at a whole new world of opportunity unfolding beneath her. She is at the beginning of an epic journey of new unfolding adventures.
We may not feel ready, or even be ready, yet this card suggests we are to take a leap of faith into the unknown.
The universe is ready and waiting to support us as we take the first step.
Let us step boldly.
Be bold enough to use your voice, brave enough to listen to your heart, and strong enough to live the life you have always imagined.
Dreams and temptations.
Well as is usual a song came straight to mind as I turned over the cards today... Heaven 17's Temptation.
We've been in a kind of lockdown here in the UK for a week now and Facebook has started to fill up with beach pictures as a thread passes from person to person, an activity to bring a more pleasant feeling to timelines, bringing memories and dreams to mind for the viewer of beautiful vistas, long summer sunshine and distant shores.... And in truth, who wouldn't prefer that scenario to our current situation?
It moves us straight into our first card for today, the 3 of wands. Showing a young woman with beautifully painted white markings on her body, which could either represent tribal markings or maybe mendhi.
Every culture and region of the world uses henna tattoos in its own unique way. For Hindu weddings, henna is painted on the bride to symbolize joy, beauty, spiritual awakening and offering, while Moroccans often paint doors with henna to bring prosperity and chase away evil.
Perhaps then we are seeing both the joy and the counting of our blessings for those of us lucky enough to be safely cacooned in our homes, whilst also guarding against the virus. For those essential workers it could be seen as the protection they need to go about their work in the world right now.
She stands looking over the sea, which is coloured pink (of the heart centre) and the stars light the sky above her. Under her right arm she carries a surf board and 3 wands stand around her with flames burning. She appears poised to take action, her desire is burning as she looks out across this far reaching horizon.
She is optimistic and ready to take the next step, her left foot is slightly raised , as though about to take an emotional step forward.
Underfoot is an orange landscape, her passion is propelling her towards her dreams.
In our second card today, the moon, we see a woman under water, dressed in deep blue and turquoise, her intuition is strong. She is looking up towards the light of the moon, her left arm reaching out towards the light.
Above the surface two wolves howl at the moon, one black and one white. The moon is large and full, filling the sky.
The woman feels caught between the light and the dark. She is caught between the known and the unknown. What is real and what is illusionary.
Is she drowning in the uncertainty and illusion, or is she simply floating in the sea of emotions?
Which wolf is she paying attention to ?
Our current flow of emotion may ebb and flow, we may feel overwhelmed at times and yet our intuition, our inner knowing may give us great faith .
The image reminds me of a baby in the womb, cushioned and protected from the world in the water, as it grows and develops ready for birth.
Maybe we are in the womb of creation, awaiting birth, yet first we must grow and develop. Just as sounds and feelings in the womb are muted and muffled, we may also feel distant from the world right now, yet the time will come for us to emerge into the sun. ( the next archetype in the major acarna).
Our final card for the day is the devil. It depicts a long haired young man with peircing eyes, a bare chest with a tattoo and his left hand reaching out, to us the viewer, he has string wrapped around his index finger (emotions) attached to a small figure, like a puppet of a person wearing a hood and gloves, head in hands. It appears like a Dr in gowns to me today, even showing what looks like a mask over their face.
This is the need and desire for liberation, the temptation to break free, being held in your shadow, its uncomfortable and may feel uncompromising right now, yet it is in this place that we can sit with our deepest need for healing and reach transformation.
It allows us to go within and illuminate the areas where we can let go and transmute negativity.
It can be hard to sit with the restrictions and the limitations, yet there is a gift in embracing and sticking with it.
The obvious of course, for all of the reasons that we have been instructed.
And also the maybe less obvious, of what we are truly capable of, when we can truly know all aspects of ourselves. And love and accept ourselves for all that we are and all that we can become.
At the centre is community.
The first thing that came to mind when I turned over the hanged man once more was the song by Rainbow, I surrender https://youtu.be/iMmMqfQZkxA
The opening bars of this song are like a crescendo of energy and this is the feeling I get today with our first card.
The news will tell us that sadly we are about to move into the peak, or crescendo of our current situation.
It's more important now than ever to surrender to any lingering resistance to following the official advice.
We need to hang tight now, it almost feels that we are holding our breath as a nation, hoping that this will pass with the most hopeful of outcomes in a tragically difficult time.
We are being held in a topsy turvy World of change , yet also healing. A repeating theme across previous storytelling.
We cannot rush through this transformation, it unfolds to it's own rhythm. It does now present us with the time to view the World anew , from a whole new perspective.
If we were even able to rush this experience, we would most probably just resume old habits and the profound lessons we are learning right now would not have had time to form into new positive habits.
In our second card today the queen of pentacles , we see a woman sitting comfortably in an armchair, behind her she is supported in her comfort with a red cushion of safety and security. All of her needs are met.
She is surrounded by trees that can be seen reaching out far into the distance. She holds an orange pentacle in her right hand, signifying the energy of the sacral chakra. This is the seat of new creation, zest, passion, purpose and gut instinct.
Her arms are crossed and her eyes are closed in serene contemplation. Her eye lids are coloured with the most beautiful turquoise, spiritual growth and profound change is being seen in her inner world so that she may reflect this into the outer world.
She wears an elaborate headscarf, again in a beautiful shade of turquoise. Her thoughts are also shifting . She has what appears to be a crown of antler type twigs, leaves and berries.
She is truly connected to her surroundings, her place in the world and in her community. She knows that she is grounded, connected and protected.
Maybe as we find our way through this, we will discover our own unique insights and understanding. We may feel more connected than ever before with our community.
In our final card today, the page of pentacles makes another appearance, reminding us to keep strong and steady in the eye of the storm, to hold the balance beyond the tipping point .
The patterns of the mandala show the page to be in the centre of a circle within a circle, within a circle. We are all connected now, each community, within each larger community and ultimately the global community.
Each one of us makes a difference right now, I am reminded of the famous quote from William James, “Act as if what you do makes a difference, it does.”
This is true today more than ever.
“Together we can face any challenges as deep as the ocean and as high as the sky.” Sonia Gandhi.
Hold on tight to your dreams.
As I laid out the cards this morning, the ELO classic , "Hold on tight to your dream" came to mind.
In this time of uncertainty and shifting tides, we may feel as though we are practicing a fragile balancing act. We may feel like our dreams are slipping from our grasp.
In our first card today the page of pentacles, we see a young woman in her hoody, sweat pants and trainers, carefully balancing on her right leg ( the practical, logical financial, masculine side of her body), whilst her left leg is bent , (the feminine, emotional, spiritual, creative and imaginative). This leg is ungrounded, not firmly placed upon the Earth.
She holds a colourful mandala and stands upon a mandala too.
She is surrounded by and dressed in earthy colours. A thread winds around her hand, down her leg and around her foot.
This suggests that she still has her dreams, and is beginning to earth them into manifestation. Whilst balancing both the material and emotional needs. She stands strong.
In our second card , the hanged man, we see a woman hanging on a silk upside down, she is wearing lime green trousers (new will) and a grey top (stuckness), a bright light shines below her, bright ideas perhaps ? We can see a swirl of runic symbols swirl below her.
There appears to be a gift for mankind in this "thorn" in the symbols shown.
She reaches down her arm and holds tight to her foot with the other. Holding herself in a unusual position, with a new viewpoint in this upside down World she inhabits.
In the top corner we see a faint 11 in a circle.
The master number 11 brings higher intuition and spiritual insight, supernatural abilities, increased sensitivity, as well as empathy and natural intelligence.
The number eleven is a sign of enormous power – both mental and physical.
This appears to be an intentional pause, surrendering to what is right now, letting go of resistance, in order to be born anew.
The hanged man 12 pairs with The empress 3 ( 1+2 = 3) it is as though the empress is connected to the hanged man just like the umbilical chord from mother to child.
This is the pause before birth. As we know birth giving can be a painful yet ultimately rewarding process.
This is a time of realignment, of soul searching towards a more heartfelt purpose.
In our final card today, the 4 of wands, we see women dancing and flowing with energy. One holds a tamberine, moving to the beat of her own song.
In the background we see a circular tent , with festival flags and 4 flames in top of wooden stakes.
There is a beautiful blanket of stars in the heavens above and it feels as though a celebration is unfolding.
After the building of new foundations, there is a feeling of greater connection, of loving community, of joyful energy.
I posted earlier that as most of us will be staying "in, in" on this Saturday night. It made me recall the Wigfield song and accompanying dance from 1994 "Saturday night" .
I wonder could this be our clue to connection today?
We may be physically distanced, yet thanks to technology, we can dance and sing together.
My friend Gregg in Spain has been inviting his friends across the globe to dance and move and shake through any stuck energy on a daily basis.
It's up to us now. We just have to find a new creative way of doing that.
Finding joy in simplicity.
Our first card today the 9 of cups, depicticts a woman with blue hair and a rainbow coloured dress, appearing to jump for joy, a treasure chest is just on the floor behind her and an abundance of singing bowls are surrounding her. A bright light is emanating all around her. Above her we see what looks like the connection of energy, reminding me of the famous "Creation of Adam" by Michelangelo. The whole scene is awash with gold.
Out of negative feelings and heavy mental burdens comes wishes coming true. There's a freedom and lightness, a feeling of movement and illumination where there had perhaps been darkness. A feeling of being reconnected with joy and bliss.
In our next card the 3 of pentacles we see three people working together to create a hanging tapestry of mandalas. Each quite different, signifying the uniqueness of each individual and yet the all encompassing universal connection.
The colours, whilst in different order remind me of traffic lights, perhaps suggesting an opportunity to reflect on what to stop, what to start and what to pause right now.
Each person in the card has a different role to play, a different contribution to make and despite any previous perceived higherarchy, all are equally important to the creation of the overall picture.
It is in the teamwork and different talents and perspectives that the holistic achievement is manifest.
It feels a time of group effort, without higherachy or power. A time of respecting that each and every contribution is valid, important and appreciated.
There are no invaluable contributions if made from a place of love and compassion to team human.
In our final card today, Temperance, we see a young man sitting cross legged , his left arm resting upon his left knee.
The energetic flow moving between the sun and the moon.
He has a tattoo just visible upon his chest, a square with a triangle inside. It can symbolize rising up, something being manifested, illuminated, or integrated. The triangle can represent proportion, something culminating, and being subjective.
On his right arm we see the symbolism of the sun just below a faint number 8 or infinity symbol
behind him is the bright light of an angelic figure.
This is a time of regaining perspective of what is important. Regaining balance. A time for renewal. An awakening of a new way of being. Emotional connection leading over material acquisition.
Regaining our true nature.
What a beautiful bright sunny day it is as I write today's storytelling. I'm sitting in the sanctuary of my treatment space here at Holly House, I have the windows open, out onto the flourishing springtime garden, some essential oils vapourising and I can feel the breeze and hear the birdsong. It feels as though nature is pouring in.
With our first card this morning , a book I once read for a book club I used to be in comes to mind, "Rewilding" , in truth I can't remember a great deal about the book itself, but the title jumps out at me.
In the Strength card we see a young woman, half girl, half lion. A heart pendant hangs around her neck, on her left arm we see a tattoo of the infinity symbol and we can make out the constellation of Leo in the sky. In the foreground we see a lamb.
It feels as though it is a time of reconnecting to our true nature, to go beyond the mask of a commercialised age to rewild, to recognise we are in and a part of nature. To return to the heart of being human and being in our true nature.
The symbolism of the lion and the lamb has of course ancient biblical references. Regardless of individual belief systems, it is interesting to look at the interpretations here:
This symbol is used in both Christianity and Judaism to represent the Messianic Age.
In Abrahamic religions, the Messianic Age is the future period of time on Earth in which the messiah will reign and bring universal peace and brotherhood, without any evil.
Many believe that there will be such an age; some refer to it as the "World to come".
In addition, in Christianity, the lion stands for Christ resurrected, the lamb for Christ's sacrifice.
Perhaps then, translating that for today's World our sacrifice of being asked to remain at home is allowing us the opportunity for a new start, beyond this current restriction.
In our next card the 9 of pentacles, we see a woman happy and joyful tending to her abundance of hanging mandalas, alongside herbs hanging and drying.
The meaning of the word mandala in Sanskrit is circle.
Mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the universe.
The circular designs symbolises the idea that life is never ending and everything is connected. The mandala also represents spiritual journey within the individual viewer.
We see a dove or maybe even a pigeon sitting upon a small mandala.
As a totem animal or spiritual animal, pigeon represents love. Dove has been a symbol of love and peace for years back and this symbolism remained even to this day.
People with this totem are loving and kind with a good understanding of life and problems that others might be having. Pigeon is a totem of motherhood.
In the background a large pentacle is placed almost aside in a coldron.
Perhaps this is a time that is very much about going back to the simplicity of life, living in harmony with nature and a love of simple pleasures, leaving aside the need of financial gain, the cut and thrust and consumerism. Returning to the more nurturing matriarchal way of being and taking care of the ultimate mother , Earth.
Our final card for today is the 6 of cups. We see a young child and a puppy with a series of singing bowls towards a grown man and his loyal old dog. The ground is a deep pinky red colour. And the sky is crimson with mists of time separating the child and the adult.
With this we are reminded of the days gone by, remembering those days of childlike wonder and innocence. Maybe we are nostalgic today about how things used to be.
I'd like to suggest that instead of dwelling on what's gone and perceived to be lost, we harness that childlike wonder, the spirit of curiosity and that playfulness.
I shared a post from a teacher this morning, he was suggesting to parents not to home school, to set up strict teaching regimes.
Instead he suggested nurturing those children whose world has suddenly changed. Be their social circle, bake a cake, play, be creative, paint, laugh and enjoy.
Today, may we all cultivate some of that childlike spirit.

We are presented with the infinite ebb and flow, the balance of life across all of time.
There is a theme that has run throughout all of history, of keeping the balance of life, being the guardians of that flow of life force.
In nature we see and witness this, an effortless flow between ying and yang, light and dark, day and night. It is the universal order of life.
On our first card today, we see a large disc with a pentacle, often associated with material wealth or money, balanced with a beautiful mandala depicting what reminds me of the flower of life.
The meaning behind the Flower of Life symbol is that it is believed to represent the cycle of creation. ... There is believed to be a secret symbol hidden within the Flower of Life symbol, which is said to hold the most significant and sacred patterns of the universe.
We are being presented with the opportunity now to redress the balance, between give and take. Both on the macro and the micro.
Just yesterday we heard the call for 250,000 volunteers to support the NHS on the back of the abundant giving to the nation, to help us through this crisis (to the freelance and self employed community, I truly believe this will also be addressed) again demonstrating the flow between give and take, the duality of being.
We find ourselves in a World that has been way out of balance, out of the infinite alignment, for way too long, now is our chance to redress the balance, for ourselves, our community and our World.
It's our crossroads. Our choice point in history. Our time to see what is in plain sight. Things must change.
We are at the point of the new moon in Aries. The new Moon is typically one of the best for manifesting, setting intentions, and planting seeds.
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and New Moons signal the start of a new lunar cycle, so there is strong energy for new beginnings and fresh starts.
In 2020, the Aries New Moon falls on March 24, just a few days after a string of potent cosmic events, including the Equinox, the Mars Jupiter Conjunction

Around the High Priestess we can see Runic symbols in her consciousness ( my rough translation of which is of man seeing through the seas of emotion to joy or enlightenment) a repeating message throught these storytelling posts.
Mother Earth and all of her inhabitants need to be nurtured right now. The energy of the new moon is surrounding us with the energy to set new intentions to help carry us through the weights we are carrying.
There are many on the front line carrying the weight of the World on their shoulders, quite literally. They need our support more than ever right now.In whatever way is possible . Each of us has a part to play.
Even if that is to simply stay at home.

Old structures falling away to reveal the freedom of enlightenment.
As I woke this morning, bright sunshine streaming in through the window, a song came to mind "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" by Billy Ocean. And quite unexpectedly for our current circumstances, I felt an excitement. Despite all outward experiences of being in a situation of restriction , I felt this was the first step towards freedom and enlightenment.
In our first card today you can see the Hierophant ( High Priest) in true hippy stylee in this deck, smiling and laughing,as if he knows everything that we have yet to discover , in his energy we can see a jumble of the symbols of different Faith's of the World, not separate but together, ahead at the top of the very long upward moving staircase we can see a bright light and the most beautiful mandala. Surrounded by the beautiful soft pink of the heart chakra... of love, compassion and infinite peace.
You might also notice that he is sitting with his feet sole to sole (or soul to soul). Perhaps this is our collective opportunity to shift into a new paradigm of living and being. Old traditions falling away to allow for a new way of being connected. Starting with ourselves.
As we move on to our next card today, we see both the stillness and potential waves of the sea, yet the king is centred in his meditative state.
With heartfelt energy emitting from his centre, he is balanced between the emotional and the logical. The ebb and the flow. The boat or ship in the background reminds me of a blog I once wrote about Leadership http://www.getalife-uk.co.uk/get-a-l…/leadership-lead-a-ship
The starfish in the card reminds me of a story shared with me in the early days of learning to be a coach in my 20s . You may be familiar with the starfish story, in case you're not here it is:
"One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?” The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!”
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…” I made a difference for that one.”
For those of us dedicated to service of others the “starfish story” is the standard call to duty, knowing that each life you touch matters, even if it is only one.
This is our individual and collective call to action. Right here, right now, today.
As we reach our final card today, we find the queen of swords pondering her vision of the future. Perceptive, wise and a truth seeker.
She speaks with absolute authority and clarity , her message is one of higher purpose, as she surveys the horizon from her lofty mountain top. We can see a pot behind bars, held there until the timing is right, just as we ourselves are. This is a time for clear thought , building new foundations and internal structures, ready to create anew , when the timing is right.
Riding the tide of emotions to a new destination.
Lavender blue dilly dilly... I'm reminded of the song... making me think of the many associations with lavender. As I think about it I can almost imagine the fragrance and its calming grace.
It reminds me to simply breathe. Be calm. Just be.
Today feels to be all about community, connection and spiritual support. Having one another's back. Playing witness to one another as we walk along this journey, as members of the same family, not just that of flesh and blood but our greater human family.
This is a time to nurture the possible visions of a better future and higher purpose for us all.
We may of course be called to ride the waves of emotion, of loss, of disillusionment, of self - pity. Be gentle with yourself.
This is a time to turn our attention to navigating a course to a brighter future, even recognising just one small thing each day, can keep us focused on our true path.
This time calls us to think in unexpected ways, to take new paths, ones that we may have never considered in the past.
This is a venture into a whole new World of opportunity. The perfect time to step into childlike wonder and curiosity about what is possible. To experience the world anew, with fresh eyes and an open heart.
Inspiration may come in many forms, some most unusual or unexpected, allow the magic to unfold.
Staying in heart centred strength.
Well it's mother's day here in the UK and I for one am feeling the pain of separation. I've video called my mum and my step mum, my beautiful beautiful daughter left an orchid and a card on my doorstep and waved from the end of the driveway ( I've got a slight cough) and I felt overwhelmed with emotion, tears came to my eyes and my normal positivity was rocked for a moment.
They say having a child is like having your heart walk around outside of yourself, I certainly felt this profoundly this morning.
I guess we may all be feeling the heartache right now. Of separation, of loss, of uncertainty. Yet from these so called shadow lands of our awareness we can still find inspiration.
The sun is shining, bringing a lightness to a new day. In fact I woke very early today at sunrise and the sky was awash with crimson light, it was truly a beautiful new dawn.
Now is a time more than ever to stand in heartfelt strength. A gentle, compassionate strength.
Following the message of yesterday's storytelling, we are together, as one in this journey, though physically separated we are finding new ways to connect with the world around us.
Just yesterday I witnessed the most magical connections through
" Rock the lockdown " a group here on Facebook . With joyful posts from around the world and a joining together in camaraderie and music.
Together we are stronger and it is in that gentle strength we will move beyond our current limitations to a more heartfelt, more connected and stronger human race.
We are called to be courageous now, we all have a significant part to play right now. Even if the part we play is to simply stay at home, dont underestimate the difference that will make.
We are one...
Keep the focus, keep the faith, there feels a strong drive to succeed on this journey. It feels as though there's a race on and in some ways I guess there is, a race to beat the ticking clock of what we are experiencing together , to out run this challenge.... together.
A determination throughout nations, communities and homes to stand strong.
Despite the practical separations and distancing, there is a strong message of unity, of connection, of friendship, love, compassion.... of oneness.
Powerful lasting connections are being made now across every former divide. It is in our unity, together, as one.... so that every soul may experience oneness. Being a part of something so much bigger, so much more powerful than any illusionary separation.
Our love of our fellow human is being demonstrated even in political speeches, in the collective groups on Facebook, in small villages, across each and every community there are signs of unity.
We must overcome any desire for personal greed driven through fear.We are truly being called to give with a servants heart.
Working together we can be stronger.
What a time to reconnect in our personal relationships, life can be so very busy that we can lose sight of our closest connections. This is the perfect time to be together with those we love the most, to strengthen our connection.
It also feels a time of reconnecting with our higher selves, our spirit and soul, our positive beliefs and faith (in whatever form that may take )
Today I urge you to
Be Love and show love,
Love is the answer.
Seeing through the illusion to rebirth...
I shared a live video in one of the networking groups I'm a part of this morning. A cosmic fax dropped in whilst I was relaxing in the bath and readying myself for the day. It occurred to me that I'm seeing a complete contrast between frenetic activity, in shops , on social media, by businesses and individuals... and then I'm seeing the stillness and clearing of the skys, the roads, the waterways of venice.
You know I once heard that if you fear that you are drowning and you thrash about in your panic, you expend valuable energy and this can lead to your demise rather than your saviour. However if you are still and measured you can survive.
I wonder, if we were all to take mother earth's lead and we were to allow the waters to be still and to clear, might we see our true reflection, gain greater clarity in order to move forward ?
When I look at the first card in today's storytelling, I see a reflection in the mirror that simply isn't close to the reality, the mirror depicting restriction, bound by fear and being stuck. The reality is far different, I see the opportunity for clarity, change, growth ... letting go of the old script and stories of who we believe ourselves to be in the world....seeing the truth and the abundant options available when we are not in a fixed mindset.
As we move from clarity into action we are gifted with a higher vision and greater purpose, so much greater than we ever believed possible, one we have not allowed ourselves the time to consider, giving us greater focus, speed and direction.
This truly is a time for rebirth. A new cycle, a new way of being in the world, with ourselves and with each other. Be secure in the knowledge that all of life is cyclical, that after the night follows the dawn. As my good friend and colleague Andy would say, a new day has been declared well and truly open to be awesome.
In today's storytelling,
It may feel like we're in a game of snakes and ladders, one minute up, one minute down. We may long for those carefree ( by comparison) days of weeks gone by, or we may imagine the future positively, a new future ( or we may get stuck in negativity).
The circumstances of our life will come over the horizon towards us , this we cannot slow or change , yet we can choose our response... always.
We can choose to focus on the snakes , or the ladders. You may feel perhaps you're moving between the two. Be kind to yourself, move gently towards the steps of those ladders.
Fear of loss, of unfairness, of life circumstances being unjust may well surface, again...be gentle with yourself.
Remember where focus goes, energy flows.... what you focus on grows.
There is an underlying freedom to where we find ourselves, we have no control of what is presenting to us , yet we can choose to view with a filter of kindness, compassion, love, support and community.
What are your many blessings today?
Perhaps it's time with family, something in our busy life we get so little of. A moment of kindness , a smile and acknowledgement This could be the perfect time for going back to basics, for reflecting on what is truly important. To connect with ourselves and our love for our family and friends.
Today's storytelling shows a community spirit of all working together to create a way forward it is the joint effort that creates the wonderful tapestry of life. Today is the opportunity to consider your role in supporting community. Never underestimate the power of one small action in service to the greater good, it can start a positive chain reaction that changes life for the many.
At a time of such uncertainty, our fears can torment both our dream state and our waking life.
Ask yourself, what illusions am I feeding ? What is true, what is a projected illusion from myself or others?
Tapping into your IN-tuition can help to connect with the truth and move past the illusions and fear of the outside World, this is a time of great learning for us all, we are like new students in a brand new World of life that is suddenly changed from the comparably comfortable place we knew so well. Be gentle with yourself and others.
Today is the day to connect into that space of grace, of balance of knowing you are always held. Meditate , breathe, be patient with yourself, a new purpose is unfolding ....
We are presented with possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity.
I appreciate for many people it may not feel like an opportunity at all. Yet as the old saying goes " what you resist, persists" we have little choice in the instigation of this opportunity, yet we have complete choice in our embracing of it.
As I look at the story playing out in these three cards it shows the story of a time for inner sight, inner knowing, asking us how we will show up in this unusual world.
It is a cross roads of how we share our inner story with the outer story.
What will be your narrative I wonder?
Are yours words fruitful or poisonous ?
Do they add to chaos, fear and confusion or share love and mutual support?
After all, words hold magic within them, they cast spells... this is why we call it spelling.
I'm reminded here of Don Miguel Ruiz's 1st agreement- Always be impeccable with your word. Never use your word against another or yourself. Speak honestly and with love.
In this time of shifting tides and momentous change, can you be still?
Can you tap into your higher wisdom and collective higher consciousness?
It feels a time of deep inner reflection and responsibility . Huge downloads of insight and inspiration are available if we can just be still. Allow the cosmic faxes to drop right in, to enable us to flow through the change.
In some ways it feels that we're birthing a whole new World. If we are able to nurture ourselves and those around us we can create something beautiful. As a good friend and tutor would say, birth-giving can be painful, but we learn and grow and produce something wonderful out of the experience and beyond.
We maybe inside ( quite literally) looking out on the World, yet this is a time of dreaming and imagining, creating and focusing on what could be in the future.
What positives will we take forward out of what feels perhaps an unexpected and highly uncomfortable restriction?
It's as though we are collectively being given the opportunity to seize the changes for our eventual betterment.
Know that you are never alone on this journey, even if every physical sign may suggest otherwise.
I'm reminded once more of the 4 agreements and more specifically, agreement number 4.
Always do your best or as my friend and mentor would say, always do your gentle best.
Your best will fluctuate from moment to moment and that's OK. Just return to being gentle with yourself and others and doing your best in any given moment.
I guess what I'm saying is, ultimately It's a personal reflection of our situation, a choice perhaps of love or fear.... I choose love , are you with me ?
I've been journeying again!
For those of you who have followed me on social media for sometime, you will know that from time to time I take the fools/ hero's journey, through the 22 major arcana of the tarot with the wonderful Tiffany Crosara. For those not familiar with this concept, the “Fool's journey,” as the complete arch of the psychological life cycle is called, begins with the childlike innocence of someone just coming into the world and ends with wholeness and fulfillment of a person who has well learned life's lessons.
It's a journey of soul enrichment, a journey of personal development and growth. It's nothing to do with the usual associations of tarot, predictions of tall dark handsome strangers etc, etc. No this is very much working with awareness of the self and how the archetypes of the symbolism in the cards are mirrored within each and everyone of us.
The symbolism within the cards depicts the depth of human consciousness and experience, revealing patterns of behaviour across time. The Major Arcana archetypes and symbology specifically look at key aspects of human experience, uncovering the many stages of spiritual development.
Tarot allows us to story tell using this symbolism, along with numerology, in addition it also draws on the wisdom of great philosophers such as Aristotle, through the examination of the elements i.e air, fire, water and earth. The Major Arcana speaks to what Carl Jung termed “the universal subconscious.” Each of the 22 cards symbolises a different part of the psyche, leading one on a spiritual journey from division or separation to wholeness.
Each time I undertake this developmental journey I am always amazed how different each is, though I guess as we develop and grow there are always new lessons to be learned and new mirrors to reflect upon.
21 The World from the Light Seers Tarot
So today I am on "The World" number 21 in the major arcana and the 22 card of the journey (The fool being 0).
What a perfect time to reflect as I return home to myself with a gift of growth and change.
How apt then that the card I should draw from one of my favourite decks , The Wildwood Tarot , should be the ten of stones "Home".
Taken from The Wildwood page on facebook
Ten Stones - Home
"The circle of the year has fully turned and we find ourselves back where we began, back at Imbolc, where we stood together as new Wanderers a whole 12 months ago.Together we have explored the outer and inner realms of the Wildwood and spoken with the ancient spirits that dwell in its summer meadows and wintry caves. Now we turn our faces in the direction of Home.
Each carefully placed stone in the arched gateway that greets us as we arrive home reminds us how important we are as part of a greater whole. Without the foundation of the stones beneath, the arch could not stand. The great tree that forms the backbone of the home shows the strength and the steadfastness of our tribes.
And while our tribe is most usually our family, it is not limited to family – closely linked friends with shared purpose is also a powerful tribe. Where we have that sense of belonging is "Home".
Carved into the stones we see The Shaman, who represents magic and power in the world around us, along with The Seer, his complement. She represents the magic and power that comes from still, contemplation of the inner world.Together they united and allowed us to integrate all that we have experienced in our outer and inner worlds over the past year on the Wildwood paths.
The year has turned full circle. We are back where we began, but we are changed by our adventures. And we know that our journey is not over yet. Now is the time to sit by the campfire and share our tales of magical creatures and the ancient powers of the land. And when we are ready, we shall begin our journey around the Wheel of the Year again."
As I reflect back over the past 22 days, it marks a real moment to stop and take stock.
I wonder, when was the last time you paused to review your journey?
I wonder, are you just ploughing on through the year, without a moment to consider the trajectory of your efforts?
It's easy to get caught up in the momentum and then find yourself half way through the year and recognise you haven't even come up for air! I know , I too have found myself thinking, "was that really a year ago" when viewing my facebook memories.
And considering the Ten of stones, who or what gives you the sense of "Home"?
Who is your tribe? And what is your collective purpose?
Some deep questions to ponder today as I return home once again.
I hope it might allow you a moment of reflection too, on this amazing journey we call life!
As I'm officially taking a week off ( boy did I order some good weather as well might i add), it's given me a little more creative head space and more importantly time for creative imagining.
This blog came about as an aside to realising that the two weeks myself and my hubby have booked off for our main holidays, coincide with half term ( which basically, in real terms means the prices for hotels and flights are hiked up by what seems a zillion percent!) As we don't have school age children anymore, school holidays don't feature on our radar so to speak, they will from now on however, we've already searched out next years school holiday calendar to avoid the same debarcle as this years holiday hunt.
Holiday searches aside, It did stimulate a discussion over breakfast the other morning.
Can you remember what it was like when you went back to school after the 6 weeks summer holidays?
(even longer for some)
After those long sunny days...... as I child I can only remember long hot summers, despite our surprise when we get a couple of days of sunshine in a row and call it summer now.
We would have played out for hours, with no digital interference, coming home only when we were tired or hungry, or both. Those conscientious among you would of course have completed any homework at the beginning of the holidays, the rest of us would be cramming to complete it on the bus, on our way back to school on the first morning of the new term.
Did you, like me (and my hubby as he told me) get excited about new exercise books, pencil case, crayons, pencils and of course the obligatory fountain pen and cartridges, it just made hand writing look better right?
At our school we had to back our books, so some kids bought posh paper from Clinton's cards, whilst the rest of us had some roll end of anaglypta wallpaper ( it lasted far longer didn't it?)
Of course there was the school uniform torture, had to get two sizes too big to grow into, so that it would last beyond the first term, and if you were really lucky you went to Clarks shoes to get your feet measured for a hideous pair of sensible shoes, when all you really wanted was a pair of kickers, or way finders with a compass in the heel!
There was just an air of excitement and anticipation, mixed with a little trepidation,a new teacher, a new class, maybe new students (who had moved to the area as a result of business executive parents, generally in those days of the 70's and early 80's, the executive dad who had been given a relocation package to move to another office or market area).
As was the case for me in 1978, having moved from a upmarket rural village south of Nottingham, I found myself in a foreign land, the northern town of Rochdale; Smallbridge to be specific, on the edge of moorland, down an unadopted road, behind an old disused textile mill ( I'm making it sound like it's grim up North, which isn't the case at all, it does however rain.... a lot). I was still in a beautiful; if not a little more rugged and open to the elements, rural location, yet surrounded by; as the famous hymn ( and my school hymn indecently) "Jerusalem" would state, those dark satanic mills.
I found people to be extremely friendly, everyone spoke in the street ( this was a bit of a novelty aged 10, did everyone know everyone?) I remember very clearly the apprehension of going to Howarth Cross middle school on my first day, new town, new school, new class, new teacher... and I was the new kid ( as described above, moved with my dad's job, along with whole family including grandparents and a menagerie of animals, I think my step mum was very probably pregnant with my little brother too, what a time to move).
I was well and truly out of my comfort zone.
Thankfully for me, this beaut on the left happened to be sitting on the wall outside the "quadrangle" with her mum, alongside me with my step mum, on that very first day. This blue eyed mischief maker, who looked much like an angel...... and was generally scheming something naughty and cheeky most of the time ( maybe that's continued Tammy?) was to become my partner in crime throughout the rest of my school years and beyond.
I soon settled in, as can be seem by my thumbs up on the right, despite having the mickey taken out of me every day for my "posh" accent, I just thought everybody else talked funny, with their "Have ya not's" .... "Do ya not's" and "I'll tell ya what it is".
As I look at the photo on the right, I'm reminded of Jane, who sadly is no longer with us, she emigrated to heaven some years ago now as a result of a long struggle with breast cancer. Also I wonder how one of these young, happy fresh faced girls, with a world of opportunity ahead of her became a heroin addict and sex worker to fund her habit, despite having two small children. I truly hope she managed to turn her life around, I have no idea what happened to her sadly.
It's a stark reminder perhaps that we are all presented with choices every day. There is a world of possibility and potential within each and every one of us. Every moment of every day is precious, a true gift.
My message to you today, is please step into your magnificence, please don't play it small. You have such wonderment inside you. You are truly limitless if you only realise it.
Think back to that first day back to school once more, the excitement, the unending potential and possibilities that you held in the palm of your hand. Yes, it may have been a little bit scary, but you know what, you're here reading this, so stepping out your comfort zone into the opportunity zone, just added to who you are becoming and you're here to tell the tale.
I urge you today to harness that back to school energy for yourself.
Where are you seeking to grow and learn, to bring newness... to step out of your comfort zone.....
What are you waiting for? The whole World awaits your greatness!
Today,I urge you to ask yourself, where am I denying the World my wonder?
Sign up for that course, read that mind expanding book, take that trip....
Make every moment count!
“If you go off into a far, far forest and get very quiet, you’ll come to understand that you’re connected with everything.” – Alan Watts
I was blessed today to have a little free time, a rare treat just recently as life and work has been pretty busy. After meditating for a short while, I decided to talk a stroll down the lane, take in some vitamin D and bump up my step count for the day.
As I walked I took some pictures, enjoyed the warm breeze and noticed life taking place all around me. Earlier this morning, whilst having a quick scroll through social media, seeing a range of posts, the normal sort of stuff, interspersed with the odd comment about politics, the light and the dark of life and everything in between, I happened upon a video of zack macleod pinsent a young designer who only wears period dress, he said it made him feel 10 feet high, completely happy and that he had never dressed in this way in order to stand out or get noticed, but simply because it made him happy.... the pure energy of his delight exuded from him in bucket loads as I watched him on screen.
This young man came to mind again as I was wandering down the lane, capturing snaps of the varied hedgerow. There was such colour and variety, much like our world I guess. There were tall plants, short plants, green plants, red ones, pink and some yellow, some blossoming, some going to seed and some dying away. Just like people I guess. What struck me was that they each grew alongside one another, shared the same sustaining sun, air and rain. They weren't in competition, they didn't concern themselves with status or standing, there was no politics or discrepancies in beliefs, no fighting for space, just the hedgerow, growing alongside one another in union and connection, despite vast differences.
What also came to mind was how beautiful the delicate flowers were, and that they didn't care or worry how beautiful they were, or in fact if they would ever be seen or witnessed... they simply flourished and blossomed anyway.
Food for thought I guess?
As I returned to our road I noticed that just one of the street lamps was flickering light, despite it being mid afternoon, below it a grit bin. I smiled to myself and the message I saw there, sometimes it takes grit to shine your light, when all around you may seek to find ways to see you as different or to make argument of what may appear to be separation of thought or belief.
I'll leave you with these little acorns..... as from them great oak trees do grow. I hope today's blog may plant a seed that may blossom, especially in these times where we may be made aware of separateness instead of connection.
May you blossom, brightly and happily in your own beautifully unique way, knowing that we are all sparkling stars in this landscape called life that we all share together.
“We are like islands in the sea, separate on the surface but connected in the deep.” – William James
Or to quote a line from a well known book "Love thy neighbor as thyself"
After all, its simply a choice.
